While episode winners progress to subsequent rounds, up to 50 wildcard artists per location also hope to dazzle the judges. Their aim? A coveted spot in the grand final and the title of Landscape Artist of the Year.

    Wow. They selected the 3 worst for the short list. Emmoneegee (sp?) --- the one w/ the palette knife --- had the best painting by far

      It’s high time they brought in 3 other experienced people as judges. I get fed with their lingo, i.e. discussing a painting of a tree, ‘Yes, I like the ‘treeness’ of it.’

    I thought the Nigerian with pallet knife was the most professional. Except I chose the same winner for his more modern believable abstracted realism. His subtleness and energy playing on each other while holding their own compositional space. Would have liked to view her more delicate watercolor in person because digital pics of watercolor never do them justice.

    I judge the judges. Something is Warped (vortex) within their eyesight (vision) and within their brains.

    WTF! This is getting like American Boxing! I'm not sure what they were looking at or for but the Nigerian was leaps and bounds above the rest, Wow!

      Yes, they are often wrong in my sense. They should have to expose clearly their criterias.

    I've heard several times they are looking for something new, However It's never who they choose to win the whole competition.
