I found Subaru wrx/sti a really stiff unfriendly car for a daily, and ended up going with Audi s4 which has been the best of both worlds. With just a flash tune, mine makes 435hp, and rides smooth as butter while still launching to 60 in about 4.0 seconds. My previous car was a 05' mustang I modded the living shit out of (20k not counting supercharger kit) and had a huge hp difference. Rear wheel are a whole different beast than AWD though, as you probably know well based on your collection. Run races from the dig (benefit AWD w/ launch control), and also from 30 and then from 50 which is advantage to hp and rolling start. That way you see each car in its most beneficial environment. I bet if I still had the mustang and drove both I would beat it to 60 nearly every time with the S4 because of ease of using launch control with an auto, instead of no launch on a manual. Even though my best times on mustang 0-60 were mid 3's and s4 are low 4's to high 3s, i pulled sub 4.0 launches on mustang much less frequently. Tbh, heat soak seemed only reason i ended up over 4.0 sec in all my test runs using s4. Launch control is just so easy compared to "peddling" a car with too much hp for the average street. That said, after 60 I would catch and pass the S4, and by the end of a 1/4 mile.,, Stang ran high 10's and S4 runs high 11.
brandon93291 .. we only had one run at 50 and that’s where I actually had it.. the other runs were at 60-65 and the car is pulling too many rpm’s to pull in 3rd unfortunately
@@RacerX9 I have a now stock 17 STI, cause at 30k I got rod knock on stage 2 setup now brand new warranty engine, u can run 3rd at 50 and pull hard, stage 2 with pro tune you'll run neck and neck with a scat pack

Gotta try brake boosting a turbo car in roll races. I’d look up some videos of how to do it. There’s so much potential in the sti to be learned and unlocked
I'd really enjoy seeing you get some mods on the Sti. Proper tune, new full exhaust, headers etc. and the Sti is really going to come alive. Eliminate that down low out of the hole lag. Also, put these two cars on some windier roads and then you can really see where the Sti excels.
If anyone had an driving error it was the black guy driving the charger cuz it is his first time roll racing, racer x had to teach him how to roll race
I have a RT Charger. It's fun, but nowhere near fast. That car should at least be just above 400hp . Shit, the 57 in the Ram makes 395 . I think that Dodge purposely made the RT Charger slower in order to make the gap much broader between it and the Scatpack. I'm definitely trading mine in a few months..
Damn close despite the significant disparity in engine types. Think it was that close due to his rookie status? Also the 5.7s are the cop packages right?
Awesome video! I live in DFW area as well and got a WRX. We should test out speed difference for WRX vs STI since there is a significant difference on performance.
Being that the 5.7 is still known as a "truck motor", if he focuses on improving the mid range and getting some better tires, that RT will roll as hard as any other sports car on the street without sacrificing its ability as a daily.
Good comparison. I think we owe all turbo 4 cars a software flash though. It has the "protect the warranty claim", "Sandra might put low tier 87 octane in it" tune on it now. Give it a quality 91/93 flash and rematch.
I have a ‘17 STI limited, i don’t drag race people but i do enjoy hitting the two lane freeway on ramp at 45 when most cars can only go safely 25. You have two very different cars so now you know when its raining out which car stays home.
It takes a lot of money to make a WRX as fast as any V8 muscle car over 400 horsepower. But they truly are two different vehicles. The WRX is a lot of fun in corners.

Though from a dig in STI is where it really shines. 0-60 for the earlier model STIs were 4.5 seconds, and that's with having to shift to 3rd gear...
I'm 29. And itll be hard to believe I came from the hot rod scene. Like my first car was my Dads old 69 Chevelle. But I've turned to Subie life! Best bang for your money is a AIG Stage 2 closed deck ej205 with forged internals on E85. I had a 2016 WRX STI and brought it back 4 days later and got my money back. Spend 5k on a blown 2002-08 WRX/STI and drop 20k into her. I have an 03 that's Cobb stage 3 pushing 600whp. The only time a Hellcat has beat me is from an 80 roll because they have a higher top speed. But on a track I'm in and out of corners so fast hellcats are no longer in my rearview. Even from a dig my 0-60 3.60 seconds. I love charger's but without a power adder like a turbo or supercharger they don't just cut it enough for me.
Yeah man it's good to see someone local in fort Worth doing a car UA-cam, I've raced you wife in the grey scat pack before way in Mexico by a "life church" They have 😂 & I've raced a lot of cars around here, when it comes auto to manual, with equal power the auto has such a delay when they slam the throttle the most even race you'll ever have is if they drive it in manual mode to be honest great video man!
Great video, I always wondered how fast those RT’s were, I wish I had spots like that in California to race, i’ve raced a few people and got going pretty fast but of course you risk getting arrested and then probably taking your car, but I did put that K40 radar system on my Hellcat so that definitely helps with the police, love the bonus footage, can’t wait till the next one, until next time RACERX!
Cool comparison but the sti isn't one trick straight line pony like the dodge. Put the dodge on a track with lots of tight turns, a rally course, or even wet roads and we'll see where the dodge ends up.
Now you need to take it around a track same cars, i have a 19 5.7 charger with all the track add ons, and my brother had a 16 sti and drove my charger and said its smooth, tight, and can hold at speeds around corners the same as the sti
mike franzen .. I will say that the two cars handle very differently.. you can definitely feel the difference when you have AWD and are 1000 pounds lighter... on a road course the car will definitely hold a higher speed 👍
My 2018 RT is upgraded with the 3.09 LSD, 275's all around, and thicker Mopar front sway bar (makes the car handle like it's several hundred pounds lighter, a must IMO) and you'd be surprised how tight it handles. But still, it's apples and elephants.
I learned a long time ago to never underestimate the little guy. I used to get my butt handed to me by SRT4s. By the way, if you ever want some real AWD fun, find some snow( I know, it’s hard to come by in Texas) It’s a blast though.

I miss my 2008 SRT8 charger Superbee. Counting the days till I pick up something else. I've wanted a scat pack for a while but the 5.7 Charger/Challenger has been interesting me lately. Almost same power ratings as my 6.1 I owned, which was more than enough for me anyways. I just loved the sound and punch that car had on acceleration. With the active exhaust now on the 5.7 I think it's a fun package now.
I think you need to take the STI off road or in the snow to really have fun with it, where the car has it's roots. Drag racing a stock STI vs muscle cars isn't a fair comparison. Great vid nonetheless!
Honestly, they are pretty close together man, i used to own a 2016 camaro rs v6 8 speed and i can tell you, they r quik! I have been to the drag strip in both(im on my 2nd 2015 charger r/t now) and the charger its only about .3 .4 seconds faster than the camaro on best runs from both. Both are fun cars to drive, but if you are over 6'0 ft tall ill recommend the charger, its a lot more comfortable and spacious. The only thing i hate about my charger r/t its the open diff! That sucks haha im gonna have to get an lsd diff from an srt or scat pack but other than that, its nice👍 The camaro came with an lsd already so it was fun to spin around haha
Used to have an older WRX 8yrs ago and they're fun cars but I just got tired of shifting gears in city traffic. The Charger Daytona is a gas guzzler but a more practical family car.
It is pretty much known that when it comes to racing from a Dig/stop, the AWD kills (Up to a certain extent). Now when it comes to highway, or roll racing, Displacement always gets the win. Especially when that high displacement has to only travel to one axle.
Not me of course, but someone I know in an rt just reels in wrx’s sti or not. From a stop of course the wrx takes the jump but gets reeled in pretty quickly. Honestly a 290hp maxima hung tight with a few wrx’s simply because of the cvt. The maxima pulled 290hp the entire time while the manual wrx would pull then drop on the shift, repeat 6 times. The cvt is nasty for racing. Full power the entire time. Love them , don’t care what anyone says.
Sti is quick. I used to have a boosted 86 which I left exterior stock. Besides tires of course. Use to get a lot of thumbs ups from v8s on friendly rolls.
Alen... unfortunately I don't have a quarter mile track in my back yard or I would have. If you look up the quarter mile times of both cars they are quite similar which exactly what the video shows. I'm not sure why you would make the comment. Seems unwarranted.

I think the 5.7 will win Everytime when in right gear
Should have had the STI in lower gear 3rd gear at 45-50 mph, would have jumped that hemi, I believe Sti strongest gear is 2nd to 3rd
brandon93291 .. we only had one run at 50 and that’s where I actually had it.. the other runs were at 60-65 and the car is pulling too many rpm’s to pull in 3rd unfortunately
@@RacerX9 I have a now stock 17 STI, cause at 30k I got rod knock on stage 2 setup now brand new warranty engine, u can run 3rd at 50 and pull hard, stage 2 with pro tune you'll run neck and neck with a scat pack
brandon93291 no you won’t. 😂👏🏻👏🏻
RacerX 2nd 40 is a good roll with the STI.
@@brandon93291 My 16 STi is protuned on e85 puts down 340 hp to the wheels on mustang dyno.
Way much more fun than stock, has intake ,down pipe, full exhaust and flex fuel kit...
Raced many in my r/t. They usually get the jump but the torque of the r/t reels them in every time.
Gotta try brake boosting a turbo car in roll races. I’d look up some videos of how to do it. There’s so much potential in the sti to be learned and unlocked
Been waiting since the stream lol good video man
Brayden Hill .. thanks buddy.. I appreciate that my friend
I'd really enjoy seeing you get some mods on the Sti. Proper tune, new full exhaust, headers etc. and the Sti is really going to come alive. Eliminate that down low out of the hole lag.
Also, put these two cars on some windier roads and then you can really see where the Sti excels.
He isn’t launching his sti properly... it is 100% driver error... these cars have 0 out of the hole lag
If anyone had an driving error it was the black guy driving the charger cuz it is his first time roll racing, racer x had to teach him how to roll race
Those basic mods will end up blowing up that junk ass Sti motor
I have a RT Charger. It's fun, but nowhere near fast. That car should at least be just above 400hp . Shit, the 57 in the Ram makes 395 . I think that Dodge purposely made the RT Charger slower in order to make the gap much broader between it and the Scatpack. I'm definitely trading mine in a few months..
Charger RT’s make around 390 to the crank based off the dyno sheets of stock RT’s, which is about 340-350 whp.
I think the RT, while certainly not a race car, is still a really solid package
Damn close despite the significant disparity in engine types. Think it was that close due to his rookie status? Also the 5.7s are the cop packages right?
That was NOT close
Yes they are. However the cop package is AWD
Charger Pursuits come in 3.6 v6 or 5.7 v8 (rwd or awd)
Yes it was very close .. essentially a drivers race 👍
Phantom Hemi that was close actually. 👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome video! I live in DFW area as well and got a WRX. We should test out speed difference for WRX vs STI since there is a significant difference on performance.
Make me want to take my RT out tonight and find some STI's to beat up on.🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s a hobby of mine lol
@@johnjones1997bih Try it from a dig...
Greg Campbell no sir I know better🤣
RT’s are like V6 camaros lmao
Relax your R/T ain’t that fast. They barely beat a stock STI 🤦🏾♂️
Being that the 5.7 is still known as a "truck motor", if he focuses on improving the mid range and getting some better tires, that RT will roll as hard as any other sports car on the street without sacrificing its ability as a daily.
That was a great video, i traded a 2019 sti sport for a 2018 charger daytona r/t 5.7L and i love my charger
You should try to race a stinger gt
That would be a fun race 👍
@@RacerX9 race the stinger in your wife's challenger
@I Know Better fast junk.
What makes the stinger gt junk just asking because I was thinking of getting one
Really was surprised. The R/T is a solid V8
Should had a couple runs at lower speeds for that Sti! Break boosting would had helped a lot!
Ezequiel Melendez .. I tried the break boosting thing and it seemed counter effective to me.. can only go so slow on the highway
@@RacerX9 They're called "brakes". For a car channel wow....
Sweet matchup! Fun video, thanks!
Any time!
Always good videos! 👍🏾👏🏾
Thank you my friend 👍
I have a Charger daytona I love my car ❤️🚗
I like my tired r/t. Awd. Took it south. Nobody down here has ever seen one so modding it and doing work have been hard af xD
Good comparison. I think we owe all turbo 4 cars a software flash though. It has the "protect the warranty claim", "Sandra might put low tier 87 octane in it" tune on it now. Give it a quality 91/93 flash and rematch.
Man your awesome 👍🏿. I see your a Mortal Kombat fan as well. Respect ✊🏿.
Thank you my friend
I have a ‘17 STI limited, i don’t drag race people but i do enjoy hitting the two lane freeway on ramp at 45 when most cars can only go safely 25. You have two very different cars so now you know when its raining out which car stays home.
Robert Rouse .. fully agree Robert 👍
It takes a lot of money to make a WRX as fast as any V8 muscle car over 400 horsepower. But they truly are two different vehicles. The WRX is a lot of fun in corners.
yes.. agreed.
Still no replacement for displacement road course sti straight. There's a reason why sti is not in drag racing
Hell yeah great video
Thank you my friend 👍
The new model of Impreza Wrx\Sti are so heavy, so it's a very even match
I have my 2019 wrx im at 470hp on it... these cars are insanely fun once u add some modifications to them... haven't had the chance to race a skat pack yet
I'm sure that thing is a little rocket...
What mods?
What mods did you add? I just got a 2020 and when my warranty expires I’m going to mod it up.

WOW! I always see kids on the RT trying to race my STI but I just can’t do street racing crap is scary dangerous. Now that I watched this I am happy I did not waste my time. Sitting at 401whp the Scat Pack would be a an actual competitor.
Would love to see a video showing how to roll race and drag it’d be pretty fun. Still trying to get comfortable with my 2019 charger scatpack. But all your content is alway super helpful
Victor Garcia .. I have both videos 👍.. learning to roll race and drag race techniques.. these videos are on my channel from a little while back
Bonus footage was Hilarious! in Kevin Hart's voice "Noooo... He wasn't ready...!"
Kotta 376 .. haha.. it’s a whole different level 👍
Great runs! I have to say I'm glad the Hemi pulled out in front. Very close though. That turbo whine is cool!
Mike Shelby .. you bet my friend .. it’s essentially a drivers race 👍
The dude is starting in 4th gear... if he knew how to drive his sti he would walk him... 60mph pull he needs to be in 3rd

Cool video and I like the cul-de-sac street. I have a 05 STI, Twin-Turbo Inline 6, and Supercharged V8 variants in my vehicles and each one is a blast in it's own right. 4-6-8 performance! Though from a dig in STI is where it really shines. 0-60 for the earlier model STIs were 4.5 seconds, and that's with having to shift to 3rd gear...
gjtt .. thank you! Yes the STI does digs well if you can get it to launch
I love my 2019 rt she moves it’s my first v8 I went full upgrades on the interior with a MMD and sounds amazing
Great video, not sure which one of you had more fun. 😃😃
Thank you David.. we both had a great time making this one
My legacy GT dusted my friends R/T 3 times, all I had done to it at that time was straight pipes with a resonator delete lolol
You want a cookie?
@@The312Motorsports I think I deserve one yes, update I pull on GTRs now

Great video, I always wondered how fast those RT’s were, I wish I had spots like that in California to race, i’ve raced a few people and got going pretty fast but of course you risk getting arrested and then probably taking your car, but I did put that K40 radar system on my Hellcat so that definitely helps with the police, love the bonus footage, can’t wait till the next one, until next time RACERX!
Jason Beeman .. you definitely need to be careful out there.. these cars were very close! I appreciate it buddy
Jeff Perrine .. I can only imagine how awesome that STI would be in snow 👍
@@RacerX9 subarus,s in snow is a blast i live in Ohio wevtend tovget snow thst isvthe reason i got to Subaru in the first place. I loved the bonus footage of your friend have fun in the sti. I hope someone cool like you will teach me how to roll race and how to drive a standard shift. Hard to learn to drive a standard when i do not have access to one 😢
Had an 03 "bug-eye" WRX in Chicago....ABSOLUTE fun!!!!
I have a stage 2 wrx it is slightly faster than a sti but barely, I beat 5.7 hemis all the time by like a lot, I’ve even had some good run ins with some modified ones as well but I still come out on top, I’ve only ever lost once but it was against a modified and tuned one when I was stock, but good content keep it up.
Stage 2 wrx barely faster than STI? I was evenly matched stock and am stage 1 and dust STI’s
Hey Racer X, my one son who's about your age and I were talking cars, he's into BMWs and Hondas, me I'm into Corvettes, and my 392 Challenger, we both ride dirt bikes also.
Anyway, he's telling me how his friends and him call Subaru's, Lesbarus. That cracked me up! I just wanted to warn you for you don't let your pretty wife out by herself in your Subaru.
That’s crazy I remember my brother would walk sti’s with his 2018 5.7 Daytona he had a yellow jacket he topped out at 154mph
The two cars seemed to be really evenly matched with the right driver
I miss my 2008 SRT8 charger Superbee. Counting the days till I pick up something else. I've wanted a scat pack for a while but the 5.7 Charger/Challenger has been interesting me lately. Almost same power ratings as my 6.1 I owned, which was more than enough for me anyways. I just loved the sound and punch that car had on acceleration. With the active exhaust now on the 5.7 I think it's a fun package now.
I have that exact same Daytona but in f8 green
I think you need to take the STI off road or in the snow to really have fun with it, where the car has it's roots. Drag racing a stock STI vs muscle cars isn't a fair comparison. Great vid nonetheless!
HectorRamirez64 .. thank you my friend.. although it’s not the normal place to take an STI the matchup was very even
I wonder how they compare to the 6th gen V6 Camaros
the 5.7 wins. tested it
I have to believe that both of these cars are faster than the 6th gen 6 cylinder car 👍
That sucks haha im gonna have to get an lsd diff from an srt or scat pack but other than that, its nice👍
The camaro came with an lsd already so it was fun to spin around haha
I have a V6 camaro and a 2015 STI. STI is a lot quicker
Man he walked you on that 3rd run as the say in the racing circles no replacement for displacement
Great content buddy 👍🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Chad.. much appreciated
i think the manual lost it for you, but great video and great comparison!
Dude, nice match up👍👍👍.
Thank you my friend
Used to have an older WRX 8yrs ago and they're fun cars but I just got tired of shifting gears in city traffic. The Charger Daytona is a gas guzzler but a more practical family car.
Welcome Nick you did go Big Bro thank you brothers!!!!
Super close match up 👍 if he ends up modding it would be interesting to see how things play out, if you flash a tune too.
I’d really like to see a dead stop just to compare the 60 foot hit up to the 1/4 mile to see the difference between the sti and 5.7
This was awesome, I've had WRX STI owners try to say my Scat Pack is slower. LMAO
Tyler Broughton I’m not saying you’re wrong but there are a lot of high horsepower stis out there. They just cost an arm and a leg to build 😂
Nice seeing 2 car scenes getting along.
Agreed...
I love my Mopars and Subarus great video
Thank you my friend
The fact that a 4 cylinder can hang with a V8 is impressive people seem to overlook that.
I really liked him seeing how happy he was riding.
Sti is quick. I used to have a boosted 86 which I left exterior stock. Besides tires of course. Use to get a lot of thumbs ups from v8s on friendly rolls.
Now let's compare it on a snowy road or on loose ground. 😂
That's just stupid . On the highway with a v8 that's designed for straight line acceleration. You should do a quarter mile run from the dig
Alen... unfortunately I don't have a quarter mile track in my back yard or I would have. If you look up the quarter mile times of both cars they are quite similar which exactly what the video shows. I'm not sure why you would make the comment. Seems unwarranted.
