I'm amazed clearview screens are still a thing. You'd have thought that wipers would have replaced them completely, given that ship builders can reuse off the shelf parts from trucking and railways for wipers. They always seemed to be to be a rather complicated way of doing a simple job.
They have certain uses. Like looking into industrial milling machines with spray going everywhere. And it's just a clear disk on a fast spinning motor, so it's not really that complicated. They're probably more useful in regards to camera applications, such as getting footage from a racing boat where it would have less effect on the viewing angle. The funny thing is it being called clear-view in this case, when it's poorly maintained and not living up to the name.
The clear view screen doesn't have a very clear view. I am sure there is some window film technology these days that can sheer the water off automatically.

I saved this video in case I buy myself tanker ship
I'll help invest if I can be the First Officer
But the Clear View screen had the worst view! It was dirty/foggy and we could barely see out of it, the glass right next to it was much clearer.
Wow, your clear view screen is really.....not clear.
I saw those round circles on “Deadliest Catch” always wanted to know how they worked
That was also my reason to look for these clear view screens. Deadliest Catch is a great program.

i came to this video after i was on the highway during really bad rain. trust me: at some point normal wipers dont cut it anymore.
Great job buddy :)
Amazing, didn't know that
I'm surprised that the wiper's throw is so small. I assume it has to do with powerful winds and not having it rip off the window frame, right?

That clear view isn't very clear. 🤣
When I use them I brake them
