Thanks. Useful overview of the different options. Maxtree collections look good - but I wish they would separate each plant into it's own FBX file rather than 5 variations in one file. Had the same issue elsewhere - so need to find a solution that works for SU with Vray...someone suggested Blender can split FBX files
@@LuminousLabs Thanks - yes have Transmutr but the problem files are ones which include multiple variants (models) within 1 file which Transmutr cant split. But otherwise Transmutr is very good for importing different object formats, reducing geometry and creating proxies

Use Blender to separate the file, it's a free software you just need to download it 👍

Trasnmutr costs about $125US I think but it will actually convert fbx files into Sketchup format for you. It works quite well.
