In Geoffrey of Monmouth's account. After 12 years of peace, he goes to Denmark, Norway, then Gaul as you said. Before then, he kicked the Saxons ass for year's. If that was the case, then id assume, the Saxons forces would have been decimated and even after a generation or two, wouldnt have made much of a impact on the British Isles, but they did. From their language to culture, completely consumed the majority of Brittain. If Arthur was so successful, i just dont see that happening in a few 100 years. I could be wrong.
Speaker for the Dead is probably the best Ender book. Ender isn’t shoved in like you may think, but about 50% of it is about like a Brazilian space colony and really diving into that culture and their family relationships it’s kinda crazy
I feel exactly like Sean does about the Stark girls in the books currently, I’ve relistened the Elayne Chapter so many times and I’ve basically skipped all of Arya’s chapters in bravos every time, except when she’s washing the body of the young blond man
I did my final history work on dal riata and tbis period..its very interesting. I loved Bede.. he writes for a very different peopple and mindset and it really put things in perspective.
Have either of y'all read the Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell? It's a historical fiction trilogy based on the Arthur legend but more true to the post-Roman Britain setting. I'm totally unsure of it's general reception or reputation but I think it's really well written and probably my favorite historical fiction series out there.
I think *Arthur The Conqueror of Gaul* is more likely to be based on Magnus Maximus than Riothamus, though the latter's name does look more like Arthur.
The only thing I will say about the Hamilton/Jefferson debate is Jefferson's white supremacy basically makes him a completely untenable figure for the modern center/center-left, so despite Hamilton's anti-democracy stance he still comes out looking the better of the two.
Welsh was an Anglo-Saxon exonym for the Britons, basically calling them foreigners iirc (it does have Latin Etymology but it was adopted into germanic languages not brittonic) In Welsh Wales is Cymru and the Welsh are Cymry
Arthur is 99% made up literal construction over the centuries. Inspiration were Welsh myths and stories but whatever was that 1% of true historical inspiration is so deluded that probably has zero to do with story we got. What you could maybe try is to trace where all the story elements have its origins and how over time they were inserted into Arthurian lore. It's like in modern terms how you got Star Wars out of Kurosawa, Joseph Campbell, Flash Gordon and bunch of other things mixed together.
What you are spitting out is utter bs. I am an immigrant, i went through the lengthy green card process, I don't want reduced quotas, actually, I would want them to make the process easier. But, there SHOULD be a process, nobody should just walk into this country unchecked.
Regardless of what you think of Darryl Cooper( the "right wing historian" they bring up towards the end)and his more out landish views, God's Socialist is the most insightful podcast series Ive ever heard

Damn I absolutely love 2004 King Arthur, grew up watching it
Same here. Damn awesome. it's a great movie if you don't care about historical accuracy. It's got alot going for it.

The devil Cromwell trying to erase Shakespeare is among his worst crimes

Merlin and Mists of Avalon are my favorite Arthur related tv/cinema.
I just hope there more video that talk about other characters in Arthurian legend like sir kay or other knight
My child was born 10/01, two days before this live and he is called Arthur, what a coincidence
Like a Dragon is an interesting example, but in the Fate franchise, there's a character that's *literally* King Arthur.

If he wrote it, it is probably good.
The Saxons don't give AF about Arthur! I love this! Thanks again.
Also have you guys read the Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwall? Best Arthurian rendition ever
Totally agree! A wonderful Arthurian retelling

Breidon Hill translates as Hill Hill Hill in Welsh Saxon and Norman

You're one of the immigrants we want Mr Zhou have no fear
Why should the process be easier though?
@@kestrel8838 Maybe easier is not the right word, more like streamlined and transparent maybe? Right now, the whole process is just a maze.
well then that comment wasnt about you then.

Easier is better.
