This live performance is from the ABC774 Concert, held in the ABC Studios Melbourne. (April 5, 2011)
    LYRICS:
Everyone is trying to get to the bar.
The name of the bar, the bar is called heaven.
The band in heaven plays my favorite song.
They play it once again, they play it all night long.
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens
Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens.
There is a party, everyone is there.
Everyone will leave at exactly the same time.
When the party is over it'll start again
It will not be different, it'll be exactly the same
Heaven is a place, place where nothing ever happens
Heaven is a place, place where nothing ever happens.
When this kiss is over it will start again.
It will not be different, it will be exactly the same.
It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
Could be so exciting, could be so much fun.
Heaven is a place, a place where nothing ever happens
Heaven is a place, a place where nothing ever happens
Heaven is a place, a place where nothing ever happens.
    Songwriters: David Byrne/Jerry Harrison

This song sung by her has become a wonderful ballad where joy and evil make a note. KdLang is superb!

@Kohutuhutu I think this is right too. I always understood the song to be about monotony: "The band in heaven plays my favorite song. They play it once again, they play it all night long."

@sukeong lol, talking heads play with words as do most recording artists. I want my heaven to be like David Byrnes "Heaven" where some always happens :).

Hmmm, I believe the lyrics are indeed "a place where nothing ever happens". Message being; while we all strive for absolute utopia, if we actually got there it would be kinda boring. How can we really enjoy whats good if we dont know whats bad? In other words, be careful what you wish for. Things aint so bad in the real world so enjoy what we have.

Love it too. ..but i think she's got the lyrics wrong. David Byrne sings "nothing never happens" which is well synchronized with the rest of his song. k.d. sing "nothing ever happens" which could not be farther from the truth...according to David.

@72911e ... but I guess "nothing never happens" is grammatically wrong and doesn't make sense, compared to "nothing ever happens" which is correct. :-)
