The backstory of the characters Eno and Sasha shown here is pretty dark. The fact that these two kids witnessed so many horrors at such a young age is just depressing and along suffering horrible fates in the story.
It's also the fact that in Terra, this shit happens everywhere. Eno and Sasha were just steered in the wrong direction while surviving, further skewing their moral compass imo
As a person who knows Russian, I can confirm _that is the Russian language._ To be honest, I didn't hear this Arknight OST before. None the least, it's in Russian. It gives me a sense of inner joy hearing a language that is close to me being sung in an in-game OST. Amazing! Chills and tears.😌
I felt the same way when I heard Towards Her Light for the first time. I know the song isn't sung _in_ Irish, but it's enough to hear Celtic-inspired music in foreign media; especially when it's so well done! Hypergryph's music team are definitely deserving of some awards! 😊
Yeah, this song is in Russian as the relevant characters for it (Yelena/Frostnova, Eno/Mephisto, and Sasha/Faust) are from Arknight's equivalent to Russia, called Ursus. Specifically this is the song that Yelena would sing to Eno and Sasha to help them sleep. Arknights is very much a dark world in which there is almost no hope for the Infected, who are suffering from what is essentially magical rock cancer with a 100% fatality rate and is currently impossible to cure. The organization from which the story is told through, Rhodes Island, is trying to help the situation with the Infected and develop a cure but for the time being all they can do is buy a bit more time and make the symptoms more bearable. So basically every major character in the game has a very short lifespan, and typically suffer significant discrimination and abuse for their status as Infected. The Infected of Ursus in particular suffer worse than in other nations as the Ursus government actively encourages the population to dehumanize and hate the Infected, and will even send out squads of soldiers to hunt down and kill the Infected.
The Infected can actually have fairly long lifespans...with enough care to their health. Oripathy primarily shortens a person's lifespan by allowing it to propagate in their bodies very fast, whether by continues exposure to Originium in the environment or using the Originium in their body to cast powerful Arts
Well the way this crystal works on the body is very similiar to what happens after exposure to Tiberium in C&C universe on which the Originium was based.
A list of songs that I recommend checking out at your leisure: For the opera kinda classic songs you can check out: 1) Standchen (Ebenholz theme) 2) Winter cleansing (Shining theme) 3) Double dragons 4) Requiem 5) Silver lining (SilverAsh theme) And if you're feeling more modern honestly the list is quite massive: Renegade, CC9 Deepness for the pop rap style. Real me, CC1, Alive, All hail savior, and many more for that metal/rock flair. Stultifera Navis boss theme, Specter alter for that sea shanty style. CC10, CC8, CC4, CC2, Radiant, Eternal flame for the pop addictive quality. Spring pulse, Immutable, Spark for dream, Bluish light for that romantic calm feeling. Walk in the dust is the instrumental ver. Of Immutable. Rapier, Voices, and Under Tides PV have this dark souls eerie feel to them. Tipsy is the textbook definition of midnight bar jazz. March On is hype incarnate in the form of a national anthem kind of song. My personal list of favorites that I recommend checking out sooner rather than later is: Standchen, Requiem, Immutable, Dawnseeker, RealMe, and Double Dragons.
It becomes more heartbreaking if you know the backstory behind the song. This is Mephisto's theme (the white haired one), one of the main antagonist who meet his tragic end: Being deeply mentally ill, incredibly violent and sadistic, his childhood backstory heavily implies he doesn't understand the distinction of right and wrong in the first place, as he often justifies his violence as something righteous if he believes his friends would approve of it.Then he lost his friend, Faust (the black haired one) the only one who justifies his violence and his reason of existing. No longer having a purpose, he attempt to turn a new leaf, which results in him being transfigured into a Tragic Monster, and you're forced to take him down as he internally makes peace with his life and companions (mind you, you already faced him before, literally turning an entire city block as unwilling meat puppet zombie and causing chaos. Now he becomes one, with no one to control while slowly dying from the inside) By the way, welcome to Arknights, a mobile game with probably the most diverse music genre in a single game. There's a good reason why the community regards the developer more as a music company than game company. Nearly all character have their own themes Strongly recommend "Keep the Torch", one of Arknights' beautiful theme to listen. If lullaby is Russian, then a question for you is, have youever heard a mobile game with Ancient Greek theme?
@@therealcactoos9457 it does give the song some back story bout the important chara in this song. this song sung by frostnova to help mephisto sleep and when he become monster he still remember song but forgot who sang it
In pallas' theme case i think it's not actual greek but just gibberish that sounds similar to the language. But yeah, i do agree keep the torch is a banger.
Between Genshin, PGR, Arknights, the music in video games overall has ballooned in quality so much that you could easily listen to them and think they belong in an orchestral setting. And these are just the mobile games. The triple A titles have stellar music as well. Any audiophile out there is spoiled with choice.
"Arknights music is very good." You should listen to EVERY Contingency Contract lobby theme. They're fire. It's like Hypergryph (the game company) released a hit single every 3 months with a bonus of tower defense game.
This song always gets me in the feels. Even though miphesto did so many evil things (especially the children of ursus story, one of the darkness stories I've heard in a game), I still feel bad for him when he completely breaks down after Faust dies, and turns into the singer.
Ah yes, your exploring my favorite music company who happens to make a really good tower defense game. I'd suggest Requiem - Frostnova, Awaken - Specter the Unchained, Ensheath - Mlynar, Rhythm in Literature, Towards Her Light, Ständchen - Ebenholz, and so much more Arknights has so much good themes. Ebenholz theme is so much like a classic broadway song.
You forgot [Curtain's Call] Phantom's EP, though it's just instrumental only. You get everything the OST trying to convey: mystery, horror and tragedy...
Character themes are great, but dont forget game music! Dsdevr (stultifera navis boss theme), martyr (guiding ahead boss theme), all the Ideal City songs, CC themes like deepness, dawnseeker, pine soot, menu themes like Void and Tech, and the various battle themes, especially chapter 7's.
Lullabye is indeed sung in russian; this isn't just a stylistic choice with the song, but also Fitting IN THE STORY AND LORE the character that sings it is a young boy - the one in White in the image - known in present times as "Mephisto", who after having his voiced plugged by his family with a piece of Originium(a cancerous, if not radioactive rock that allows for Magic to be used, but also slowly kills those it Infects with its tumors) due to teaching his friend - the boy in rags, now known as Faust - to sing as well as sharing food with him in the story, you Kill Faust and practically kill Mephisto as they turned away from helping people in any peaceful manner, resorting to joining an extremist group known as Reunion; Mephisto specially lost himself in the violence of it all, using his powers to keep his soldiers barely a step away from death in order to order them around as Constantly Regenerating soldiers filled to the brim with Originium when Mephisto himself is about to die, his body starts breaking down and mutating into a Bird-like creature, both an image of his desire for freedom, as it is that of his song, the originium tucked away within his throat now amplifying his voice, allowing him to buff up his soldiers, protect himself and harm his enemies, a last resort simply known as The Singer, he's no longer mephisto, he's what remains of his body acting on the instinct Mephisto himself had, and this...Lullaby, is the way that He, not the violent commander and borderline torturer, but the once tortured child, says his goodbyes to the world, ready to join his already fallen friend on whatever awaits them in death the tale of Faust and Mephisto is a painful one, children both of them, one noble and one an Infected orphan, through their found passion in song they become closer and strike a friendship, only to be thwarted by the noble's family, who repudiate their child, shoving the very source of Infection down his throat, so he may never recover his status, and he may never sing again - yet in the end, should those fools look where their forlorn child ended up, they'd be able to hear the still echoing song of someone who took horrible choices and commited uncountable, unforgettable crimes against the lives of others, in hopes that those like him and his friend could, in time, live a better life than them
Let me correct you. It is not Mephisto who sings here, but Frostnova. In one of the dialogues, she mentioned that Sasha and Eno (current Mephisto and Faust) cannot fall asleep without her lullaby.
@@GrimmShane another correction. Mephisto didn't turn into the bird-like creature because he is almost dead. He remembers that the doctor got amnesia after entering the sarcophagus. He think that maybe if he got amnesia aswell he could begin anew and redeem himself. But when he enters it, instead of just losing his memory, he also turns into the bird-like creature. After the transformation his mind is basically broken. And he turns everyone around him into zombies aswell thinking that it would somehow help them
For those who want to know Arknights' lore and story, better to wait for the anime if you don't used to read a wall of text in a game... But for someone who likes visual novel, it's no problem for me as Arknights' lore is so freaking good just like the music...
Ah Yes. Finally, you reacted to Arknights soundtracks. The company is well known for the Game and still memed for the soundtracks as if it is a 'Music Company that make the game to publish their soundtracks'. Can't wait for your reaction to other soundtracks. My recommendation would be 'Keep the Torch', ' Stay Gold', 'Winter Absolution', and a song that also sung in Russia, 'Requiem'.
"Keep the Torch" and "Stay Gold" are a surprise. Two of my favorites, sure, but most people go immediately to "Radiant" or "Renegade". You've got great taste, and my respect.
YAY sooo happy to see my patreon pick 😃😊, i absolutely love Arknights its one of my favorite games ever from its story to its gameplay and of course its incredible music, lullaby was always one of favorites since the first time I heard it, when it started playing during the Singer boss i was brought to tears because of how tragic it was to fight the Singer while Frostnovas lullaby playing in the background. You are definitely correct when you said those 2 have suffered alot, the white haired one became sadistic with no sense of right or wrong by the cruel world of terra, they have caused alot of suffering as well (children of Ursus). Arknights main story is definitely not a happy one. And I feel pretty honored that my patreon pick is your first experience to Arknights music.
@@mikazukiaugus1273 I did indeed. I figured if he's Gunna start arknights on the channel why not start with a bang. All my picks for each month has been nothing but arknights music.
I recommend you check out Arknights' EP, "Winter Absolution." A leitmotif that paraphrased St. Thomas Aquinas' "pange lingua gloriosi." Gentle but the vocal has girt on it.
Finally, some Arknights musics. The franchise has a lot of good OST in-game or not. It would be interesting to see a reaction of you on Under Tides/Abyssal Hunters theme, one of my favorite in-game track. Great job as always 👍
As an Arknights veteran player, I loved to see your reaction to this song. This game has dozens of excellent and beautiful songs, so I'm looking forward to see more reactions. Thank you!
Marco doing Arknights now? aw hell yes, welcome to HyperGryph, the music company that also makes a Tower Defense Game. Jokes aside, AK’s music ranges from urban to classic, techno, metal, folk (like Lullaby or another one named “Requiem”) and many many others, it’s super great.
Some recommendations I recently found and I think they deserve some more attention: Library of ruina: Iron lotus Children of the city Lobotomy incorporation: Second warning
Oh man. I didn't even watch the video yet but I'm so happy you reacted to Arknights music. It's absolutely glorious. Woo, glad you are taking a peek at Arknights' music, as everyone has said they have quite the diverse music library for you to take a look at Should also be noted that the yearly concert is going to be online this year, it is called Ambience Synesthesia if you want to potentially check it out
Oh you found Arknights. Oh ho ho. You are in for a treat. I reccomend Requiem and Silver Lining as my favorites but there are so many awesome tracks from so many different styles. If you like Russian you'll definitely like Requiem.
backstory for the two characters Sasha and Eno, the blue haired and white haired boys respectively, are orphans. they grew up in a very militaristic country, Ursus. both struggled to survive. they also have Oripathy, basically rock cancer that enhances your abilities. having this cancer makes them like lepers, as they are vectors to the disease spread. they both hid their status to just earn a living by busking. as their status got revealed, they got scorned. as the country's government destabilized, they joined a resistance group consisting of similar status peoples from all around the world, but mostly Ursus. in the end, they both died tragically, with Sasha, now called Faust, dying a heroes death, and Eno, now called Mephisto, dying by succumbing to Oripathy and turning into a creature that sings to spread Oripathy. its a very tldr so I skipped a lot of details
Beautiful song, instantly reminded me of the late singer Origa who sung in Ghost in the Shell soundtracks. Absolutely love Russian sopranos, it was pleasure to listen to.
Whenever you get the chance, I'd recommend you check these out: CC#8 Operation Dawnseeker OST (may be my favorite song in Arknights at this point) (~ ̄▽ ̄)~ OST [ Awaken ] Specter The Unchained (initially I had mixed feelings but I grew to appreciate it) 🦈 Winter Cleansing (Shining Theme Song) (I think it's in latin so I don't understand from hearing it but I absolutely love it) 🗽 OST [ Прощание ] Hellagur Theme (may not appeal to everyone but it has a charm about it that I'm quite fond of) ❄ OST [Silver Lining] SilverAsh (I know most of the story pieces that almost every line alludes to and it's kind of magical) 🏔 OST [ Ständchen ] Ebenholz (classical with a modern infusion maybe? 🎸) OST [ Bluish Light ] Lumen (I. Love. This. ❤🔥) OST [ Eternal Flame ] Fiammetta (this is for the event dropping this Friday, it's lit cuz she's a phoenix lol 🔥) EP - [And Yet It Wanes] (jazzy and fun, makes me happy 🎺) EP - [Revel in the Real] (felt like I went on a wonderful mystical journey) 🐉 Bonus songs: Special song for my favorite character: POLINA - Keep Holding On 💪🏼 If I could dance, I would: CC#6 Operation Wild Scales OST 🕺🏼💃🏼 EP - [A Long Vacation] (this makes me feel happy, it's relaxing, fun, and nostalgic, I LOVE IT ❤🔥)
Frostnova sang this to Faust and Mephisto when they were kids pretty depressing the way they all went out ;_; Also fun fact this is the second phase theme for a boss in a tower defense game mind-blowing right?
Saying that things are "not great" in the Arknights universe would be an... understatement 😅 Very excited to (hopefully) follow you down this Arknights rabbit-hole journey! The soundtrack is full of so many great tracks of all genres. Hard to pick out just a few suggestions, but some of my favourites off the top of my head would be: Towards Her Light, Requiem, Прощание, Heal The World, Silver Lining, Ständchen, Radiant and Spark For Dream. And those are just the lyrical tracks, there are dozens of incredible instrumental pieces too! El Brillo Solitario, And Yet it Wanes, Curtain Call and Tipsy come to mind right away.
After having played the game and gone through the story this song is a theme for, I legitimately tear up every time I hear the song, and this time was no exception. Arknights is a good game, with a great story, however, it's also a very VERY dark story, in a dystopian world, so there isn't much joy to be had, from a lore / story standpoint. I'm looking forward to more reactions from the soundtrack (plenty of people have already suggested their preferences. I'm okay with whatever). Thank you for your reaction.
Ooo! You reacted to Arknights music, that's great! I'd love for you to react to some other music from the game edit: The words are indeed in Russian, and this song is actually the boss theme for the 2nd phase of the white hair boy's 2nd boss theme (but older, obviously)
NICE! ARKNIGHTS CONTENT WAS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR BUT I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT LULLABYE! I'm incredibly excited for this video and so glad we have dipped into Arknights content. Thanks a bunch for doing this one, I love it both in game and in context of the story.
Arknights player, here. It's great to see more people discovering just how amazing the game's discography is, whether you play the game or not-- and truly appreciating it. With how wide and vast the amount of genres the game explores in its sound, there truly is a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy listening to! The production quality is insane! And I honestly cannot recommend AK's music enough. Great Reaction!
other than in game bgm arknights also have released a lots of character image song, one of them [Winter Absolution] a rendition of Pange Lingua, a hymn by St. Thomas Aquinas is one of my favourite. hope one day your patreon will recommend this beautiful art to you.
I love how spot on you are on the situations. There is this music on the stage when this person awakens in the new state with innocence and tentative hope, just as you described!
The Russian language just makes this song. There's a truly haunting lilt to it that wouldn't be out of place in a twisted and creepy movie. The beginning is almost refreshing, like the fizzy tang of icy bitter lemon on a hot day. Those breathy vocals almost sweep over you. Then it changes into something vintage that's reminiscent of Edith Piaf's Little Bird voice. It instantly brings to mind cognac and brandy with cigar smoke and Mary Jane heels. It's a gorgeous piece of music.
you... need to make videos. while professional take is good for musics and such, your comparison with food and taste due to inate talent makes everything amazing to read to. because while i don't naturally match taste with sound, i understand by heart when you mention those flavors.gosh i love music review community on youtube
@@nekokasha_mizusu I would make videos, but a lot of artists, singers especially, can get a bit insulted sometimes. I use food words to describe how their music, their voice, tastes, and sometimes that means using words with negative connotations. Bitter, saccharine sweet etc. I would be walking too fine a line for my bull-in-a-china-shop personality. Reviewing music in a comment section is easier :)
I've only played Arknights for a couple of months, but still listen to its vocal tracks regularly. They're some of the most varied selection you can find.
Another good one to check out in a similar theme is called Requim. Also a Russian song. Arknights is great because they not only make soundtracks for every event in game, but also tons of music just for the community out of game. I really look forward to seeing you try out some more songs! It's nice not only to see AK get recognition but also for it's musicality to be broken down!
So pleasantly surprised to see this! I love Mephisto and Faust, and their story is tragic. I cried a lot when this song first came out, and I still tear up now. Looking forward to more AK! 💕
Arknights really has A TON of amazing music. Requiem and Real Me are also both amazing. Really excited to see you delve into Arknights!! p.s. The game also has some very good lobby and level musics too so I would recommend to checking them as well. AbyssalHunters, Guiding Ahead Lobby and Integrated Strategies 1 and 2 for Ex. psps. Vocal tracks usually have lyrics on them at a corner. Took me some time to realize so figured I would as may put it here 😅
Loved the analysis you did on this song. It's indeed one of the many emotional moments when going through the Arknights lore. I would recommend you also check out "March On!", from the recent Chapter 11. The Operatic and Melodic Metal elements mixed into this music are just awesome!
First I found you from reviewing Destiny ost, im surprised not many people that have music knowledge try to give their thoughts and such, and then Arknights, another game that I play and also surprisingly not many that review their music. They have great bangers and different genres of song, even their lobby theme song for certain special event is absolute banger. Looking forward to more of your video, especially on Arknights ost.
ARKNIIIIIIIIIGHTS A list of songs I'd suggest from Arknights are: El Brillo Solitario (Thorns theme), Proschaniya (Hellagur theme) which is also in russian, Undertopia (pozyomka theme), and some of the boss themes like The Golden Age Will Return Again, or Manfred's theme.
hol up, Arknights? I was not expecting you to cover this game, but a welcoming one. There are way too many themes to react to I'm excited for you to dive down the Arknight's rabbit hole! I'd recommend Requim which is Patriot and Frostnova's theme, Towerfierce, Art of Blade, Silverash's theme or even Hellagur's theme.
Ah, Arknights... Kinda wish I'd gotten into the game, but I have my hands full with Fire Emblem Heroes and AK's older sister Azur Lane (basically, WWII ships humanized to fight against alien invaders). Excellent music, and one of my favorite artists has done several characters for this game (banaNamie, an Australian artist who I found via Hololive).
This was one of first songs (along with Requiem and i love it too) from Arknights OST i listened to and i guess its the main reason why i play this game for about two years straight. Aaaaand as a native russian im still surprised they did this. I mean, there arent that much... things in media in russian and i feel this way every time i bump into something. Especially THIS beautiful
I’m so happy to hear your opinion about Arknights music, this game has insane soundtracks and they get better every time they release a new one. thank you for this video!!!
Now I really want to see you do more arknights OST, like IS2 theme or Stultifera Navis are both as amazing as the rest OST they create and some of my favorite in games
The reason I've been playing arknights nowadays is to keep up with their music Ps, I've never wished to subscribe to someone a hundred times as much as now
I am so glad you reacted to Arknights music! The soundtracks and osts from this game are legit straight bangers, and I hope you react more to them in future videos. Here are some of my favorites if you would like to react to them: 却阑珊 (Lee's theme) Awaken (Specter the Unchained Theme) Silver Lining (Silverash's theme) Dsdevr (Sultifera Navis Boss Ost) Overlooking from the Highland (Rosa's Theme) March On (Horn's Theme) 醉飞尘 (Ling's Theme) And literally all the CC music if you are into pop or rock Really enjoyed your reaction!
Second comment, I just finished the video, I love how you include your own experiences, I love how awed you sound and look when you are talking about the piece! And at the end, you got the right conclusion! The song is meant to invoke a sense of, "hope" in a very dark time. Spot on! You're very amazing and deserve every subscription you get 💕🍞
Oh you started to react to Arknights. You will not be disappointed with any music they have, all of them are bangers and they specialize in songs with vocals.
Arknights, a music company disguised as a mobile game company. Welcome to the musical world of Arknights! It's amazing how they also have theme music not just for the usual characters, but essentially boss enemies too. It shows their importance because their backstory, their motives, and their lives just as important as everyone, despite the wrongdoings they have done. Another Russian-themed Arknights song you should listen to are "Requiem" and "Proschaniye/Farewell"(Прощание)". The former is a song of two enemy bosses (Frostnova and Patriot), and the second is a theme for Hellagur, an Operator of Rhodes Island who also had a past with Patriot. Arknights's music genre is wide, and they also contain a multitude of opera-ish songs as well.
The boys truely are villains in many Arknights storys, but both of them are not born to evil. They even can't tell how every bad things smashed on themselves. The bully,Ursas army, the normal people, who's the murder? Why everyone pushed them to hell and became demons? What's more, nobody would renumber them besides our players in the world. The world is getting worse more, nothing well before and maybe so does the future.
Arknights loves to mix genres and has a massive diversity, you can basically find something for everyone. My favorites are always shifting, because there is so much choice, but for now is 'Immutable', the song for one of the main characters, and 'Spark for a Dream' (which is a fascinating mix of disney princess theme with a rap beat). 'Winter Absolution' should also be a very interesting listen for you as it is a Latin religiously themed song.
There's a joke in Arknights community that the devs created this game to promote their songs. They are really good, I'm glad that you listened to one of them. I highly recommend checking their "Requiem" song, this one hits really hard on an emotional level. Especially when you find out that "Requiem" takes its lines from a verse of a famous Russian poet Anna Akhmatova who's family members had been sent to russian camps in Siberia. Also, their "Under tides" main theme will be interesting for you to go through.
Hey, great to hear how beautiful you find Russian classical music. You've mentioned Russian opera singers, so you might find yourself interested in checking Alexander Gradsky, especially his performance with "How young we were" (Как молоды мы были), which he is kinds famous for. There is a great 1988 recording on UA-cam by "Александр Градский Как молоды мы были 1988"
The Arknights Soundtrack is wild. The diversity of genres and atmospheres they create is something else for sure.
Indeed my friend!!!

Lmao magical rock cancer 😂 a quite accurate description
The song is cute because it was written by non-native Russian speaker. Some grammatical constructions are very amazing for russian speaker ear.
Well the way this crystal works on the body is very similiar to what happens after exposure to Tiberium in C&C universe on which the Originium was based.

My personal list of favorites that I recommend checking out sooner rather than later is:
Standchen, Requiem, Immutable, Dawnseeker, RealMe, and Double Dragons.
I thought Shining's theme was called Winter Absolution
@@Where_would_I_go_without_you it might be a difference in translation cuz I think I saw both words used before.
might add the "disn*y princess" songs too, Awaken and Towards Her Light
Wrathful Cerulean Flame is also a good one for the violin folk out there. Mostly buildup, but it works well
Pls dont remind me about of requiem i cried like a baby just listening to it after frostnova died in my arknights account
Now he becomes one, with no one to control while slowly dying from the inside)
By the way, welcome to Arknights, a mobile game with probably the most diverse music genre in a single game. There's a good reason why the community regards the developer more as a music company than game company. Nearly all character have their own themes
Strongly recommend "Keep the Torch", one of Arknights' beautiful theme to listen. If lullaby is Russian, then a question for you is, have youever heard a mobile game with Ancient Greek theme?
It doesn’t help that this song is technically
Sung by FrostNova.
@@therealcactoos9457 it does give the song some back story bout the important chara in this song.
this song sung by frostnova to help mephisto sleep and when he become monster he still remember song but forgot who sang it
It sucks that Mephisto also wanted to be a singer, but is unable to due to his Oripathy.
In pallas' theme case i think it's not actual greek but just gibberish that sounds similar to the language. But yeah, i do agree keep the torch is a banger.
For Pallas theme, it's made up language
Between Genshin, PGR, Arknights, the music in video games overall has ballooned in quality so much that you could easily listen to them and think they belong in an orchestral setting. And these are just the mobile games. The triple A titles have stellar music as well. Any audiophile out there is spoiled with choice.
"Arknights music is very good."
You should listen to EVERY Contingency Contract lobby theme. They're fire.
It's like Hypergryph (the game company) released a hit single every 3 months with a bonus of tower defense game.
The best Arknights OST always be next one!
Dont sleep on arknights. The lore, the worldbuilding, the characters and especially music are massive and diverse
This song always gets me in the feels. Even though miphesto did so many evil things (especially the children of ursus story, one of the darkness stories I've heard in a game), I still feel bad for him when he completely breaks down after Faust dies, and turns into the singer.
Same, this made me think that there's no such thing as born monster, there's only those made to be one.
@@rezafebriansyah8620 exactly, gotta give props to hypergryph writers props for making someone so easy to hate sympathetic.
Kind of them to also give us a tower defense game as a extra.
If there s awaken n towards her light, then silver link is a must too
Wait there's a game there? I thought it was just an MP3 player for my phone with a funny looking UI.
Arknights has many great sound tracks. I greatly recommend the "phantom castle" battle theme, which is inspired by phantom of the opera.
Is this from the IS#2? Because the boss music sounds like it's mocking you.
@@rezafebriansyah8620 yep
Lullabye is indeed sung in russian; this isn't just a stylistic choice with the song, but also Fitting IN THE STORY AND LORE
the character that sings it is a young boy - the one in White in the image - known in present times as "Mephisto", who after having his voiced plugged by his family with a piece of Originium(a cancerous, if not radioactive rock that allows for Magic to be used, but also slowly kills those it Infects with its tumors) due to teaching his friend - the boy in rags, now known as Faust - to sing as well as sharing food with him
in the story, you Kill Faust and practically kill Mephisto as they turned away from helping people in any peaceful manner, resorting to joining an extremist group known as Reunion; Mephisto specially lost himself in the violence of it all, using his powers to keep his soldiers barely a step away from death in order to order them around as Constantly Regenerating soldiers filled to the brim with Originium
when Mephisto himself is about to die, his body starts breaking down and mutating into a Bird-like creature, both an image of his desire for freedom, as it is that of his song, the originium tucked away within his throat now amplifying his voice, allowing him to buff up his soldiers, protect himself and harm his enemies, a last resort simply known as The Singer, he's no longer mephisto, he's what remains of his body acting on the instinct Mephisto himself had, and this...Lullaby, is the way that He, not the violent commander and borderline torturer, but the once tortured child, says his goodbyes to the world, ready to join his already fallen friend on whatever awaits them in death
the tale of Faust and Mephisto is a painful one, children both of them, one noble and one an Infected orphan, through their found passion in song they become closer and strike a friendship, only to be thwarted by the noble's family, who repudiate their child, shoving the very source of Infection down his throat, so he may never recover his status, and he may never sing again
- yet in the end, should those fools look where their forlorn child ended up, they'd be able to hear the still echoing song of someone who took horrible choices and commited uncountable, unforgettable crimes against the lives of others, in hopes that those like him and his friend could, in time, live a better life than them
Let me correct you. It is not Mephisto who sings here, but Frostnova. In one of the dialogues, she mentioned that Sasha and Eno (current Mephisto and Faust) cannot fall asleep without her lullaby.
@@eer3 thanks for correcting me, been awhile since I read that part of the story
And he turns everyone around him into zombies aswell thinking that it would somehow help them
@@Hindshell5438 once again, thanks for correcting me, really need to brush up my lore
Ursus language
Marco has officially opened the Arknights themed "Pandora's Box"
Arknights has an amazing soundtrack and it's diverse as well. Definitely recommend checking out the rest.
You picked that?
You absolute madman...
You just straight up took him out of the frying pan and into the fire, huh...
@@mikazukiaugus1273 I did indeed. I figured if he's Gunna start arknights on the channel why not start with a bang. All my picks for each month has been nothing but arknights music.
Thank you, Surtr main. May the truckload of ice cream blesses you
@@rizreighnand6471 thanks kind Stranger, hopefully it's coffee flavored 😋
Some recommendations I recently found and I think they deserve some more attention:

Children of the city
Lobotomy incorporation:

I am so happy you decided to check out Arknights's music, I highly recommend the song Standchen from them.
Woo, glad you are taking a peek at Arknights' music, as everyone has said they have quite the diverse music library for you to take a look at
Should also be noted that the yearly concert is going to be online this year, it is called Ambience Synesthesia if you want to potentially check it out
Oh you found Arknights. Oh ho ho. You are in for a treat.
I reccomend Requiem and Silver Lining as my favorites but there are so many awesome tracks from so many different styles. If you like Russian you'll definitely like Requiem.
backstory for the two characters
Sasha and Eno, the blue haired and white haired boys respectively, are orphans. they grew up in a very militaristic country, Ursus. both struggled to survive. they also have Oripathy, basically rock cancer that enhances your abilities. having this cancer makes them like lepers, as they are vectors to the disease spread. they both hid their status to just earn a living by busking. as their status got revealed, they got scorned. as the country's government destabilized, they joined a resistance group consisting of similar status peoples from all around the world, but mostly Ursus. in the end, they both died tragically, with Sasha, now called Faust, dying a heroes death, and Eno, now called Mephisto, dying by succumbing to Oripathy and turning into a creature that sings to spread Oripathy.
its a very tldr so I skipped a lot of details
Better have a short explanation than something unreasonably long, great summary imo.
Beautiful song, instantly reminded me of the late singer Origa who sung in Ghost in the Shell soundtracks. Absolutely love Russian sopranos, it was pleasure to listen to.
You know he feel the song when he mentions this children is suffering
Should check out "Requiem" of Arknights, it also is folk song that uses verses of Anna Akhmatova's poetry. Love your voice, by the way. 👍
It seems actually kind of interesting to see your reaction to the Arknights Pallas theme song, Keep the Torch
Whenever you get the chance, I'd recommend you check these out:
CC#8 Operation Dawnseeker OST (may be my favorite song in Arknights at this point) (~ ̄▽ ̄)~
OST [ Awaken ] Specter The Unchained (initially I had mixed feelings but I grew to appreciate it) 🦈
Winter Cleansing (Shining Theme Song) (I think it's in latin so I don't understand from hearing it but I absolutely love it) 🗽
OST [ Прощание ] Hellagur Theme (may not appeal to everyone but it has a charm about it that I'm quite fond of) ❄
OST [Silver Lining] SilverAsh (I know most of the story pieces that almost every line alludes to and it's kind of magical) 🏔
OST [ Ständchen ] Ebenholz (classical with a modern infusion maybe? 🎸)
OST [ Bluish Light ] Lumen (I. Love. This. ❤🔥)
OST [ Eternal Flame ] Fiammetta (this is for the event dropping this Friday, it's lit cuz she's a phoenix lol 🔥)

@@MarcoMeatball Sure, no problem, I hope you can enjoy them as much as I do.
Arknights has so many different musical genres. Really looking forward to more reactions!
Frostnova sang this to Faust and Mephisto when they were kids pretty depressing the way they all went out ;_; Also fun fact this is the second phase theme for a boss in a tower defense game mind-blowing right?
Saying that things are "not great" in the Arknights universe would be an... understatement 😅
Very excited to (hopefully) follow you down this Arknights rabbit-hole journey! The soundtrack is full of so many great tracks of all genres. Hard to pick out just a few suggestions, but some of my favourites off the top of my head would be:
Towards Her Light, Requiem, Прощание, Heal The World, Silver Lining, Ständchen, Radiant and Spark For Dream.
And those are just the lyrical tracks, there are dozens of incredible instrumental pieces too! El Brillo Solitario, And Yet it Wanes, Curtain Call and Tipsy come to mind right away.
Hell yea been waiting for this.
I really love your reaction vid!!
❤️❤️
After having played the game and gone through the story this song is a theme for, I legitimately tear up every time I hear the song, and this time was no exception.
Arknights is a good game, with a great story, however, it's also a very VERY dark story, in a dystopian world, so there isn't much joy to be had, from a lore / story standpoint.
I'm looking forward to more reactions from the soundtrack (plenty of people have already suggested their preferences. I'm okay with whatever).
Thank you for your reaction.
Ooo! You reacted to Arknights music, that's great! I'd love for you to react to some other music from the game
edit: The words are indeed in Russian, and this song is actually the boss theme for the 2nd phase of the white hair boy's 2nd boss theme (but older, obviously)
It's gonna be heart wrenching when you learn the lore behind those 2 characters in this song.
NICE! ARKNIGHTS CONTENT WAS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR BUT I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT LULLABYE!
I'm incredibly excited for this video and so glad we have dipped into Arknights content. Thanks a bunch for doing this one, I love it both in game and in context of the story.
i've been waiting for you to discuss AK music!! thank you for this!!
Oh Undertopia is a recent one that is really good, another really good one would be Awaken. Both are great, and so is Lullaby.
You'll have a real rollercoaster with Arknights, their OSTs are fantastically curated and varied!
Indeed., Arknights has the most variety of music out of any game, and i absolutely love it.
Anyone here feels like the IS#2 Boss BGM mocking at us fighting Blood Diamond?
Finally! I'm waiting for your arknights music reviews hope you'll review their other songs too
I was gonna recommend this in comments thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Can’t wait for more Arknights in the future!

I love how spot on you are on the situations. There is this music on the stage when this person awakens in the new state with innocence and tentative hope, just as you described!
I highly recommend you take a gander at Operation Pyrite and Requiem
Thanks for revieming this song ,another one you might like [ Awaken ] Specter The Unchained / Stultifera Navis
You have to see this song in the Japanese version, Yostar included this song in the anime series from this game
This song recently got sung in the arknights anime..... its worth seeing, trust me. Season 2 episode 2
Yes yes, should hearing the japanese version! That so stunning!! ❤❤❤
Arknights has a lot of really different music in it. it's really amazing how diverse it is (we call the devs a music company XD)
I never knew I would ever bawl my eyes out when fighting a boss in a video game, but I did in Arknights when I got to this point…
There are s lot of bangers and many beautiful soundtracks in this game. I recommend checking out two in particular called "Dsdevr" and "Awaken".
So pleasantly surprised to see this! I love Mephisto and Faust, and their story is tragic. I cried a lot when this song first came out, and I still tear up now. Looking forward to more AK! 💕
I would recommend abyssalhunters track since its one of more... interesting ones.
Took me some time to realize so figured I would as may put it here 😅
Great stuff! As an arknights vet and avid fan of the soundtrack I'd love to see more reactions to arknights music
Loved the analysis you did on this song. It's indeed one of the many emotional moments when going through the Arknights lore.
I would recommend you also check out "March On!", from the recent Chapter 11. The Operatic and Melodic Metal elements mixed into this music are just awesome!
Yoooo, never thot you'd do Arknights. Hope to see more of it!
Это было замечательно!
ARKNIIIIIIIIIGHTS
A list of songs I'd suggest from Arknights are: El Brillo Solitario (Thorns theme), Proschaniya (Hellagur theme) which is also in russian, Undertopia (pozyomka theme), and some of the boss themes like The Golden Age Will Return Again, or Manfred's theme.
I just love how music creates a sea of emotions.
hol up, Arknights? I was not expecting you to cover this game, but a welcoming one. There are way too many themes to react to I'm excited for you to dive down the Arknight's rabbit hole!
I'd recommend Requim which is Patriot and Frostnova's theme, Towerfierce, Art of Blade, Silverash's theme or even Hellagur's theme.
This song brings me to tears every time I listen to it.
Ah, Arknights... Kinda wish I'd gotten into the game, but I have my hands full with Fire Emblem Heroes and AK's older sister Azur Lane (basically, WWII ships humanized to fight against alien invaders). Excellent music, and one of my favorite artists has done several characters for this game (banaNamie, an Australian artist who I found via Hololive).
ursus story is so dark , in files of tachanka (r6s collab) .
There's a story tachanka feel so angry after listening ursus student survivors
This was one of first songs (along with Requiem and i love it too) from Arknights OST i listened to and i guess its the main reason why i play this game for about two years straight.
Aaaaand as a native russian im still surprised they did this. I mean, there arent that much... things in media in russian and i feel this way every time i bump into something. Especially THIS beautiful
I’m so happy to hear your opinion about Arknights music, this game has insane soundtracks and they get better every time they release a new one. thank you for this video!!!
Since you like Russian, Hellagur's theme would be great to listen to.
Now I really want to see you do more arknights OST, like IS2 theme or Stultifera Navis are both as amazing as the rest OST they create and some of my favorite in games
the boss music in SN is Dsdevr yeh!
The reason I've been playing arknights nowadays is to keep up with their music
Ps, I've never wished to subscribe to someone a hundred times as much as now
Aw thank you!!!
Its great to hear your thoughts on the song. I mostly like song but hardly able to explain it myself why I appreciate it.
Of course!
I am so glad you reacted to Arknights music! The soundtracks and osts from this game are legit straight bangers, and I hope you react more to them in future videos. Here are some of my favorites if you would like to react to them:
却阑珊 (Lee's theme)
Awaken (Specter the Unchained Theme)
Silver Lining (Silverash's theme)
Dsdevr (Sultifera Navis Boss Ost)
Overlooking from the Highland (Rosa's Theme)
March On (Horn's Theme)
醉飞尘 (Ling's Theme)
And literally all the CC music if you are into pop or rock
Really enjoyed your reaction!
Great reaction and analysis as always. Adding to the requests for Requiem or Awaken from Arknights.
Second comment, I just finished the video, I love how you include your own experiences, I love how awed you sound and look when you are talking about the piece! And at the end, you got the right conclusion! The song is meant to invoke a sense of, "hope" in a very dark time. Spot on! You're very amazing and deserve every subscription you get 💕🍞
❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you so much!
Oh you started to react to Arknights. You will not be disappointed with any music they have, all of them are bangers and they specialize in songs with vocals.
Thank you for listening one of the best AK music!
This game has a lot of great musics btw.
Woah, you actually did it! Arknights has alot of bangers I would highly recommend you listening to even if it is just in your free time! Thank you!
There are loads of genres in arknights, i hope to see you reacting to more arknights music in the future Mr. Marco!
Welcome to Arknights! The most musically diverse video game out there I can think of at the moment!
Glad that you reviewed this song

Nice reaction sir, love the Arknights music reaction, please keep it coming 🔥
Hey, great to hear how beautiful you find Russian classical music. You've mentioned Russian opera singers, so you might find yourself interested in checking Alexander Gradsky, especially his performance with "How young we were" (Как молоды мы были), which he is kinds famous for.
There is a great 1988 recording on UA-cam by "Александр Градский Как молоды мы были 1988"
Arknights' soundtrack is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. I hope you'll check out more!!!
[ Прощание ] Hellagur Theme would be another song you'd have to react to! Russian used in AK songs are absolutely immaculate for its storytelling :3
Arknight's soundtrack is extremely diverse with tons of cool blends of genre
