- Introduction to legendary Merle Haggard (he opened for George Strait), and his performance of "Big City". He had pneumonia and laryngitis, but did a good job. I don't own any rights to this song.
We do love Merle Haggard's SINGING since the 1968. He is the Best EVER.

Couldn’t agree more. I always tell people that he was the total package. Songwriting, singing, band leading, and guitar picking. Merle was the real deal.

2 Month's before we seen him at the Portland Zoo...Portland, Oregon. I Believe it was June 14 of 2014 or the 21st..It was a great concert, But I could see he was fading fast...We were the crowd that drew the attention from Merle looking left if on the stage....He was so Cool, & so funny...! :)

Nobody comes anywhere close to singing as good as Meryl. He is the BEST EVER. Music a little to Loud but maybe for a Reason. Wissh He would have got some REST The Last Few Years of His Life. He Sure Deserves it. We LOVE

Nothing against George Strait - but THE HAG was opening for somebody?!?!
That's what I thought too! But, he was the kind of man that knew where he stood and had respect for George Strait and knows when it's time to step aside and let the Stars go after him. He made George Strait, and George will be the first one to tell you that!
@@karenenderle532 I hadn't been following the modern country scene till maybe 4 years ago, and all I kept hearing when I did, was what a legend Haggard was, to a greater extent than I heard it about George. Like, he's in a JerryJeff song, every singer talks about him, he's up there nearly with Cash, above him in many people's eyes. And it appeared to me that George himself looked up to him. Didn't occur to me that George is the one that sets stadium records and is somehow kind of more mainstream.
