One major thing to keep in mind with Metroid Fusion is it was a portable game in an era where we couldnt put the console to sleep. Gameboy games sometimes followed this mentality but sometimes didnt (Metroid2 did not). By the GBA era Nintendo especially was deliberately designing the game in a way to be bite-sized play times, hence the mass of save stations. The whole reason the Gameboy exists is because one of the designers saw a guy playing with a calculator on a train, its meant to be played in transit not necessarily played like a normal game. If the game was too vast between save points, people would be less likely to want it because their trip they want it for would make playing it a chore. Metroid Fusion rarely lasts more than 10m before you bump into a save station, so it fits the "im on a train for 10-15m..." mentality
This is a good point that I agree with, however, saying that you couldn't put the console to sleep isn't entirely correct considering both of the Metroid games on the GBA had a sleep function on the pause menu.

They asked me for help, but I hadn't played Dread for a long time and I also hadn't seen them shoot the bottom block of that wall, so it didn't occur to me that the game wanted you to shoot more of the wall any time soon. It took us a very long time to figure it out.
I liked your review of Fusion a lot better. I love your take on Samus herself feeling limited and underpowered, with SA-X being able to sequence break and have all her most powerful and iconic abilities. It was really cool seeing Samus sort of the way a space pirate would, I try to channel that SA-X attitude into my own gameplay when I start feeling too much anxiety haha
4:48:04 Not even mentioning her actual father that raised her until she was about 8, when her entire planet got genocided by Ridley's space pirates 4:51:10 To be fair to Adam, he didn't want Samus there. He was well aware that the station was built by a rogue federation military group that was experimenting on and cloning Metroids. Which is the whole reason he went there. He didn't want Samus getting caught up in the mess though This rogue group is also behind the BSL station in Metroid Fusion, as well as (theoretically) uploading Adam's mind to a computer and using his surviving vague personality to manipulate Samus. 5:17:17 Nightmare was a gravity manipulating bio-weapon being developed by the rogue military group I mentioned earlier. Given how both the Bottleship and BSL station were acting as secret research labs for them, it makes sense there was a Nightmare weapon on both. Or perhaps Nightmare was recovered from the debris and later taken to the BSL for repairs, where the X got it 5:19:35 It can be explained easily and is even shown in-game. Not all of the Metroids have been altered. Otherwise, you could never beat the Queen. The Metroid Adam shot was one of the normal ones. But there are a lot of modified Metroids in Sector 0, which Samus wouldn't be able to beat. That said, if a powerbomb can eliminate the Queen, it should be able to kill the modified Metroids anyway. Only reason against that would be damaging the Bottleship, but Adam has Sector 0 Jettisoned anyway, and Samus can survive the vacuum of space, temporarily. In the time, she could just call her ship. Basically, it is explained that she can't beat them with ice weapons. But she can still beat them and there's no reason for her not to, so Adam shooting her has no good excuse. I guess he just overreacted. 5:23:25 I died like 7 times, until I noticed the charge bar going up. Then I realised, powerbombs. It was probably meant to be a bit of a meta moment, where the player has completely taken back their agency, no need to be told you can do it, you just do it. But by this point, you're too trained on seeing the unlock screen. Maybe if there was a cutscene earlier where Samus was forced to use a powerbomb to eliminate a bunch of Metroids swarming her, before the fight, it would have been ok.
Ive watched all these separately before but youre mention of MP1 avoiding making Samus feel like a floating gun really allows me to finally put into words why i didnt care for skyrim, i felt like a floating sword no matter what i did or how i played/modded the game. 1:20:10 There is one, but it has a very complex set of moves to do when doing so, then after you do it you're rewarded for doing so by the AI.
1:35:25 "you wouldn't download a car would ya"
1:38:12 I kind of see where you're coming from, but at the same time that took some years off my life.
Metroid Fusion is the first Metroid I beat and really enjoyed
how did u make the custom Dan Owsen clips?
Hey, so, what is the name of the music playing during session 2 and 3 of metroid 2? Its so good its distracting me and i cant pay attentio to what you say on that part
If you think I'm gonna sit through 10 hours of some geek talkin about Metroid, YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT I AM!🗿
4K is my era, im still in it
I love the zero mission ost I appreciate the achievements of the composers despite hardware limitations
It’s my sleepover and I get to pick the movie!
Ur so original.
@@tehparol thank you!
Guess you could say the playlist has been super annuated eh?
Yoooo thanks for this
you're great dude, I think you should check out the Metal Gear series, I think you'd love it.
Just what I was looking for. not needing to use the UA-cam playlist feature.
This will be my evening ASMR from now on.
Hahahaha I just did this myself the other day to re-celebrate the Dread review. Looks like we're doing it again lol
Lover that you used the US dub sailor moon song 🤣 8:36:07
I was planning on editing all the videos in the series together into one video for binge-watching convenience, thanks for saving me some time!
59:39 "just a poor imitation of the real thing", UA-cam cuts to an ad for Star Trek Discovery before Federation Force logo shows up. Got a good chuckle, UA-cam stealing the set for its own Punchline, lol
Now that you've done the Metroid series. I hope you'll do other Metroidvanias
I know Hollow Knight is one you'll love, very gameplay focused, it's the dark souls of Metroidvanias.
My headcanon about the scan visor is that samus modifies entries on her own. This seems likely to me, what with her notes.
small nitpick, some of the links mentioned to be in the description are not. would be cool if this collection of videos also had them, if they still work.
2:34:17 What did you mean by "I see what they did there?" I feel like I'm missing out on something.
Also, I hope at some point you go on to talk about Metroid Prime Hunters, as a shorter video or something (since there isn't too much in the way of single player content). And maybe Federation Force too (but I'm not pushing for that one).
Please. WHAT IS THE REMIX HE USES AT THE START OF EVERY VIDEO?! I CAN'T FIND IT?!
Don't know if you're plannig on doing it, but I'd love to see you going over the DKC games again, including the Land series
This is so great
Hey
Eyy, this is honestly really convenient, as I have been meaning to re-watch the old ones! However, you've yet to do a standalone video on Metroid Prime Pinball, so it can't *exactly* be called "complete". :v
I think josh didnt get prime 1s beam combos like the ice spreader or the flamethrower, the wave buster makes quick work of those wave beam pirates
