    Hi. I’m french and I live at around 50 km of Paris in a cool place very protected from the light pollution of big towns. I’m waiting impatiently for my Dob ES (16’’) 406/1825 I ordered some days ago. I hope it will not be too long to receive it but in these times of trouble it’s not sure at all. 👍👌👍

    I got myself an explore scientific 16
    I was told that you should not tilt the telescope lower than 20 degrees
    I can't find this on your site
    THANKS

    • @billleonard2015
      @billleonard2015 3 роки тому +6

      @@brianhusk4593 Any of several things: don't assemble the telescope pointing straight up - if you drop something (like a bolt) where is it most likely to land? Instead, lean the telescope over so that if you drop a bolt, it lands on the floor. Cut a cover to fit over the mirror in case a gravity wave should cause the bolt to fall obliquely onto the mirror. Tie a string to the bolt and secure it to the head end to stop it from dropping at all. (The manufacturer should have used captive bolts.)

    On my Dob1245 the weld seams were cracked and the main mirror was resting on the central screws of the 3 load distributors. At an inclination of 15 ° to the horizon, the mirror jumped over the rollers and was lying loose in the mirror box. Luckily there are nylon straps that prevent it from tipping over. The speakers were full of aluminum chips, the crossbars in the rocker box on which the entire load rests were not even welded to the frame of the rocker box, the mirror was checked by me .but it had damage to the coating. The parable still looks good but the edge of the mirror is lowered, you will have to put a mask of about 5-8 mm outside of it to get a better picture, all in all the purchase of the 1245 was a failure and that's why I will send it back .

    • @werner7156
      @werner7156 9 місяців тому

      @Tweety4bunny1 The least you should do is clamp the rollers so tightly that they can't turn at all!
      Sorry if I take the easy route, the easiest thing would be for you to find out more in the forum posted, my conversion was very extensive and it can't be described so easily here.
      I tried 3 times to give you a link so you can understand the conversion, but then I am immediately blocked here. Exploler probably doesn't want to allow that

    Is the Costco version basically the Gen 1 and this is the upgraded Gen 2? If not what is the difference between this and the Costco version?

    • @MarkoPola
      @MarkoPola 4 роки тому +1

      I have the costco version. It's similar to this design except the secondary cage is closed (which i like to prevent stray light). The other differences is it only comes with a single speed 2" inch focuser (i plan to upgrade mine in the future) and the mirror box does not have cooling fans. But for $599 its a great deal for what you get.

      Jazzzyjay awesome! I was out with mine last night too. My 3rd time with it. I found Ceres and Neptune for the first time and was getting in some practice star hopping. The included 20mm 70 degree eyepiece definitely works great for finding things. I also purchased a couple higher power eyepiece from the Explore Scientific 82 degrees series which are stunning to look thru on this scope. Clear skies!

      I think the Costco version is what ES calls hybrid truss not full truss and yes I like it more because a solid tube is better but bigger. At 10” it works perfect. 12” and greater I think the full truss makes more sense.

    why the primary mirror don't have cover for when assembling the telescope?
    is it possible to put both RACI finder and rigel/telrad ?

    • @ExploreScientificOfficial
      @ExploreScientificOfficial  4 роки тому +1

      The mirror box has a lid to cover the primary mirror when the telescope is not in use.
      The secondary cage has an Explore Scientific/Meade-style foot for finder scopes. You can put a Right Angle Correct Image there, and also attach a Telrad on another part of the case using the Telrad's stick-down base.

      Please contact Customer Service at 866-252-3811. Be aware that minor scratches do not affect the performance of the optics. McDonald Observatory has a large reflector telescope with bullet holes in the mirror. And, effectively, all Newtonian telescopes have a big hole in them -- right in the middle where the secondary is.
      Customer Service can work with you to determine of the scratch is more than minor.
