Great video! I completely agree as an M1. I've consistently heard that extracurriculars are not as important to matching as they were in getting admission to medical school. However, I believe that research is critical and considered separate from other extracurriculars.
Why does “perceived interest in specialty” equate to research in the field when further down the list there is “demonstrates involvement and interest in research?”

research is one of the many facets to show interest in that field. Interest can be shown through leadership, clubs, advocacy work as well
