Here's an easy guide for a cobblestone generator
When water hits lava first
- Lava will become obsidian
When lava hits water first
- the flowing lava becomes cobblestone
So basically you want to stop the water from flowing into lava.
So
Hole 1 (Water)
Hole 2 (1 extra hole down, water flow downwards instead)
Hole 3 (Lava Flow)
Hole 4 (Lava)
So dig the proper holes, place water, then lava, then boom. Hole 3 will be where the cobblestone is made.
When you mine the cobblestone, Crouch and face the direction of the water and mine cobblestone, so the block will pop out flying towards the water and you will pick it up after.
If lava hit the water it will turned into stone

Cjha Edaten and stone turns into cobble stone with out silktouch
So basically dig 1 hole then after that skip one grass block next to the 1 hole you digged then dig out 4 holes next to the grass block you skipped, after that put the lava in the 1 hole you digged out then put the water on the other side from the lava, then wait until the water flows to the other side were the lava is and then break the block you skipped.

Impromptu cobble gen instructions.
Step 1: dig a 4 block trench one block deep in a straight line. (For simplicity, lable the trench ”1, 2, 3, &4" in order for each block of air in the trench.
Step 2: dig an extra block down under ”2” and place ice in ”1”. Then break.
(The "2" space should be 1 block deeper than the other three.)
Step 3: out lava source in ”4” block.
You should have water source in ”1”, water flow in ”2”, lava flow into the water at space ”3”, and lava source at ”4”.

I love how even after so many tries, they still haven’t gotten the generator correct... I do like the right angle they got there but it’s not right. Their previous design was fine with the one block down straight line but they were blocking the lava, not water. It should be you block the water since the lava is a lot slower and then you wait til the lava reaches the one block(or 2) deep hole THEN reals the water
