First Beginner's guide I ever made for the channel, I hope this helps new players getting into the game! Thankfully GBVS is one of the easiest fighting games to get into. A couple notes on the video: If you are down to 1 bravery point - you take 20% more damage, and if 0 Bravery points, you take 50% more damage. Forgot to cover this in the video Also technical inputs can matter mid combo, as long as you aren't canceling from a normal, then you still get the damage buff.
I‘m not that big of a fighting game player but I always regretted not getting into Granblue while it was still somewhat active. This game game looks so pretty and fun I‘ll definitely give it a try this time around. As a fellow Zooey enjoyer I look forward to your videos. Small bit of feedback at the end. Really enjoyed your beginner guide, but had to look up a few things because I don‘t know the lingo that well yet. Or maybe give fgc glossary a short shoutout so people know where to look stuff up.
Diaphone, you keep locking down the title for highest quality on-screen graphics for tutorials. The way you couple them with gameplay examples is just *chef's kiss*. Thanks for putting in so much effort whether it's you, your editor (if you have one), or both.
Frustrating games can’t have great videos like this IN game. Like the old blazblue CT tutorial vids. Those were absolutely incredible. Instead of thumbing through a big glossary
I missed the GBVS boat by a few months when I got into fighting games in early 2020, so I'm really glad Granblue and I get to have a second chance (in much better conditions this time). I'm looking forward to labbing Nier and Cag setups.
My whole gratitude to you for this video and for always replying back on X/Twitter whenever you have time. This video is what made me play seriously GBVSR. Thanks again!
A bunch of my buds came over for the early access yesterday, and they really clicked with the game! This vid will be perfect for them, seeing as most of em dont have FG experience.
I was labbing with the abilities and supers pertaining to technical vs simple controls. There isn't any noticable different concerning damage output when used in combos. The only time I think the 10% damage buff happens when using technical vs simple controls is during the first hit of the combo. So if you DP with the technical controls you get that 10% extra damage. But if you use technical controls after a L,M or H attack -- even if its on counter -- it does the same damage as simple controls. Just like you stated in your video, not using the skill button gives you a handicap.
Thanks for this! Never played the serie at all, but whenever the game comes out on steam, I really want to try it out. Big fan of Fire emblem and the character looks like they would fit in both series.
I sure hope this game goes on sales frequently. Not even a year ago I'd gotten the original and a couple of DLC characters, and I'm not about to spend full price on all of it again for what to me are minimal changes (I'm just not that deep into fighting games).
Thanks for this! If you don't already, I hope you give Relink and the original mobile game a go. The story is amazing. I love this franchise so I hope more people get involved with all the different facets of it.
@@Diaphone Right on! I hope we can do some endgame content together when the time comes for Relink! The mobile game is pretty crazy. The GBFwiki has all the events and fate episodes on it if you're ever curious to learn more!
Great guide thanks! One thing, unless I'm missing something double tap forward is different from dash macro. Fwd, fwd (hold) gives you your dash attacks but using the dash macro and no direction input allows you to do your neutral normals from dash. Of course you can just let go of a direction while dashing but the macro allows for easier execution and generally get closer if the opponent allows it.
Thank you for this! Very helpful, straight to the point, and well made! Super easy to follow as well especially with the input display and zoom in of UI elements! Looking forward to picking this up on PC in a few days!
The dash macro is a bit problematic because you actually have to input ➡️+da+attack. learning the timing for inputing ⏩️+attack might be more useful, but that's just the feeling I got
super small thing about dash attacks, you still need to press forward -> and the attack button, even if using the dash button. So Dash + Light needs to be Dash + forward + light, else your character will just do their light normal. Idk if Im just messing it up, but thats what i had to do.
After playing guilty gear strive for months(first fighting game I've actually been committed too), I went into this game with the same mindset and got my shit rocked, this guide helps a lot now time to get my ones back💪😤
Idk if you remember me Diaphone but i use to play you back in rank when GBVS dropped I was a Ferry Player :D im glad that ill be picking this up again This deff gave me a refresher! Hope to play you again sometime!
Amazing vidéo for newcomers, GBVS is my FG of heart I'm so happy to see the game revival with a lot more people wanting to try it, can't wait for the 14! Only 2 days guys & girls !
Thank you for this guide! Apparently if you roll through a special it adds additional time to the opponents cooldown of that special? That’s pretty slick if so and good to consider against projectiles.
Thanks for share your knowledge. I'll try the free version from this game, it's a little expensive here in Brazil haha. So thanks again. I'll be waiting for other guide videos ♥
Got the game for free through PS+ a while back, but didn't really play it cause of the netcode. I'm excited to jump into it and learn a slower, more neutral and grounded 2D fighting game since I mostly play air-dashers and platform fighters.
so two things about supers i think are important to mention SSBAs can only be used at below 30% health, you can't just whip them out once you get meter. there are two tech inputs for supers, 236236H or 236S. despite one of the using the skill button it's still a tech input and will net you the 10% damage bonus. it's just significantly easier and faster, which is baffling.
One thing to add: there are no DP shortcuts such as 323 or 636 like in SF6. So, better get used to that skill button, or else reversals on wake ups is going to be tough.
It seems that Bravery Points are vital that you have to spend it carefully when using it as an offensive and a defensive tool otherwise you’ll get more vulnerable to damage when you have lesser points. Do you think that hitting the opponent with a Raging Strike will let them perform a Bravery Counter without the cost of a single point for them to have enough points throughout the round?
Now that I'm seeing the layout onscreen, I think I'll try gamepad for a while. 6 or more buttons is too many for my stick! Also, throwing this out there, any game meant to be played on a pad should not have difficult motion input requirements (the motions are mostly fine, but the developer's implementation of how sloppy you can be with them is the most important part)
Is the Bravery Point of GBVS the same as SF6’s Drive Gauge where there’s a guard-crushing attack, a counter assault, and if you spend most of your meter, it becomes disadvantageous at your end? At least at this version/sequel, we get to see more saucy combos with all the Ultimate Skills and Raging Chains.
Are Dash Attacks a substitute to the Universal Overhead in the previous version of GBVS but with different mix-up routes and each attack can either connect to a combo or not? Since they have the same animation as the Raging Chain, I wish they could make this as a command move or perhaps add more cancelable command moves in the future.

I thought they removed all damage differences between simple and technical inputs?
They did in the beta, but now there are some (mentioned in vid) @@henryjones8636
The game not even out yet for consumers how did you get access?
Nice! Any character guide ?
The GBVS Rising content has begun
One thing I think you forgot to mention is that you can do Ultimate versions of special moves while they are on cooldown but with a 50% damage cut
I didn't even know about the 50% damage cut, thanks!
Just when my opponent thinks my DP is on cooldown and can't use it, I have my ultimate DP too >:) respect my options.
So you still have a dp even on cooldown ?
I'm jumping into Granblue for the first time with Rising, so this guide is very much appreciated. Thank you!
Great beginner's guide, especially on the Bravery Points section.
Some people forget that you can restore points via supers.

Yea, where's my loli vampire insulting me and my easy controls, Arcsys?
This makes too much sense

awesome video! can't wait to get started with uno
great video as always, excited to see how many new people try this game with it being f2p!
Thanks for the vid. I've always liked Gran blue, but always thought of it as kinda difficult. Needed this vid a ton
thanks, this is probably one of the better fg guides out there, most are just a dude thinking as he goes. Really appreciate the editing.

Thanks for the beginner guide! My brother is trying to get me into this game, and this was just the primer I needed.
Bro, I played Gran Blue back on PS4, I gotta tell ya this guide is top notch! Very well done almost professionally made! Great job!
Technically it is professionally made
Can't wait for the gran bruise tutorial next! ❤
Awesome tutorial man cheers
Really wanna get into it now
Just started granblue and i fw it thank you, hopefully it keeps going strong

Lots of new faces and returning characters to have fun with!
Amazing work. I'll support every video of GBVSR you upload, you and the game deserve it. Keep it up man!

Same thing really. You still need to input buttons trice. Whichever everyone chooses is up to their preferences
@CJ-wh7ik maybe it's because I play on stick. Using the dash button there felt weird at least for me
Amazing guide. Let the Nier grind begin
you are the GOAT for that chief, can't wait to get my hands on this game !!!

thank you for this guide i will now be gran blue free edition
You're the best Diaphone👍
Awesome video, please more! :)
I didn't expect to like this game more then sf6
commenting cause granblue is cool and i wanna see it succeed

Hello. I am a noob interested in getting into this game.
Thanks for the guide.
Diaphone: "Sweeps are cancellable but mot of them don't have the best range"
Anila:
I’m addicted to this game already 😅
Great guide! Hope you make more GB content 😁 Question though, do you take more damage when you have no Bravery Points?
This will hold me over til rollback is fully implemented in dbfz
One thing to add: there are no DP shortcuts such as 323 or 636 like in SF6. So, better get used to that skill button, or else reversals on wake ups is going to be tough.
You can also make Qcf spe button for super, that deal same dmg than regular version and is easier than double Qcf
Awesome video.
Thank you very much !
