On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I love when you do BVR so much. The merge dogfights are cool, but there is so much more going on in these kinds of engagements and no other flight sim quite encapsulates it.
I disagree, BVR is much more dependent on the equipment given to the pilot. Yeah it still takes skill, but personally i find 1v1 dogfights to be a true test of pilot skill, you could be the best pilot ever and still get smacked by something shot at you from 30 miles.
Not saying BVR isnt cool, but i do think its a much more relaxed fight with less "skill" involved.
BVR engagement is such a chess match. Dog fights are like knife fight in a phone booth.

@@Poached_Toast I 100% agree. That's why I never brought up skill in my comment. I just said that I find them far more interesting because 8/10 times it will be more akin to what real fighter pilots experience. If we're being honest, most jets (at least American jets) are designed to keep yourself out of a merge. So if you're merging you're wasting a lot of the best systems that your plane was built around.
Just to play devil's advocate for fun, since you brought up skill: I would say that if you're in an superior jet and find yourself in a 1v1 merge, you're already not the best pilot because you messed up by allowing the inferior jet to get close.
Again, I do agree that the merge fights are cool and a different skill set, just apples and oranges, like you said.

Man the JF17 has good flight characteristics and looks good but the SU30 is like a ballerina with an AK47. Most gorgeous airframe ever along with the F14.
It has that concord style airframe but the interior looks like it was built with leftovers from WWII. Viper atw!
@@Chris-ly8wt to me, the f16 looks like an archetypal fighter jet if you ignore the intake placement. I totally remember how I got a set of miniatures as a kid and there it was alongside the sr71, f14, tornado, f111 and f4. Compared to them, f16 looked so generic to me, I thought it was a made up plane :D
I guess its beauty has a bit to do with the simplicity of its shape.

@@darthvader5558 it is nothing like the EX, it’s similar to an old F-16 or an old F-15, not the F-15EX. Russia has been and for the next 30 years will always be behind the US in aircraft tech

Can't get enough of how pretty the Sukhoi 30 MKI is. I mean I've seen it multiple times flying overhead but it looks so mean and so pretty at the same time. Something about the nose and canards that makes it look so elegant

The SU-30MKI is the best looking Flanker in my opinion, and one of the best looking aircraft in service today overall.
There are two big problems with the su30mki. The first is reliability issues, Indian su30mki's have had a high failure rate for a long time, and they may not take off at all when you need them. The second problem is that the radar is lagging behind. The su30mki uses a passive phased array radar, which relies on huge volume and weight to improve its performance. Even so, the su30mki radar cannot be compared with other commonly equipped active phased array radars. Radar compared to fighter jets.

I always kinda scoffed at Russian birds when I was a kid. That changed when I saw the Flanker. Such a beautiful plane.

They indicated JF17 around 2007-09
JF17 can give the F16 a tough fight if flown correctly. I did a few 1 v 1 with a buddy of mine who is a real aerobatics pilot and it was quite even. JF17 has to trick the F16 to a slow roller fight and use it rudder authority to get nose on. At fights over 380 knots, F16 eats everything for lunch without burping

Well a lot of people are going to argue that this is India Pakistan and Is indeed politicized. The fact is that this channel is a combat aviation channel and we are going to be touching on a lot of politics I don’t want to make videos that’s Norway VS France just so I can avoid real life politics. The key here is that we as a community maintain maturity when watching these videos and exploring the capabilities of the aircraft.

Great vid... I think you killed 3 JF-17s and 3 F16s... Your wing men didn't help much. But you did well... and managed to survive...
This fight was really interesting to watch. Hoping for more fights like this in the future. I believe Su-30 MKI doesn't use the AESA radars currently, however, there is plan for Super Sukhoi upgrade by the IAF. I wonder if the AESA radar with longer range would change the battle/flight tactics.
Indian Air Force mki's equipped with PESA radar super Sukhoi upgrades are going but under made in India initiative slowly they are not going for Russian radar etc meanwhile PAF thunders equipped with AESA now I'm talking about block 3 and J-10 CP as well now we have 2 different platforms equipped with AESA radar!
@@mraza2770 Yeah, that's correct. India has 3 fighters with AESA radar currently, Rafale, Tejas and Jaguar (After Darin 3 upgrade). After Super Sukhoi upgrade Su 30 MKI will be next. Also, let's see what will India choose for its 114 aircrafts tender.

The one thing I can’t stand about these Russian jets is the constant trimming. I love to fly them, but having to trim it out regularly drives me nuts.

Hey, GS. Thanks to you, I understand what BRAA means but have a question: Does the range change from miles to km depending on the country and does the altitude do the same from feet to meters?
Correct they use the measurements that are native to them
Many countries from former eastern bloc that have later joined NATO and kept operating Soviet aircraft had to replace original instruments graded in (kilo)meters with new ones graded in knots, nautical miles and feet to conform with NATO standards.
It's kinda silly considering that the ground forces of USA have been using kilometers for distance since 1918, but aviation (including civil) and navy is stuck with this clusterfvck of knots for speed, feet for altitude and pounds for weight, however if you ever listen to airband radio, in aviation weather reports (ATIS, VOLMET), you'll get temperature and dew point in Celsius, distance visibility in kilometers or statute miles, atmospheric pressure in hectopascals, cloud cover altitude in feet, and wind speed in knots.
Fun, right?
@@marsdeimos4301 the reason knots and nautical Mile is used, is simply because a NM is equal to a Minute ( ' = 1/60 of a °) on a Meridiane. It by that is very well siuted for the use in Navigation in maps and enable you to mesure distances with relativ ease.

Also the Earth is not perfectly spherical, so when moving along the meridiane, angular velocity of 1 MoA per hour will result in speed of more than 1 knot when closer to equator, and less than 1 knot when closer to north or south pole.

Well the AWACS cost us Indians dearly in this fight. Otherwise the Flankers did their thing. I think you should also try a Balakot type mission with new Air-launched BrahMos in the Su-33 MKI if it's available in DCS.

Agree on your comment about the looks of the Su-30. Something about the tandem cockpit changes the lines and makes the nose look more graceful. But I don't think anything beats the Su-34 for world's prettiest fighter jet. Su-30 is a close second. I said what I said.
F-22 Raptor gets my vote as the prettiest. Of all time, P-51D or early Spits.

If we’re talking warbirds, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Typhoon/Tempest, and the later Spitfires. And of course the Corsair looks like nothing else.
Absolutely agree on the su 30, I think the longer cockpit makes the front of the plane taller which makes the “flanker curve” more obvious.

Devs locked the files. There used to be one, but it isnt compatible rn. Lots of mods were killed due to this (SH, Jeff Block 3)

nah in real life there are real things that are happening in terms of tactics, there is a BVR timeline/flow and a bunch of stuff thats happening but its not just everyone for themselves go figure it out lol
