my top 5 (in no particular order) Gideon the ninth - Tamsyn Muir Harrow the ninth - Tamsyn Muir This is how you lose the time war - Amal El-Mohtar Evocation - ST Gibson Can't spell treason without tea - Rebecca Thorne
My best books (all my 5 stars fiction) - Here we go again by Alison Cochrun - Most ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa - To be taught, if fortunate by Becky Chambers - Bloom by Delilah S Dawson - Silver under nightfall by Rin Chupeco - Any man by Amber Tamblyn My worst: - Deadman wonderland (manga) (2 stars) - The age of magical overthiking by Amanda Montell (2.5) - The fake mate by Lana Ferguson (2.5) - The whisper man by Alex North (2.5)
Thank you for not forgetting about the bottoms T_T ♥ I feel you about the finding your new fave in December. Mine had been picked since Feb or Apr, then I read Discovery of Witches this month and it changed the game
I purchased a copy of Late Bloomer. I ended up DNFing 28% into the book, and returned it. I was so excited to read it, but I truly hated it. They didn’t read like adults they read like high schoolers. I liked the adhd and autism representation. I also really liked the discussions around grief, but I hated everything else.
My Top 5 so far in 2024: Don't Let The Forest In - Because this is the kind of horror I love the most - Botanical, forest and monsters which consume you whole and an incredible Ace rep The Raven Cycle - I state the entire series here because this is what started my year and I have not forgotten them ever since An Enchantment of Ravens - Fae Folk presented as they should be: dark, cunning, and preferring a beautiful exterior (they glam over their ugliness, like literally). I really liked this The Underwood Tapes (it is an e-arc of a book which publishes next year but such a highlight for my reading palette) House of Frank - cosy, healing, found family and gosh, I am just in a loss of words of what this book did to me (in a good way)
Here are my Top 5 books released in 2024: The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri The Feast Makers by H.A. Clarke The Phoenix Keeper by S.A. McLean Metal From Haven by August Clarke The Stars Too Fondly by Emily Hamilton
Yeeeeeesssss!!! I loved Evocation!!!! So happy as well because I picked up a signed copy on a whim while I was visiting the UK and was really worried it wouldn't be good XD
OK, finished the video. Great rants by the way! I always love watching your reviews. My top five are: 1) Kings of the Wyld 2) 店長がバカすぎて (My Manager is a Moron) 3) Nemesis Games 4) The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi 5) Majordomo (Everyone should check out Majordomo, it's a first time novella that is not getting enough attention.)
Oh no! I was so excited to read "Sanctuary of the Shadow" (I'm definitely a sucker for a good circus-focused fantasy book), so I'm glad to know that this book did not deliver on the promise of the cover art. Saved me some time & grief with that review. Always love your videos! My top 5 from 2024 in no particular order: The Golden Enclaves (book 3 of The Scholomance trilogy) by Naomi Novik Defiant (book 4 of Cytoverse series) by Brandon Sanderson Morning Star (book 3 of Red Rising trilogy) by Pierce Brown The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (book 1 of Wayfarers) by Becky Chambers The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow Runners-up: The Women by Kristin Hannah The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore Lucy Undying by Kiersten White
My reading year was strange, a mix of childhood nostalgia and mainly authors who I'm very comfy with. So my top 5 (in no particular order) were - Welcome To Dead House by R.L Stine - Compound Fracture by Andrew Joesph White - Wind & Truth by Brandon Sanderson - Bride by Ali Hazelwood - Animorphs Book #1 by KA Applegate
You MAY be biased. BUT... you are also right. The image of Kai showing up with no floaties and diving into the deep end is now on repeat in my brain and I thank you for it. I'm also wondering when we are gonna start our "long-distance 2025 book reading buddy book club that totally reads sequels" thing. ... where did you get your mug... tell me or I will stop commenting for at least three videos.
Top 5 in no particular order: The City In Glass by Nghi Vo - I'm trash for Nghi Vo and will read anything she puts out, but this is my new favorite. (Also it is not a romance the way it's marketed.) Hi Honey, I'm Homo: Sitcoms, Specials, and the Queering of American Culture by Matt Baume - lovely look at how queer characters were added to tv and the lasting impact that had. The Imaginary Corpse by Tyler Hayes - Cozy detective noir murder mystery taking place in the underside of imagination. Our gritty detective is a yellow stuffed triceratops named Tippy. It's amazing. Time to Orbit: Unknown by Derin Edala - completed sci-fi web serial about an absolutely normal spaceship. Absolutely fascinating take on post-post-global warming collapse. Society has rebuilt itself, life is good, and no one knows why people of the past believed a computer needed to be able to run Doom in order to be considered a computer. Fifth spot is hard so I'm just going to give it to it to Hailey Piper, a newly discovered (by me) author this year. Love her very weird and engrossing queer speculative fiction.
Hey just FYI, a lot of self advocacy autistic people prefer identity first language (autistic person) instead of person first language (person with autism). Obviously not everyone feels this way and you should ask the autistic person how they feel, but i would use this as a rule of thumb. To learn more about why both sides think that way, i highly suggest reading the article "Identity-first language" by Lydia Brown on the Self Avdocacy Autism Network. * I try to comment this yesterday but I put the link to the article. I think it was removed. * Have a nice day! /gen
"So sorry bottoms, I didn't mean to forget about you!" was so funny for no reason

There is not a video, but as I write this comment there's still a few days left this year so everything could change 😂
