Us too. Although Baby Yoda is right up there. The original SW trilogy introduced Yoda in Empire Strikes back. Checkout the 3rd part of this series to see the finished Yoda’s Hut

@@SPQR-Z I watched Empire in the theatres on opening day, then we went straight to Toys-r-Us and I got Yoda. Starving college student that's all I could get. But they had people in costume, Vader and stormtroopers, they passed out a pack of collectors cards to each person who went into the store. I watched all three in this series

HI Evan!! Just thought I would tell you that I have started my Dagobah base (using a vintage base plate) and used Creative Paper Clay to fill in the spots where the tree was attached to the base plate. After 24 hours there is no shrinkage at *all* which surprised and pleased me. Now I can paint the base plate and then go on to fit the Yoda's hut over top...(keeping my fingers crossed that this will work). There is a lot of detail on the base plate that I would like to have around and under my hut when I get it done.

VintageJedi Hello VJ. Interested to see how it turns out. Should get you a head start on the build vs doing it from scratch. I spent allot of time not to mention modeling putty on the base. Have you checked out the Rebel Scum website? They have a “custom diorama” forum with a ton of SW dio builds. Some utter fantastic builds and talent hangs out there. Post your build on the Tube and be sure and check out the custom diorama forum on RebelScum

KYLE: Wow! this is so cool...
DAD: Hey there, Evan h...I am doing a scratch build of Yoda's Hut for my son Kyle. Getting a lot of inspiration from your work. Great job!
KYLE: Hope the one you build is THIS good, Dad.
    DAD: GULP! Uh-oh!

Build&Play Well with your critic it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Kids can really know what to look for lol. I only have to satisfy myself. Checkout website Rebel Scum the diorama forum. Some truly amazing builds from people all over the world. It’s always interesting how different people approach these projects. Very inventive and clever solutions. Check back in 3 weeks for part 3 which should show all the modeling completed. And Good luck with your Yoda Hut dio.

AWESOME work Evan! I am just starting the same model (and will be customizing it as well). Can you tell me what you used on the exterior for the "rock-look" of the whole hut? Also where can I get the same lights that you have on the back wall? They are not wired (I am NO good at wiring) so hope they are some type of teeny battery-driven LEDs. Did you use some type of chipboard or cardboard for the base before covering it with the Apozie Sculpt?
    Thanks in advance :-)

VintageJedi Hello VJ. No did not use a base under the model just Apoxie Sculpt. In retrospect that would have been a good idea and saved allot of Apoxie modeling clay material. For the textured rock effect I just used Apoxie Sculpt and hand textured the finish. You can use any object really. For instance I used a Walnut rolled over the surface to get a pebble finish. Other areas I used a small piece of lava rock that gave a nice negative finish from the rough surface of the lava rock. Used a sponge I had to make some texture. I also used various pointed objects like the end of a small hobby paintbrush to make holes and depressions which I could then roll the walnut or sponge over to get a very organic natural looking surface. You’ll just have to play around and experiment to achieve the look you want.
I purchased all my led lighting from Evandesigns.com. They have everything you need to build this in one online store. Most are prewired so minimal customization. They offer several battery and led voltage options. I used the 3mm leds for the wall lights. It’s hard to see in the video but I have chips of glass that I bought from the hobby store. I painted the clear glass yellow with Tamiya clear lens paint to get that yellowish light effect. I also used the chips of glass as a defuser over the orange and red flickering leds in the fire place. This is a fun build. Really think through the sequence of your build. I found accessibility to be limited for painting and accessory placement afterwards. Post up your Yoda Hut build on the tube.

Oh I forgot to mention concerning the textured finishing. I also used some Tamiya dirt textured paint. They have a series of textured surface paint like turf, mud, pebble etc. I couldn’t find it at my local hobby shop so I ordered it from a Japanese seller on ebay

@@SPQR-Z Hi Evan...Thanks so much for the info on your texturing and painting. Yes, I can imagine that it must have taken you quite a bit of Apoxie Sculpt just to create the base.
I have been thinking of possibly using a vintage Dagobah base plate without the tree (could add the tree and sculpt later).
Toy Smuggler ua-cam.com/video/rd_c6ZD5pUo/v-deo.html has a good You Tube on painting a vintage Dagobah base plate (he uses oils) and I think the Yoda Hut would look good on a base like that too! The Tamiya paints with texture sound amazing! I will have to look into them, for sure.
      Thanks again!
