- This is my reaction to the BRAND NEW My Chemical Romance song.. yes really! The new MCR song "The Foundations of Decay"!! This is the bands first song in 8 years. So many people thought we'd never hear another song my the legendary band again, but here we are! Come join me in mcr's new dark, disturbing, noisy at times comeback track!

I’m 31 years old, been plagued by depression (on going) and addiction (done with) for most of my life.. My Chemical Romance had been my escape for most of my adult life. When they went away it felt like an important part of my life had died. I was telling my wife, never in my wildest dreams did I think they’d make music and tour again. Yet here we are 2022 and Foundation’s of Decay is my most listened to song ever and September 1st I’ll be seeing them live. Life is good!

You hit the nail on the head, the song has to be about accepting your darknesses and canonizing them to fight on as the worshipper of your own canon. That's what I get from it.
I want to point out that at the start the song with all the 'space' sounds that slowly fades out is literally them leaving the Danger Days era and moving more to the sounds of their first album because the reverb at the end is very much something that sounds straight from their first album. I think they are going back to that sound but like darker.

Check out Ronin by Ibaraki. He does some insane heavy metal screaming in that track and it's beautiful.
They have been favorite band for soooo long and this song really reminded me of why I love them so much. Absolutely brilliant return

It blows my mind that the song does not feel 6 min long no matter how many times I listen to it.
Your take on this is totally right. I’m glad they released this and not a ‘typical single’. I’m so unbelievable amped to see them live. Can’t remember the last time I was excited to see a bands new material live lol you usually want the old stuff. I’m so excited for this
The feeling you get from the music is almost exactly what the song is about.
The release of this song made me immediately buy tickets to their tour. Before I was thinking the tour would just be a classic reunion tour, nothing new. But THIS. This song changed everything. There has to be more. There has to be an album. This song literally made me feel reborn and completely obliterated any expectations. It's so gritty, it's so raw, it's so emotional. It makes my brain follicles melt all over the floor.
I think the song is about their journey as a band, how they formed all the ups and downs and how they parted ways. I feel like the ending was them coming out of hiatus, since it would be easier to just keep doing their own projects and not come back together. I think the ending lyrics of get up coward really is them saying to themselves it's time to come back and let your stories be heard once again. I don't know if I'm explaining this clearly, but what it boils down to is the process of aging and coming to terms of where your life has been and where it will go next, as well as how even though your older and its harder you can still get back up and keep going even with the world crumbling around you. Anyway, that's my take
Amazed that they released a song that sounds more like their early work than their early work. This is my new favourite MCR song

Spot on man! Watched alot of these reactions videos and you are the only one who has summed it up the way I am thinking. Imagine if they had realeased another teenagers type song which by the way is one of their worst songs in my opinion.. It just isn't them.
This is exactly what I wanted. I feel as tho it was made for the my chem fans.. They wernt bothered about gaining new fans by releasing some radio friendly garbage.
I feel its an amazing bit of story telling. Maybe the voice is muffled cos its supposed to be a message from the black parade being dead.. Or a dream? Food for thought.
But it opens up so much for discussion again and I'm so happy they have released something so dark and haunting! Yep.. Already read alot of comments from people dissing it.. But they probably wernt fans in the first place. Perfect perfect comeback song for me. Roll on Thursday when I'm seeing them here in the uk! Wonder if they will play this song!?
