Whenever I hear Chris Cheney, I see the influence of Chet Atkins, Carl Perkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Brian Setzer, with some punk attitude. This is what makes Chris Cheney a unique and highly talented guitarist! 😎 His technique is off the charts. I wouldn't be shocked if he drops the punk in his 50-60s and play jazz/country based tunes more.
"....to do the intro to Carry Me Home is really easy. All you have to do is remove two of your ribs, sacrifice a virgin to the guitar gods, obtain the pick of destiny and beat Chuck Norris in an arm wrestle..."
chris cheney is my father, he left my mum struggling in a caravan park in melbourne, and i grew up on basically eating magi noodles, we always try'd to contact him but he wnt answer our callss.....i want my dad back
can anybody tell what pedals Chris is using, I can see a ibanez tube screamer, boss digital delay (looks like 3) maybe a flanger. What are the pedals on the left? channels selectors?
you can tell by his music that he was heavily influenced by ac/dc....Their debut album "all torn down" was awsome. I played the shit outta the record back in the day.
of course they skip over the hardest part of the prisoner of society solo. i was really excited to see how exactly he plays that ridiculous ending of the solo.
Found it on eBay, and knowing how rare it is I thought I would share it so everyone can have a chance to see it.
Thanks, that's quite considerate of you!
you are a good man thank you
Dude thanks so much, I'm trying to learn this now and having the man himself explain it is as good as it gets. Definitely in my top 10 guitarists.
Awfully decent of you! Thank you!
Absolute Legend
Fantastic guitar player, this guy.
Amazes me that he is not better known worldwide.

Chris Cheney AKA Chandler from Friends.
Cool tutorial video
Damn, wish I'd seen this years ago! No wonder that part at 11:28 is so difficult with conventional picking methods - Cheney is hybrid picking!
im seeing the living end next week, and the best thing is i live in their home town
Where did you find this! You have made my day!
awesome upload. thanks so much dude!
I wish there were more rock guitarists playing Gretsch on youtube :(
can anybody tell what pedals Chris is using, I can see a ibanez tube screamer, boss digital delay (looks like 3) maybe a flanger. What are the pedals on the left? channels selectors?

chris cheney in all gretsch guitars do not use 11-52 strings?.
Blimey!

Great insight but interestingly he forgot the hardest part of the solo 😆
Maybe on purpose for us mortals to figure out ourselves
Great player. Terrible teacher.
Mmmm I tend to agree.
One of the worst lessons I’ve ever scene.
