  • A calming pottery studio vlog for if you're feeling overwhelmed 🫶🏼
Around the holidays and new year I often feel this sense of urgency to speed up and check off as many items off a to do list as possible (anyone else?)
I've learned that, that feeling of urgency, is actually a lack mindset, because there's no need to rush towards something that's aligned and meant for you. You won't miss out on the opportunities and you most definitely won't fall behind. Having slow days like this where you can take care of yourself or do something for your pure enjoyment is never wasted time. In fact, it's probably the exact thing you need to help elicit self-discipline and consistency with your work and your habits.
Calming and slow days at the pottery studio are the time that I practice this exact mindset shift - from lack to abundance and from urgency to flow.

You’ll get there! I’ve made these mistakes to. About the needle; don’t put it in straight bud with an angle and using a potter knife has also been a game changer for me. I also so you bring your walls beyond the base of the pot. Then it isn’t able to carry the weight anymore and will collapse…solve this by practicing pulling upwards and let your outside hand be dominant over your inside hand so you will make a cilinder and not a bowl while pulling. Good luck!!! 😊

This was so much fun to watch! Perhaps trying different pulling methods? I originally loved using a sponge but I was breaking my forms more often than I would have liked. I think it’s because the texture of the sponge tugs on the clay too much. I’ve tried using the knuckle method and have found lots of success with it!
Anyways, have so much fun with pottery! It’s one of the best forms of art I’m 😉

Your pieces are getting better & better. It’s so fun to watch you grow especially in new things🫶 i too have perfectionism tendencies & it’s difficult to stray away from them sometimes, but this year i’m trying to embrace imperfection. I love that i have someone to relate to❤

You're so stinking sweet!! Pottery has been AMAZING for reinforcing a healthier/more relaxed mindset. I LOVE THAT intention for 2023! You've got this! Let the Wabi-Sabi philosophy be the theme for this new year 🥰🤍

love this so much🫶 as far as the needle tool usage, i'd recommend trying going at it from the inside? that helps me when i have to trip the tops of my pieces:)
