David Harbour has said he wants to do a sequel with Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal as the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. I know he was probably kidding, but I would watch the hell out of that.
Indeed plus I'm sure it helps that he used to be a Viking of all the old warrior cultures a Viking which visited North America before Christopher Columbus yeah at first, he's rusty but he's 1100 years old I mean come on bad guys Cut him some slack
As far as the Die Hard references, this movie was MADE because of the long standing debate of whether or not Die Hard counted as a Christmas movie and was actually pitched as 'Die Hard with Santa Claus'.
Die Hard IS a Christmas Movie... The plot is driven by it being Christmas. It's the only time events line up allowing Hanz's plan to work. Unlike Lethal Weapon which only takes place at Christmas.
@@backtoearth1983 I just don't get Christmas vibes from DIe Hard. If other people like to watch it as a Christmas movie, that's fine. But when I watch it, I don't FEEL like I'm watching a Christmas movie, I feel like I'm watching a good action movie that takes place during Christmas. But hey, to each their own. In the end, it's still a good movie.
The reason for the tattooed and combative Santa is it references the original Germanic/Nordic origins of the Santa legend that thread of the Santa legend (there are multiple) has Santa as a literal aspect of the god Wodan/Odin - he leads the Wild Hunt, can and does bring gifts but also has a warrior aspect.
A sequel got green lit this past January. Supposedly, a Mrs. C. Involvement will be incorporated. Harbour has apparently been pulling for Charlize Theron to 0lay her.
Tommy Wirkola. Wow. He is Sami from Norway. Sami is native people in Norway. Look it up. Also, he has made "dead snow". Super cool that he made this high production. I am Norwegian. Wow. He really has developed. He should do something with Peter Jackson
Love this movie. The cheesy lines are totally intentional. They took "Christmas Dies Tonight" straight out of Halloween Kills where they kept saying "Evil Dies Tonight". This is the Christmas Die Hard for those who believe Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie (it definitely is)
12:00 John Leguizamo (Mr. Scrooge) is taking a page out of John McClane's book with his comment here, quoting a famous character that he's using as an alias, ending with a personal addition never said on the silver screen by that quoted character. Yeah, this movie is the modern Die Hard. It has so many, many references to the first 4Die Hard movies ,it's almost like watching that franchise all over again.
Who would play Mrs Clause to this Santa? ... How about Alyssa Sutherland? Between "Vikings" and "Evil Dead Rise", I think she has everything we'd want.
I love this movie so much, like they know its a silly concept so they don't really take it too seriously, but at the same time they take it just seriously enough to give awesome fight scenes and actual stakes to the movie.
Oh my goodness. One of my favourite reactors reacting to one of my favourite "new" Christmas movies. It exceeded my expectations so glad to see how thoroughly you enjoyed it. Just out of curiosity have you ever watched The Long Kiss Goodnight? Similar to Die Hard it's an action movie set during the holidays.
39:06 My favorite Die Hard reference: That blue lens flare at that exact second (you edited out almost all of it) is completely out of nowhere and unnecessary - it was added by the director for only one reason. It's the exact same lens flare you see in Die Hard when Hans is watching the vault open.

My favorite bit of characterization was just Gertrude not being angry that he son stole a ton of money from her but was instead very proud of him for being as awful as she is.
It is a crime that Santa’s best one-liner from the trailers didn’t make into the movie: “Time for some season’s beatings.” And you just know that this movie evolved from someone’s argument about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie. “OK, maybe it’s not. But what if it was?”
Last year I took my (then) 15 and 10 year old to see this. My eldest and I were geeking out about how they were incorporating and hinting at the Norse lore with regards to Santa Claus, my 10 year old and I were geeking out about the takedowns. There were only a couple of moments that I wish I'd thought of as possibilities and not taken the younger of the 2, but thankfully my kids are tough. This quickly became a holiday favorite. OH. So. Santa Claus is based on Odin. Odin would ride his 8 legged horse, Sleipnir, across the sky during Yule, and lead the great hunt where he'd abduct and kill those who had been bad.
Oh for sure. Same. Honestly, the blood didn't phase my kids at all, they play games more violent than this movie, the worst part for my kids, they ate that up! The "kiss me in front of my son" and the "santa isn't real" (for the 10 year old) wasn't AWESOME.. but I was able to smooth that over.@@funnylilgalreacts

There's a handful that did this movie this year but most of them did one within a week of release. I can think of ten reaction channels that have done this one off of the top of my head.
The Viking Santa sparked a recommendation idea, anyone tell you to watch Norsemen yet? It’s a sleeper comedy that doesn’t get as much love as it should
This has taken a top spot amongst my favorite holiday films, taking a place amongst such holiday classics as Albert Finney's musical "Scrooge", Billy Murray's "Scrooged" and "White Christmas". My favorite part of the movie is actually the premise that Santa has his origins as a Norse viking and that we never actually get an explanation of exactly how he became the magical embodiment of the holiday season. Ultimately, we just have "Norse raider with mysterious mystical powers" and...honestly, that's all I needed. For my money, the best way to make a sequel of this movie would be to have the story cross over with Patton Oswald and Christopher Meloni's "Happy!". Make of that what you will.

For Home Alone, it's obvious, which scene I'm referring to in Violent Night

-When I saw the trailer for this, I put it in my “hone release” category in terms of when I’d catch it. After attending my 1st concert in “Fuck, I’m old” years which led to the happiest I had felt in a long time, I decided to check it out just because I found a copy at Redbox. When that opening animation before it started played, I realized it was from the same company behind the “John Wick” franchise, “Nobody”, and “Bullet Train.” My interest grew exponentially and regretted not seeing it in the theater before the first few seconds of it. That led to high expectations. Surprisingly(or maybe not), it exceeded them. -It managed to be funny, heartwarming, and action packed in a great combination, which can be hard to do. The cheesy lines were done perfectly. It could be guilty of using Christmas movie tropes with “Home Alone”, “Die Hard”, and somewhat “Miracle on 34th Street” with Santa playing a role. (I’d add in the movie from “Scrooged” with Lee Majors.) However, it creates a great homage while, as you kinda eluded to, also poking fun at them. -If I had to pick my favorite moment, it would be the hand grenade scene. Santa running away and then stopping to watch is something that, if I was in that moment, I’d probably do also. Trudy’s “Home Alone” scene would be close.
I think my favorite thing is the fact that they wove together two different Santa origins - the one about Wotan that's been mentioned repeatedly, but also the fact that Nicomund had his change of heart down in Constantinople. See, St. Nicholas was a Cappadocian saint, and Cappadocia was right next door to Constantinople. So basically implying that a Christian Saint was secretly a Norse demi-god, which is the reverse of what the Christians did... :-D
The dad in this movie is such a goofy actor lol. I saw this in theaters and definitely enjoyed it. Basically it's Die Hard if it was even more of a Christmas movie with a little Home Alone thrown in.
Great reaction. I had meant to watch this last year, but it got lost in the shuffle and I ended up forgetting all about it. Then your reaction came out and reminded me, so I waited until last night (Christmas Eve) to watch and then watched your reaction this morning. Merry Christmas!
26:00 "How did the chimney magic work then?" It's Christmas magic. I've never really figured out how it works. If I had to guess, Santa might have been just a bit too drunk when he was trying it last time, right before he had to fight Starface (a lesser-known Al Pacino role).
Winona Ryder as Misses Claus in the sequel? Great reaction, was worried the violence might be too much for you but the tone of the movie makes it more bearable I think.
Didn't know anything about this movie before watching it. What a great surprise. A new Christmas movie to add to my list of favourites. The nods to Die Hard and Home Alone were great.
Okay Angela, if you want another Christmas staple, it's "The night before Critmas" from critical role. Granted it's four hours long, but it's going to be a tradition in my house now every year.
Yessss. I waited to watch this reaction until my husband and I saw it so I apologize for the late comment. We agree with you on Die Hard being a Christmas movie. It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza.

You had me at "I've seen Bad Santa, and I didn't like it."
I love this movie so much! This was a great reaction, so glad you enjoyed it.
This movie is now a Christmas Eve tradition we added to our Christmas eve watch list.
David Harbour played a great Santa in this movie, he was like John Wick but he only used a Mallad and fought bad guys with it.
@24:00 Don’t forget that John Leguizamo was in Die Hard 2 as well.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it but the Dad in the film also plays Translucent in the Boys.
OMG i love this movie so much. And Angela, your reactions to the kills... *chef kiss* 🤌🤌🤌
The dad in this movie is such a goofy actor lol. I saw this in theaters and definitely enjoyed it. Basically it's Die Hard if it was even more of a Christmas movie with a little Home Alone thrown in.
I kept hoping they would do a prequel showing us how Nick the Red became Santa Claus.
16:25 Brings new meaning to the phrase, "seeing stars."
Great reaction. I had meant to watch this last year, but it got lost in the shuffle and I ended up forgetting all about it. Then your reaction came out and reminded me, so I waited until last night (Christmas Eve) to watch and then watched your reaction this morning. Merry Christmas!
26:00 "How did the chimney magic work then?"
It's Christmas magic. I've never really figured out how it works.
If I had to guess, Santa might have been just a bit too drunk when he was trying it last time, right before he had to fight Starface (a lesser-known Al Pacino role).
"it seems christmasy" hahahah famous last words
Winona Ryder as Misses Claus in the sequel? Great reaction, was worried the violence might be too much for you but the tone of the movie makes it more bearable I think.
Didn't know anything about this movie before watching it. What a great surprise. A new Christmas movie to add to my list of favourites. The nods to Die Hard and Home Alone were great.
Glad you Enjoyed it !
(This Became my Favorite Christmas movie the First Time I saw It)
The Hime alone Music Kept me laughing 😂
Best "New" Christmas Movie EVER !!!!!
Okay Angela, if you want another Christmas staple, it's "The night before Critmas" from critical role. Granted it's four hours long, but it's going to be a tradition in my house now every year.
I realize this is a week late, but my wife and I have had a very long week. This reaction was just what we needed to relax and laugh.
yeah. i was expecting another "Santa as a slasher" flick, and was pleasantly surprised.
John Wick of Christmas!
Hitman-verse!
Equalizer
Nobody
Atomic Blonde
Hard Henry
& more!
Yeah, I didn’t know I had a Santa thing until this movie! 🤣
Yessss. I waited to watch this reaction until my husband and I saw it so I apologize for the late comment. We agree with you on Die Hard being a Christmas movie. It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza.
