Amazing homily! Very important point made starting @3:42…it left me with a lot to reflect on! As Father stated, the importance of not losing our perspective about what really matters in the long run:
“Butler mentions in his ‘Lives of the Saints’ that when parents educate their children in the most important education, which is that of their soul and virtue, they glorify God and perpetuate his honor on Earth to Future generations, and they sanctify their own Souls.
Saint Paul in his epistle to Timothy insists that the education of the youth is a grave duty of parents. Nevertheless, Butler says we see parents more solicitous about the Earthly education of their children and zealous in providing for their worldly affairs. And, yet, very careless about teaching them virtue in which there alone their true happiness consists.
Even the pagans understood that virtue was superior to any other earthly possession. And this reflection drew tears from a heathen philosopher who cried out to his fellow citizens, ‘What is it you think of? You employ all your time in keeping up riches to leave to your children, yet you take no care to cultivate their souls with virtue, as if an estate were more precious than themselves’ and that’s a pagan who mentioned that.”

Thank you for speaking on women who can’t have children, Father. It’s not often that we get mentioned in sermons other than a brief throwaway comment after focusing on mothers. It means a lot to me. St. Anne, ora pro nobis!
