As I read the story, I could not avoid seeing parallels with the tension between today’s ‘elites’ and the ‘working class’ -exacerbated by our public policies in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is obvious with so many social policies, once you realize the "contraindications" that all social policies have. Economists call them "Unintended Consequences", the negative side effects like synthetic drugs have, that the rattle off a the very end of the commercial. Once you realize that many of the consequences were knowing and thus intentional, that really opens your eyes.
