#MelvinAnthony
GREATEST bodybuilding poser of all time?
Of his time, yes! Ed Corney of all time.
Agreed. Melvin Anthony was a phenomenal bodybuilder and a awesome poser
Dave deceived by the exterior not by his actions
Dave this thing is you, totally you, you conduct interviews as you are getting to know someone at the stairs outside his house, you'd probably be in a better spot, if you approached the interview professionally... you take too much time on things that end up making the video too long man... focus please, you represent my era of bodybuilding fans..
melvin had some great posing routines and many times won best posing award. mind you i bet king kamali would have his say on this one.
Great to Melvin here. Horrible to know the betrayal of his friends. Life experiences show what a real friend is. Wishing you the best Melvin.
Thank you bro. I’m back on track
Leo my favorite UA-camr.
@@marvelousmelvinanthony3813 Strive and prosper bro!
Melvin Anthony you hang in there big brother this will pass and you were born for greatness. Thank you for everything you have done for us.🙏
@@marvelousmelvinanthony3813 waddup Brother!!!!! hope all is well!!!!! your boy Max Muscle "P-Dog"!!!
Thank you for your time and story Melvin. Bad ass poser and a good hearted man.
This is just one of the reasons Dave is great for the sport, he gives a voice where it's needed. Welcome home Melvin, one of the greats!
He was amazing. i wish him good luck in his future
Love this interview! Met Melvin multiple time night of champions at the olympias the guy is just chill and one of the nicest pros of the 90s era. I'm glad hes doing well and Melvin hope you got your night of champions ring back.
Nope need to have another one made
Right when I thought Dave has not done a good interview in a while. Boom! Nice!
Just started this and I am so excited to watch this interview. This brother was beast. Amazing poser. And always come in shape. Welcome back brother!!
This was a great interview!!
I look forward to part 2.
Dave, you need to bring on John Brown.
Great to see Melvin back! I'll never forget that 98 USA win what a battle that was! I wish Melvin had a few more years in his heyday to polish that physique. He would have been a top three Contender for sure. He tells some great stories. I hope there's a part 2 to this interview?
Wow, I was just thinking 🤔, where is Melvin Anthony?..then I saw this interview, good to see him back
Man Melvin is such a cool guy, really funny too
Melvin tells that story like a comedian
This the most funniest interview I’ve watch had me in tears
Melvin it is what it is Anthony
Damn I miss Melvin on Stage, 2nd best Poser on Stage behind Genova.
I just fell off my chair listening to Melvin recount posing in front of John Brown!
100% real ass interview God bless Melvin. Its hard to find good friends you gotta stay in touch with the real ones
Yessir
If anyone does not know who Brian Buchanan, google him. He had a tiny waste and great arms. He competed in 1990 a few times. I think he placed 2nd to Robby Robinson.
I think Brian still has the smallest waist I’ve seen on the stage. I don’t think Melvin’s waste was smaller than Buchanan.
The wasp
Jason Conner if you are referring to Brian Buchanan, I agree. Maybe Tony Pearson may have had the most waspist waste. But didn’t have the muscularity or density as Brian Buchanan.
Brian was awesome.
I agreed with you. Brian Buchanan most definitely had the tiniest waist to shoulder width ratio. It was ridiculous.
i dont even know this could ever be a thing lool but i thought buchanan's waist was tooo small it looked a bit weird imo, melvin's physique was amazing but by then the mass monsters had come into effect
Shawn ray was great when I met him in the fibo Germany last year he gave me his dvd for free and a bag and lots of information.
One of the Greatest Poser in the History of Bodybuilding.
No doubt!
He is top 5 GOAT!
This is a very insightful interview, when you think you know your “friends” unbelievable
Now that was a good interview.
first time ive ever rewatched an interview
Sensational interview Dave. And yo you Melvin, you are a bloody Champion and one of greatest physiques of all time. Thanks for entertaining us.
Such great interviews. I’m glad that he got to clear the air. I hope that a lot of SERIOUS athletes avail himself to his incredible talent and gifts.
My favourite bodybuilding and The greatest Poser of all time the one & only marvellous
Melvin Anthony 🙌🏾🙏😊
Great interview. Good job Dave.
that John brown story lmao
THIS WAS A GOOD INTERVIEW...
The 1 dislike is Shawn ray 😂
Lmaooo!!
Somehow I knew Shawn would be part of this conversation. He can’t keep his mouth shut.
Steve Wise it’s a matter of time until we hear about someone beating his ass. I’m a fan of his physique when he competed. I like his raw honesty. However, you can do it without insulting people. You cannot keep talking shit about people and thinking everyone will worry about being sued for beating you up.
Yves Patrick Mardice He’s got his butt whopped more than once trust me lol
Melvin Anthony I watched the interview and know John, Donny Wiggins, and Victor, Shawn and likely others within that circle.
I grew up in Fullerton and known John since I was a teen. The stories about John put a smile on my face. He did that whole “show me this” etc with young guys and wouldn’t b.s. you. Your stories made me laugh.
As for Shawn, there was another bodybuilder who brought Shawn into meet me at Needham’s gym in Anaheim where all of us, including John trained at the time. Both Shawn and I were teens and he was cocky, though he was genetically gifted. He would first come to show me his progress while training with John and on his first cycle. After he started winning...well, things changed and that would take an email to explain his attitude and my reaction.
John and I always got along well and we’d joke around in the gym and when we’d see each other at shows or around town. We had the same friends.
The most weight I’d ever deadlifted was off John’s chest...three times! He would always ask me to spot him and it was scary as hell. He had 600 lbs on the bar and said he wanted to do three reps and didn’t want me to touch the bar. Well, on rep number one the weight wasn’t moving (he barked “I got it”...he didn’t. Then there were reps two and three. Now, I was really lifting and was scared to death I couldn’t get that weight up and I was going to be responsible for his death.:) Seriously, it’s been longer than I want to admit and will never forget that...and I had pro training partners while training for the Nationals.
My first completion was the Orange County and I competed against Vic. In any case, the stories made me laugh and glad to hear you’re doing well and stayed centered. When I quit bodybuilding I found out who my friends were and weren’t. It was a good cleansing. It wasn’t a healthy environment for me and took a little while to find my identity after bodybuilding.
One of the most incredible poser... 🤜🤛
nice beginning of this video when you see melvin and hear the cops behind in the background hahahaha
damn , I’m totally shocked ( and happy ) that melvin finally left jail , glad to see u again
What a terrific interview. Melvin do not be surprised about friends that you thought were your friends. I have done way more time than you. It ruined my career to become a pro. All my friends abandoned me and my charges were non violent. When I got out and turned my life around they wanted back in. No fuc@@@g way. It's good your getting your story out. Bodybuilding has some great points and some negative. The guys you named are all doing felonies and judging you. How hilarious is that? Can't wait to hear their rebuttal. Stay strong 💪
Maritime Tees Nothing you can’t do bro. Keep moving forward in a positive manner
@@marvelousmelvinanthony3813 I did move on, still train, could never give it up. Still have lots of size at 55. Nice to see you looking good and fit. My wife laughed that you actually got time for that bull@@@t. If in Cali it would have been a slap on the hand. I lost to Shawn Ray at the Teenage Nationals so when you were talking about him nothing surprised me.
I agree with Melvin about people not knowing the history growing up in the 90s we knew everything we breathe those magazines
2005 Ironman routine... can’t beat that.. look it up.
Dave you did great in this interview, calm and smart
Love you Melvin!👍💪💪
Guns7469 Love ya too. Thanks for the support
Cool interview
So far a great interview can't wait for part two awesome video Dave 💪👌❤️
I looked you up today because somebody randomly just sent me a video of you posing. Sorry to hear you had a rough time but happy your doing well now.
Melvin 47 ages like wine...
Dave 52 ages like milk...
Great interview btw...
Melvin looks good
Dave finally got that legendary foods sponsorship lmao
Melvin is a truly good hearted man...I was blessed to become friends with Melvin through Kim and Chad ( I take care of Chad’s Athletics and Guest Posers)...Melvin and I hit off right from our first meeting when I picked him up at the Airport, by the time we got to restaurant to eat we were friends. Melvin come from the streets, from a Gang to a Man that loves life and knows he was blessed to have what he has, he is a great Bodybuilder, the Best poser ever to grace a stage, a man of Christ....Me being a White Bodybuilder Police Officer didn’t faze Melvin, Melvin judged me from the person I am not the color of skin or the uniform I wore, that is Melvin. ..Melvin called me “His Brother from Another Mother”.... And your right, we all have made mistakes, we have all broken the law, some get caught while others do not, but I also know some Officers give break while others do not and some should not be a Police Officer unless you treat everyone equally and we are there to Help Citizens not Hurt or punish. ...Melvin has been down ( most of us have) but he is on his way back up because Melvin has Pride, and he loves and listens to his biggest influence in his life, His Mother and God.
Ken McCroskey wassup Ken. We got to catch up. Dm me on instagram
Ken McCroskey Def brother from another mother
Melvin Anthony very cool person
Melvin 2001 could be Mr.Olympia today. One of my favorite BB
I agree it’s all in the character... everyone is different .. good interview spot on
Who needs enemies to screw you, friends will be the first in line. That's why I stay to myself
Funny guy melvin
Good luck Mel make a comeback
Glad he's out. I have always admired his posing routines many years ago. Anyway, is there anyone that has anything good to say about Shawn?
Best poser ever
That was funny as hell.😂😂😂
This should be good.
Imagine being 230 with a 27 inch waist, that’s Melvin Anthony
I wish I knew the complete truth. Hard to trust anything folks say online now a days.. great poser, amazing physique. Glad he’s out though 💪🏽
Melvin is a class act guy. What i thought when people were mouthing off, like Shawn Ray was typcial trash talk, but that;s his character. Shawn ray failed drug test, shawn ray has been bashed by Dexter Jackson. If I was Shawn Ray - I'd keep my trash mouth shut.
Get John Brown on!
A lot of people think you're have friends button really their acquaintance. Not too many people you can trust out there😳
There is rumour he is in jail. True or not?
You know your white teeth game is on point when they are whiter than Dave pulumbos.
Seems like anyone in the limelight in the bodybuilding community nowadays are willing to shit on people for their five minutes of fame, the old time guys seemed to have more of a comradery, bob chicherillo, Shawn ray and Dennis James all come across very similar
Dave, No one facing 5 months rats people out. I wouldn't put any money on you keeping quiet, if you were facing 50 years.
A total career wasted! Mel isn’t telling half the truth. He’s not getting the reality of what he did.
It could just be me but body language wise, i wouldn't trust him as far as i could throw him. Great physique though, even if he always looked like a pencil neck with his shirt on.
Melvin Anthony is a legend , the Olympia hasn't been the same since he's not participating
I'm so glad Melvein is not in prison. I always liked Melvin and was upset when he went to prison. Melvin stay out of trouble and be good.
Thank you
@@marvelousmelvinanthony3813 your welcome.
Met melvin at 2009 expo here at my home vegas, real person and great guy , happy is out and goe on with his life and forget the morons he trusted .
My favorite bodybuilder, I watch his 2001 Ironman Pro posing routine almost every day. Just insane posing, literally no mistakes or trembling between transitions, near perfection.
One of my favorite routine of his!!
Every day? 🤔 That's strange.
@@Kikwatz don't know man, I find it simply amazing.
Haha he looks like the preacher Creftlo dollar
Lol your Right 🤣👀
I get that alot
Praise God...blessed be He His name. I pray that Creftlo would repent of that prosperity gospel false doctrine
I know of a Creflo, but not Creftlo.
I heard John tell a similar story about Shawn Ray running away from the gym.
That tree analogy is gold! I’m gona use that
What Time is he sayin that?
1 2 He says it at 6.53 and credits Tyler Perry for the quote
chris g thanks bro, i Kiss your eyes.
@@user-ff3ke4sq6m 6:53
brilliant interview dave it,s so good to see melvin out and being so honest. his stories are so funny cant wait for part 2.
I first met Melvin back in 90's when I was the manager at Gold's Corona CA. The owner Denny Kakos owned and ran the ABA/PNBA/PBA bodybuilding contests. I met Melvin at a show in Ontario CA. He was with Big John Brown (another incredible man). Melvin and I hit it off and we ended hanging out the entire day. This is when Melvin was at the top getting ready to get his pro card, I was just bumping up to the light hvys. We ended up staying friends seeing each other at the gym, at shows. If you don't know Melvin you have no idea what an incredible humble person he is.
💪Train hard win easy!
Michael "Haus" Fitzgerald
John Brown is a legend! Melvin is the man. Great interview.
This guy is just underrated, his posing routine is a class of its own
Remeber the jenny jones episode. Lol.
And he was on blind date too lol.
Yo melvin met u at anaheim high school in 03 i believe, the fukn homie! One ofbtje best ever! Much love from yorba linda!
Happy to see Melvin out and doing his thang.💯
No one has ever stepped on a bodybuilding stage and posed better than the great Melvin Anthony.
John Brown taught 2 greats! Shawn Ray and Melvin Anthony. Both are great posers too especially Melvin
I forgot about Vince Taylor. Although, Vince was popular for his posing, Shawn and Melvin were better posers. Vince just started that robot style posing.
Good to see you again Melvin! You inspired the hell out of me growing. Beautiful physique!
Met Melvin years back at the Olympia expo. Of all the pros I've met, he was by far the most friendly. Took pictures, exchanged some nice words and was super chill about me taking a picture with his then lady who I unwittingly asked to take a pic with (she was dime piece). Good guy, way underrated pro. Wish him well.
Dave, get Lee Priest on with Melvin that has the makings of a great iron rage debate, this interview was gold in comedy value
Never knew that about Dennis James. Lol damn.
Dennis can never again go back to Thailand! I have friends here in Sweden who used to workout with Dennis in Pattaya back in early 2000's
I think it was a generation iron interview or Fazi Fitness.
@@Joni_Papillon Damn I'm learning more about it. Its crazy how hypocritical he was.
I’m glad he’s out. But damn he got himself in some serious trouble down in Mississippi.
Sounds like it wasn’t as bad as we were told. All over weed ? Lol
Yep
@@willcongdon114 Some pills too if I'm not wrong. Anyway, Melvin is one of my all time favourite bbs.
Melvin is one of the best of all time and easily the best and most entertaining poser of all time. So good to see him back on the scene. Melvin is old school and his personality is way better than this boring ass dudes that are pros today that talk about macros and cardio the whole interview. Melvin told hilarious stories and was honest as hell about his life. Get Melvin on as a regular and it will definitely improve the channel.
I remember hearing about Melvin Anthony on heavy muscle radio when i first subscribed years ago. The man himself. One of best posers in the game
Great interview. Melvin’s awesome. When can we expect part 2?
I heard Malvin was a nice guy but he's not only nice he's funny as F....
I have always been a huge fan of Melvin...Shame never reached the heights he was destined too 👍🏾💪🏾
Kid: Hey Shawn, what do you eat to build muscle?
Shawn: buy my DVD
Kid: I'm 15, couldn't you give me a few quick tips?
Shawn: I said buy my DVD
Melvin Anthony is totally telling the truth Dennis James has gone down in my estimations
Dave I love how straight forward you are w your interview questions. So forward and to the point. Goes for the gusto. Great interview and great for Melvin. Always followed him as a teen and I hope and pray for him and his family.
Melvin Anthony, a great bodybuilder with great structure and round muscles.
Melvin is telling the truth 100%. I've met him twice. 1st time was in a hotel in Hawaii around the late 90's & the second time was in the in the Orleans hotel at the 2016 Olympia. Both times he was not only friendly but talked to me with no sign of being bothered or held up. When he talks about his awareness of taking time for the fans he is a man of his word. Super happy to see him back on the scene. Btw, when I met him in Hawaii I stepped into the elevator & he was by himself.....Dude was a tank. I asked him if he played pro ball & he told me he was a bodybuilder & then he only let me know he was pro after I asked if he was in any magazines. He told me that as a matter of fact he was actually in that months issue of i think Flex ( I could be mistaken, its been some years) & I wouldn't miss him because at the time of the photo shoot , " my hair was dyed like Rodmans". Cool memories!
That was way back. How are you bro? Thanks for the thoughts
@@marvelousmelvinanthony3813
Whats up my man ! Its really good to see you doing well. That night at the 'O, I was a few drinks down but I meant it when I said you're the reason I'm got into working out. It all goes back to meeting you in Hawaii. Please let me know if i can support you with anything you have going on with social media or the industry. God bless you big Melvin
Richard Marino Sounds good bro. Thank you for being a support and true person.
That thing about the "root" and the tree dying. Good shit...can't listen to it all but that was good info. Thanks.
Watched Melvin's training videos back in the day and he was an inspiration for me to train hard
“ What kinda Spaghetti is you eatin’?” Lol!!
Melvin prob don’t remember but in prep for one of my first shows working with my trainer Stacy a fitness pro she reached out to Melvin for some diet help and posing help. Melvin did it without even knowing who I was. It was a small local show and when Stacy reached out to Melvin he helped. This was back in 2009. To get tips from a pro like Melvin for free motivates me so much. That’s who Melvin is. Just a great guy. Great to hear from him again
Melvin anthony is bodybuilding posing perfection.
