Hey brother, just so you know, to date, just by watching your reviews (and checking it against other channels) I've purchased: 1) a Bushbox XL. 2) a Mini-Griptilian. 3) a Spyderco Paramilitary-2. 4) a Toaks Titanium (1600 ml) cook set. 5) some stuff for my EDC keychain. 6) and finally a Tops BOB knife. This a great channel with many informative and thorough product reviews. I have friends in Korea, Taiwan and Japan that watch your videos. They can follow your videos because you speak slow, clearly and you actually "gesture" with the items you're talking about (not all your viewers are english as first language!). My only suggestion is that you make more "how to" tutorials. Those are always good.
Living Survival Absolutely, and keep in mind that I know there are other channels that demonstrate some of my requests, but I enjoy the way you teach, especially the fire making/collecting timer videos. Just some ideas: 1) How to sharpen and care for a knife (especially an uncoated 1095 steel). 2) How to maintain equipment (i.e, bio fuel stoves, cookware) without damaging them. 3) How to repair items (i.e, tarps, sleeping bags). Also, someone had an idea for you to bugout for a week and record your day to day activities, and make it challenging! We would all learn much form that.
hi, nice demonstration of the XL stove, I own one and it's true that it's a great stove for cooking and cooking coffee, tea or water, I personally often use leather gloves for protect myself from burns and wooden spoons to cook meals, thank you for sharing
That thing is awesome i seen a guy on a hiking trail once with that and im old school i like i fire but when i seen how little wood it took and how fast it made water boil i was sold !!!!!! No axe needed.
I've been seeing this in a few reviews but most of them "talked more than used it". I loved yours for doing some real time dinner-style cooking! From start to finish it was pretty AWESOME. Thanks! Btw, I liked the pot combo. What materials was that made of? Might get that too. Seems to make a great day trekking bundle. Bravo job and combo kit. Look forward to seeing more of your videos too (new Sub here).
Nice stove.I do enjoy a bit of bushcraft myself and thanks to your review i will be one of those lucky people who will buy one of these wonderful stoves.Thankyou very much for your informative review.
I received the Bushbox Xl Ti. It weights about just over 500g with the case. There are so many scratches on the unit. I think the Ti material is more susceptible to scraches then stainless steel. I like the way I can use my Evernew alcohol stove with this unit. I carry 4 skewers with the Bushbox so that I can cook lamb kabobs outdoors.
Yi Li sounds like a nice bit iof kit. yes, after you burn it in and wash it a few times with steel wool which is what I use the scratches will not be an issue.
You probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Theodore Alex Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I really like this firebox, excellent! For now I'm using a grill plate from dollar general ( small cookie sheet with holes about as large as the firebox) for a surface. I might add some hardware store bolts and nuts to make legs, or dig an intrcate fire pit and use green woods.
Is this a bushbox xl video or a spaghetti video? :) great cooking. well done! 1 small gripe... I would not have washed the sauce off my plate, its sauce.... :) good video atb Gaz
why would you rinse the pan, if you are going to use it as a plate? you are washing away all of those sauce... doesn't make any sense. =) but still godd video mate.
Good review Living, now that you've tested both the Firebox and the Bushbox which one do you prefer? I've got a titanium Bushbox and I love it. I really can't fault it. 1.2 lb of pure joy including the cordura bag. Thanks for the post.
CharlieTango 1 Hello CT. I can't agree that the Bushbox is a copy. Firebox almost got the perfect design but for my money it's too heavy, as is the SS Bushbox. The only similarity is the fact that they are "boxes". The folding mechanism together with the ultra-fast flip-down, integral grate and ashpan are unique to the Bushbox. Firebox showed the way but Bushbox found the path. Bushbox Ti is very expensive but it is THAT good I don't regret having paid it.
Lets just say then, that this design was not Bushboxes, they did have the perfect design and that is why Bushcraft have it, let's just say I know more than I am letting on. enjoy your camping atb Ray
CharlieTango 1 Ray, if you had something to do with designing the Firebox then all I can say is that I waited a long time for the Firebox Ti design to be perfected. It never came. I know that there were a lot of issues with warping and it's something I try to avoid with the Bushbox by not having a raging fire. (The grate on the Bushbox is SS). May I respectfully suggest that any inventor needs to keep his ideas closer to his chest than a straight flush. Loose talk costs millions. I wish you well. Paul.
Hi Did the bushcraft XL keep you warm while you were cooking your Spaghetti Bolognese, and could you use it to keep you warm after you've cooked your Campfire meal !!?? 😃
Hey great vid man. Just out of curiousity, and with ur other vids on the firebox stove, which one do you prefer? I know they are both excellent stoves but I'd like to see wat you like. Great vid again
Stephen Tutty The firebox and bushbox xl are very similar, hard to say which is better. I like them both, but also like the solo stove because it is super efficient and the 180 tack stoves because they are more open and support a lot of weight.
+Average Joe Survival this and the firebox are the heavier of the larger stoves. I recommend the emberlit titanium if you want a larger stove that is super lightweight.
its a great review for the stove, it seems to work real fine and for both real hard cooking work and more moderate heat. thanks for showing, ill watch a few more and then buy the titanium version i think :)
This is the better cooking box, due to being heavy duty, stainless Steel, so don't get a cheaper model, get this X L. and also remember that the put together type, means you must see good enough to put together, even in the dark, plus you can not afford to loose just once side panel of the cheaper type, . so U get what U pay 4, and pay 4 what U get. This is one of the best, . NO doubt.
39camper Hi there, I can answer that question, they have been copied from the firebox and then he has put is own price on them, and you are paying a lot more for them, why don't you go direct to, www.fireboxstove.com this is the small company that designed them and makes them, talk to Steve, they also make a smaller stove called the Gen2 Nano firebox stove, I have one of these they are brilliant.
How does this compare to the Firebox? I have the Firebox, and almost bought this, but I heard this warps easier than the Firebox. Also the prices are way higher... I got the Firebox from Amazon for 90$ (Canadian). This thing is closer to 120$ ?!?! (Over 150 on Amazon Canada) Seems a bit steep for what I see as an inferior product. But would like to hear your thoughts seeing as how you have both... I do like that Bushbox offers a Ti version though (but it's like 300$!!)
Living Survival thanks for your input. I opted to get the Ti Firebox nano for ultralight backpacking use, and I’ll keep using my original Firebox for car camping trips. Btw: I like your vid on the Ti nano
I noticed mine had slightly warped after it's first use this weekend near the feet. It was carefully used so no chance it was damaged by mistake. I'll keep an eye on it this weekend too.
This comment, and others like it about the bushbox made me buy the Firebox instead. But how bad is the warping? I'm guessing it's still useable, but probably a bit annoying right?
Nick Jenks Both great stoves, with pots larger than shown in this video like a frying pan or a dutch oven I would use the 180 Tack since its lower and wider. Both pack about the same but the Bushbox XL is a bit more efficient and can boil water super quick (great for melting snow).

I wouldn't have bothered rinsing out the pan before eating out of it, and only half the meat you're taking. Which totally is irrelevant to the stove review ;)
ha ha - i like the way you got carried away with the meal so much you quit explaining all the things the stove can do. that is what happens to you if you cook spag boll.

CharlieTango 1 I've had the talk with Steve stating they copied the design, however they are not the same design. Similar designs are the nature of the business. Both great stoves and there are better ones out there than both of them.
+CharlieTango 1 The Firebox stove is A-symmetrical, the Bushbox is symmetrical and I find easier to use and aesthetically more pleasing. The Bushbox has a feeding gap for wood better than any other stove of this type. Different stove on the same theme and as you say pretty much a copy......however, although the Firebox may have been first, the Bushbox is a definite improvement! I have both. (I also have a genuine 'wild stoves' woodgas stove which is very hot, but crap, so don't get one of those whoever is reading this!)
@@livingsurvival do you mind sharing which stoves you think are better than the BBXL and FBG2? I am leaning towards the BBXL Ti but would like to review other stoves you think may be better. Thanks

Love this stove, only reason I don't have one is the price. Embelit is $35. But the Bushbox XL is really cool.
Yeah agreed is a bit on the high side.

You must have scratched the coating on your pot and pan by using the titanium fork.

You'll love it!
I hear chain saws near u
Dont know about you guys but i have had problems with warping after a while, making it hard to open and close

I would light a can of sterno in there so I wouldn't have to constantly put wood in it
But then you'd have to carry the can plus extra cans and that would add unneccessary weight.
