- 'I'm On Fire' by Mumford & Sons at the 3FM Mega Exclusive. Dedicated to 3FM-listener Jasper and his 50 friends and family members, the band played a private show at Tuschinski Amsterdam.
Jasper won this show by staying on the phone for more than 100 hours with Dutch radiostation 3FM. He did it for his girlfriend who lost her stepdad earlier this year. Mumford & Sons was the family's favourite band and their songs were played at the funeral.

There's a really beautiful story behind this gig let me tell you:
The radio station organized something called a line check. It meant that you had to stay on the phone as long it was needed to win.
The only thing was only one person could win. The person who won was able to bring along only 50 people.
The guy who won this gig stayed on the phone for like 140 hours straight which also meant he also broke the world record for most expensi... uhh I mean longest phone call ever.
The guy who won had a girlfriend. The stepfather of his girlfriend went to Pinkpop in 2012 and took a CD with him back home from Mumford and Sons. They all liked the music back home. Then the stepfather of his girlfriend promised him and his girlfriend "We are going to a Mumford and Sons concert one day!".
Sadly about a year and a half before this gig the stepfather heard he had cancer. One year later he passed away. The music of Mumford and Sons was also played at his funeral.
So wasting those 140 hours of his life wasn't much of a waste at all. He did it all for his girlfriend and her stepfather. He kept the promise but made it even bigger. And as he said with his last words of his long phone call "ONLY LOVE WINS IN THE END!"

As I watch this I cannot help but think howuch of a contrast Stevie is in comparison to today's female vocalists. Nobody knows what her legs look like, or her bum, no leotards, no thigh high boots, no absurd skimpy outfits... The woman rose to levels very few ever achieve in music history. on man, I've loved this song for so long, first growing up in a house of springsteen fans, then becoming a mumford and sons fan, then hearing this performed at one of their concerts (acoustic, all around one mic), and now the recording is stunning.

Yeah, the problem with this song is, it's so short, and it's hard for me to imagine how anything could be added to it to make it longer, that would still work with the original feeling of the song. It's almost as short as a haiku. I dunno, maybe make it even shorter? That would be like repeating a particular word or phrase a bunch more times. That's not what I would want to do, though. Somehow it would have to tell a story, a longer story.

I'm a guitar player, and I picked up ,my Martin D-28... not a hard song to learn....and I started getting deep into the lyrics as I do when I learn a new tune... and yeah.. it is real sensual a song with "feeling"... but I'm getting up in age,,, and I started to feel really creepy... started to feel like Jeffrey Epstein... trying to define in my own mind who "Daddy" was...and how "Little" the girl was and what daddy does and what I can do that he doesn't do, et cetera.. yuck... for gosh sakes, I have grand daughters!....so I'll stick to bluegrass murder ballads, don't feel icky as much picking them.
