Removing an Asbestos Roof is More Complicated Than You Think | Demolition Down Under

- Joseph and his demolition team are removing a massive, brittle asbestos roof from an old factory. This dangerous task gets even more complicated when they realise the structure has no built-in anchor points to attach their safety lines. To make matters worse, a water pipe bursts halfway through the job.

Look being an asbestos remover my self I can see a couple mistakes made in this. 1 all worker's must be clean shaved. 2 there are people on the floor under the people removing with out ppe on yes they sprayed the top of the sheets but asbestos fibres are still dropped to the floor when you lit up the sheet
Also they should be using HEPA Respirator filters too.
@@CycoReBoRn yh P3 at least.
Have you had any exposure in your time Robert?
I don't have a clue about the subject and I knew the lads underneath were in danger
😂😂😂😂
That’s some of the worst and dangerous asbestos removal practices I’ve ever seen and I’ve been in the industry 15+ years.
You wore safety equipment?!!???? Please say yes
What was dangerous about it? I don’t know much aboit this, but personally be worried walking on a roof like they are at the start without anchors, and what about others in the vicinity?
Standing on the roof first up without a safety harness.
The dust is so harmful and they are not clean shaven and some of them are wearing cheap P2 masks. Very hypocritical video. Lots of other mistakes in this video. Why did they not ensure all the utilities had been isolated. Another poor video by Discovery.
In fact it's a non licensed works. By law as long as you spray it with wetting agents you don't even need a mask.
i think it´s p3 mask
Lanyards wrapped around sharp steel purlins. There are special anchor point straps to use around purlins and etc. There is no way these guys have WAH certification.
Always interesting to see these videos! Explaining works and problem solving, fascinating!
I’ve had some very luck escapes while working on an asbestos roof.
What was that
'that dust is very Danger'
Lol
There not the sharpest knives in the draw!!!
Sharp observation
I do this as a job but its A Class Friable Asbestos
I done the same job for a couple of years , and they don't seem to the right masks or disposable clothing that needs to be destroyed as hazardous waste or any cleaning facilities (showers), after each time they are in contact with this material the fibers cannot be cleaned from your clothes the next time they Are in contact with public there is potential of cross contamination 🤦🤦🤦
Who told you fibers cannot be cleaned? I removed my shed and all asbestos was broken, Washed clothes 3 times, now I am afraid.
That depends on the type of removal
not smart fellas
So I fell through an asbestos roof shed at work got out pretty quick didn’t see any dust does anyone know if it will be ok ?
Don’t do it again (obviously) but you’ll be fine. The fibres in cement sheeting are very tightly bound and you got out of there quick
you'll be fine. you had minimal exposure and I'm willing to bet the amount of fibre's if measured would be less than 1 in the air around there. especially if you fell through a roof then the wind probably carried some away too. Realistically you'll only know if you're fine from asbestos like 30+ years after exposure.
Where’s the Aussies at?
Too lazy to do this kind of job
@@mra6308 not always 👍🏼
@@grantjackson2555 HahaHA whatever helps you sleep at night "mate" 👍
They were doing everything wrong here. Never walk on that stuff and then take off your mask without the correct procedures
Cowboys
They are taking soo much care just to take it down here little kids play upon them and workers install them like any other roof
They will be having breathing issues later on in life.
@@mra6308 nahhh seldom does it happen when you are in soo less contact of it, generally happens to them who work in factories which make asbestos there they come in direct contact.
Bruh what does this mean your English is so broken
@@slayanarav2565 it should be clear now
@@mra6308 Its mostly just going to be chest pain and pain when inhaling but its not going to be as major as you think, and the chances to develop symptoms of asbestosis are lower than you think
Stands on an asbestos roof 😂😂😂😂😂 strip it from inside you helmets 😂😂😂😂
You have obviously never done asbestos removal.. it’s fixed from the top.. it’s a horrible job to do
Temporarily taking mask off breathing in all fibres caught on clothing and in air…
It's bad but it's not that bad. not matter what you do you are GOING to in hale and consume asbestos if you work with it. Despite it being law, no jobsites ever have showers on them, and the only 2 things that actually work to prevent you or anyone else being exposed to it is showers and your respirators, otherwise it is a fact of life that you will inhale or consume asbestos to some degree.
Budys r tarded just cuz you do a esbestos job a week dont meen u kno what u doin
Bring back asbestos NOW!
