9. I am from 1971, so kind of grew up with ABBA. Sound is a tad too perfect, probably due to better instruments, digital recording and so on. But they are very, very close.

they are not influenced by modern music, they are the influence.
I mean literally this. Sweden is the third or fourth largest producer of pop in the world and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that ABBA started that.

I read some comment from somebody that was convinced that they had been using autotune.
These girls were singing in tune when you had to sing in tune yourself, because noone did it for you.
(Sometimes it is obvious their voices have aged, but they have aged with...amazing grace.)
People seem to take Frida and Agnetha's vocals here for granted. These are singers in their seventies and they still sound as good as ever.

And not to mention that other artists in their seventies have done the same without losing too much steam. But Frida and Agnetha are just such a cut above the rest.
I admit that I was worried about them not being able to sing like they used to... The usual thing is that your voice changes when you get older. The band members are over 70 years old!! And they still sound as awesome as they did all those years ago!!! 💪😄 That's insane!! And I'm sooo proud of my countrymen!! 🇸🇪
Right. For 70's, they sing very well. They really took care of their voices over the past 40 years. They are a register lower, but still in excellent condition.

A former choral master who had a pensioners' choir called Frivilligkören ("the volunteer choir" - a pun: Frivilligkåren, "the volounteer corps", consisted of Swedes fighting with the Finns during the Winter War)
was upset with people making fun of that choir, and said that he had sopranos there with young girls' voices.
And Elisabeth Olin, a famous Swedish soprano during the reign of Gustav III,
is said to have hit the high notes with equal grace when she was 80 as when she was young.
It is, at least partly, a matter of staying clear of outright damage to the vocal cords and mental inhibition
(the voice being the expression of the soul is very sensitive to that kind of thing) and keeping at it.
Anni-Frid's and Agnetha's voice are beautifully aged, more soul, full of experience of a whole lifetime.
I haven't once been able to listen to this song without floods of tears. It is so emotional & beautiful. It's mainly happiness that they're back but also sadness as I mourn my lost youth & all my teen years growing up with ABBA.
Sharon! I literally cry every single time I hear it... waiting 39 years for it is probably the reason.. When Frida sings 'I still have faith in you' with about 40 seconds to go, the waterworks start... I almost can't handle how much this affects me.

As an "old fart" original ABBA fan -- I was seventeen when Dancing Queen came out -- this song brought me to tears. It is so incredible to hear so many of the next generation(s) also loving a song that touches me on so many levels. I listen to these words, think back to who and where I was when they were on the radio and who and where I am now, and feel such a rise of hope, faith, love with this song. I can only imagine how they are feeling, after forty years, hearing how appreciated their music is now.
To fellow ABBA fans who've been endlessly searching and commenting (like me) on *EVERY* reaction video to the new songs in the past week: can we all just agree Joe's is the best?! We've spent our entire lives defending ABBA's masterful grasp of music to 'casual listeners', and Joe's technical review bears that out. I didn't want to bring age into it as Joe's clearly an accomplished professional, but to know younger generations appreciate and admire ABBA's technical musical ability is almost as heartwarming as the new songs. Thanks, Joe 😊
I've always thought the real tragedy of the breakup is that - The guy's never found singers who interpreted their work so well. And the girls have never found songwriters that could write songs so tailor made for them. When their working together there is a synergy or magic or whatever you want to call it - ABBA. Well done Agnetha. Well done Bjorn. Well done Benny. Well done Anni-Frid. Well done ABBA. You've just proved again no other band even comes close.
I don't know about that. Their albums for 'Chess' and 'Kristina fran Duvemala' are pretty inspiring and they hit the top of the charts with 'I Know Him So Well'. I'd recommend looking up 'Du Maste Finnas' for a pretty powerful Benny and Bjorn effort.
I love both songs! Björn said, "immediately when I first heard Benny playing this melody, I knew, the lyrics must be related to us." Proud to be a Swede! It's a 10 from me! 🎶 🇸🇪❤

Wow what a production.. Technically brilliant They are back to lead the way yet again, They are influenced by no one...Fantastic musicians in there own right. The world needs ABBA right now.
1. I Still Have Faith in You is malancholic, it's the type of song which grows in you as you listen to it more and more often.
2. Don't Shut Me Down is more upbeat and dancy, the type which you like straight away.
Conclusion- Both are great and have their own strengths. Just enjoy them as they are

Almost a sequel to The Way Old Friends Do. So happy the Swedish Fab Four are Back! What a joy to hear them in such harsh times. Both Frida and Agnetha's voices are so prominent and on point, as is Benny and Bjorns famous writing style! Welcome back ABBA - we have missed you all! 💟💟💟
Its an 11, this music is timeless. It doesn't matter how old you are this is a unique group that transcends generations and will not doubt dominate the charts for the rest of the year. The song was about relationships in particular their own with each other so every human being on this planet can identify with their message. In this time of COVID what a way to heal our pain.
The more I listen to it, the more I absolutely love it! So it’s a 10 for me.

Frida is 76 and her voice still gives me goosebumps.
I always wanted to be Frida when we "played ABBA", singing with a record, in the handles on our skipping ropes 😝
Velvet voice, known for low tones, but in reality she can everything, jazz, opera....
Having heard Agnetha's album a few years ago, her mature voice is familar (and beautiful), but to hear Frida's incredible voice again just sent shivers down my spine! And then the two of them back together, wow. So incredible to have them back with a new album, and this time getting the recognition they deserve , unlike with The Visitors which was virtually ignored here in Australia, my dream come true.
So sad because it contains two of my most favourite ABBA songs: Soldiers & The Visitors.
The ABBA concerts will be a digital representation of them with a live band, brought to us by the wizards at Industrial Light & Magic. The girls voices are still amazing at 70 years of age.
Frida is an astonishing 75! Her voice is still incredible and frankly brought me to tears on first hearing ISHFIY.

You are right : ABBA went beyond our concept of pop music and even time yet sound like vintage ABBA.
At first you might think it's just a boring ballad, but that build-up! Epic, beautiful, pure and raw Abba - utter class! :)
It sounds like the story behind why they came back together. How they wondered about it but decided they trust each other’s talent to make it work after the time passed and decided to give it a chance. They have more to offer their fans.
Until now two new ABBA songs have been known, both different in their themes and leading voices And both have the ABBA trademark on their solvency in musical composition and production
We know the great spirit of perfection that Björn and Benny impress on their creations, and both new creatures live up to their great successes of the 80s.
So the biggest mystery was to know the state of the voices of Agnetha and Frida and how they could react to the inevitable passing of the decades and their possible comparisons with previous classics.
And I must also say that they both look very good
And in that "look" there is an extraordinary job of caring for Björn and Benny to "take care" of their historical singers, partners and former partners. They gave them two wonderful songs, with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, but they were also surrounded by the iconic hooks and the appeal to emotional nostalgia
"I still have faith in You" is an unpublished song in its conception in the history of ABBA
because it is self-referential about them as a group,
and it is also testimonial, because they tell us about their experiences in all this time
Musically it is a ballad with mystical and epic
A stately and majestic piano, and Frida's soft voice conducts and recreates ABBA's story with poignant beauty,
with Agnetha joining in some verses to emphasize
The sound of the drums arrives (a nod to the mega hit "Fernando") as if preparing the change of rhythm
And with a powerful guitar comes that first unpublished chorus, because this time all ABBA sings from the bowels of its history and with the strength of its testimony of life, of healing and togetherness.
And in the second chorus, even stronger, it becomes very clear that ABBA sings with the passion and courage that Björn's excellent lyrics stand out, it is like a triumphant song of their survival and their bond.
And it ends with a solo by Frida, flawless, with the flutes at the end
Also isn't a commercial song (more than 5 minutes) it's so emotional, with a fantastic vídeo of all greatest memories of pictures, official videos of 70s songs and Australia tour

In was in high school and college when ABBA was at its peak, and I was (am) a HUGE fan. This song had me in tears the first time I saw the video, and I still tear up hearing it after about 1.5 million listens. I tend to think reaction videos are sold short if they're done without watching the video, but I'm admittedly biased. With that admitted bias, this is my favorite of the two, but both get unequivocal 10s!

Well…it has to be a 10. Firstly, to come back 40 years on and still sound like they did back then….is amazing. I can’t believe they are all in their mid 70’s, you just can’t tell that from the quality of the vocals. Bring on the rest of the album and the stage show!!

ABBA actually did the first music video ever and it was for a very practical reason back in 1975. One year after winning Eurovision they got their international breakthrough and it was Australia who gave it to them. Problem was, demand exploded and there was no way they could respond in person all over the globe so their very clever manager Stikkan Anderson came up with them music videos to keep the momentum going worldwide and it worked😉

ABBA did this song and rest for millions of people, they wanted to give hope to our 🌎 it comes at a good 👍 time, it helped during a very traumatic childhood had no one being adopted by immigrants who were victims of warfare. Now it comes again to help and heal again.::

They are experts. Björn and Benny has done this their entire lives. They didn't stop 40 years ago when ABBA took a break. They have been writing two musicals and countless other songs. And producing them.

First time hearing it was meh ,but then i just had to listen again and again and again ,so addictive ! Agneta and frida harmonies are amazing , sounds like one voice-magic time.it just gives me joy_the secret of abba.they are incomparable, the gold standard. 12 out of 10.
