Many tokamaks are doughnut-shaped, but Gwen McNamara, a member of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory’s communications team, shares how PPPL’s primary fusion experiment, the National Spherical Torus Experiment-Upgrade, is actually shaped more like a cored apple.
