Philipp Scheucher Plays Liszt Transcendental Etude #4 "Mazeppa" ` Munich Airport
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 тра 2015
- "Come play a Steinway" says the sign by the piano. Luckily for me, this was enough temptation for concert pianist Philipp Scheucher to give us a free concert! He was practicing for his concert in Lviv, Ukraine. His website is www.philippscheucher.com and there are other videos of him on youtube from piano competitions and appearances.

The best streetperformance i have ever seen, and so little people are watching. Probably an indicator of great art
It is an airport, not everyone has time to stop they are in a hurry.
I think that’s in due part to the pianist being very good although slightly out of tune although I do enjoy his playing very much
Most people hate mazeppa when hearing it for the first time. I think if someone would play it in a mall as loud as it's supposed to be played they would get kicked out. But i've been listening to it for like 3 months at this point it's so good
He's a professional piano player and that looks to be a Steinway piano
How much luck do you need to see a street performance on “mazeppa” 😭
Certainly more than moonlight sonata mvt 3
Or to finde a Steinway on an airport😭😭😭
@@Nikhil-ox6wc moonlight 3 is definitely overrated in it’s difficulty. It isn’t easy per say but it isn’t too hard, either.
@@ryanting1707 Yes. The notes fit under the hand very well. What makes Beethoven’s sonatas hard is the musicality. One wrong mistake in phrasing ruins the whole section.
@@dingy8764 true, but once you play it a bit you won’t make many mistakes, there are many Beethoven sonatas that are much harder
People like simplicity. I seen other videos that people are performing in the street with a simple chord and everyone stops and sees with amazement. This guy is playing a very hard song that only professionals would venture into that realm but no one cares like if they hear that before. How sad.
Great performance.
They are just ignorant, they don't have enough culture, if you play Amelie Poulain you will get the attention of everyone, nowadays they don t have a single clue of what is a good pianist. No flight of the bumblebee suck! Poor society
@@erbol8116 why do you sound like an elitist
@@Noggenfogger1 it just a true fact
@@erbol8116 I do not see the problem with people not knowing classical music, when I play lizst I am told i should stop playing and it sounds awful by most people. It is not about how many people appreciate your playing but rather that you enjoy it yourself, and it is always nice when someone else can also appreciate it
@@Noggenfogger1 the thing i was point mate it that nowadays pop music has more recognition than classical one, that sad
I love how Liszt resurrected at 4:08 (in background) to listen to his own piece.
He’s been eating a lot of junk food, lately
@@i.ehrenfest349 yea he isn't used to time travel since earlier in history junk food simply didn't exist :(
This man has a simple mind: I see a Steinway, I play the Steinway.
No wonder, he's a concert pianist. Probably the best street performance I've seen on UA-cam. And.... a Steinway in public?!
Yeah and a red one that's... Weird 👀
@@thomasgazzoli4000 feel like my eyes will hurt playing on a red piano
How’s this guy not having an audience? This is like the best public performance on the internet, especially all that boogie woogie BS
Boogie woogie lmao 😂

It’s always older folks who seem to stop and listen. Most older people I know grew up listening to some amount classical music and recognise famous pieces like these.
Its not even classical?
21 yo here
@@DVZM. he means classical music as in the genre not the period. Obviously Liszt was a romantic composer but it's still considered classical music.
In many classical music concerts, the audience is a sea of gray and white hair
What on earth? This was played with the musicality and finesse of an accomplished, famed virtuoso. I'm stunned you aren't as known as you deserve. You have all the technical ability and energy a Liszt interpreter at the pinnacle of musical performance requires.
He's a concert pianist.
This might be the one and only time you hear Transcendental Etude #4 in a random public performance 😂
Phil is a personal friend and this sort of spontaneity is so in character for him
Best street performance ever... you hear he is truly professional like from julliard school, tschaikovsky konservatory, or Cologne or Vienna University of Music
Actually, he is from kunst universität Graz
@@wuzz A classical composer that composed various string pieces. (At least mostly.)
@@aidanguy2182 Has piano concertos too
@@franciscoferraz6788 That is why I said mostly, of course there are going to be exceptions.
@@aidanguy2182 Don't forget the one that was entirely composed for cannons too
such a beautiful playing
i like this one especially because it's different than those typical piano pieces that are played on public pianos
you dont see a pianist who plays Mazeppa every day
MAGNIFIQUE ...
3:20 imagine you walk in airport and someone playing this
Yea...
Most people probably too ignorant to enjoy it.
Stunning performance of an extremely demanding piece. All respect to this wonderfully gifted musician for sharing great music!🌹🎹🌹
Steinway just casually at the airport while in my country it's almost impossible find one
We have them seriously everywhere here in Austria haha. Feeling really lucky to be able to play on one at least ones a week.
@@DVZM. WHAT like I've never seen a piano in public in my life. I live in China
Amazing man, I would pay thousands of dollars to see u play, and that people are watching for free, what lucky they are
God bless ya awesome pianist
Wow... this is absolutely incredible!!
so lucky to see him play!!
Whoa... the mighty 'Mazeppa'... Liszt didn't just write Etudes... he wrote transcendental ones.... these are fiendishly difficult, and what a treat to hear this for free in public!
Wtf he's actually playing it do well.
The mistake in 3:39... he played the piece so well, the accidental mistake becomes part of the piece itself because of how smooth is is
Not as well as boogie woogie
Best ever... seen other videos about street performers but this ... this is the best! Your average pianist cannot pull this piece so easily. I hope one day See this live
Unbelievable 😅 Etüde transcendental No. 4 leggere and brilliantly performed. Thx for that 🌟🙋
Red Steinway on public? WOW
just one word: wow.
so epic
Why is there a red Steinway with a hydraulic bench in an airport????
Not many people are gonna know what is really going on here. They see some guy making noise in a somewhat controlled manner on the piano, so they move on. The people that stop are the people that know this piece. I’ve never seen this performed in person, and if I ever got to stand right next to the piano and watch someone play this, it would be something I’d brag about for the rest of my life.
very very talented
This is just sad they much rather hear bohemian rhapsody then Mazeppa that's crazy good job On the playing!
it's his transcendental etude no4 not his sonata
Fixed the title Thanks!
@bossdragondyeah
Right
@@macrobitgames2266 my channel is also good
@Aeipathy
Well yeah, typically you upload something and don’t check the title every day to make sure you didn’t mess up
Great
The piece didn’t even end lol
Shame that most people have the 5-second attention span of a gnat these days.
J H personally I don’t like to judge people that are in a rush or hurry but if it meant listening to something like this, i would definitely stop until the piece is finished
Or, you know, have to go somewhere. It's an airport.
Shame that actual adults don't have all the time in the world to waste unlike you, child.
@@misterling645 Yo chill, damn. At least you can agree that too a certain extent people should appreciate his playing no? Like the girl standing there looks like she's had enough lol.
1:40 Someone said "this Is Debussy"....how? 😂
😂😂😂
🔥🔥🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow mazzepa
I know some people might insult me haha, but let’s be honest, people stop and listen only when they hear something lovely, and we can’t really say that it’s easy to appreciate Liszt. He wrote absolute beauties, but 90% of his repertoire is way too “artistic” and “virtuose”.
Recently I read a book about Chopin (“Chopin, prince of the romantics” by Adam Zamoyski) and Chopin said in a letter something like this : “Nobody equals Liszt at the piano, but in terms of composition, no one will remember his melodies.”
And I think he’s right...while people can remember hundreds of Chopin’s melodies, they can only a few of Liszt’s.
You also have to remember Liszt composed a lot after Chopins death and one his most famous pieces (liebestraum no.3) was composed right after his death. Liszt became less flashy as he aged and focused more on the musical side of things.
Shut up
Lemme listen
To whatever i want
That is quite harsh from his friend Chopin... His Rhapsodies, Sonata in B minor, Ballade in B minor, and Liebestraume series (particularly No.3), not to mention his own emotional variation on a Chopin piece as a memorial of Chopin's passing... he was extremely productive in his later life and wrote poignant and beautiful pieces that were in fact ahead of their time.
wow
Best hard Liszt Hungaryan Simphony
If you practice 40 hours a day, someday you will play like this 😎
Ling Ling with piano!
@@mikihara_tsukiko easy
Wow they have a random steinway sitting in the mall
O C T A V E S
god
He should play it without pedal so people actually hear what he's playing and how difficult it is
That’s his 4th étude not his sonata lul
Mazeppa
bro.... the end
He plays with stacatto
Staccato
Better than Rousseau
crazy😂
Steinway in airport? Wtf
legeno
0:17 No one says he played wrong
Because nobody cares about his mistakes, it is a very hard piece so mistakes are natural
Hardly easy Lisztening but exceptional none the less.
Mazeppa in public? You don’t get to see this every day😂 and those ignorant people just walk away😢
Lol it is Liszt's grandson in modern day
Fast niemand schätzt sowas... Schande
Eh!, why don´t you follow on the airplane? (I can help you to carry de piano)
I don't know why I find it so depressing that there are people in the world who can't be bothered to turn their heads for this: ua-cam.com/video/1r3DWjJM9dQ/v-deo.html

@@nicklewisatx Either that or she is waiting for her turn to play Wilde Jagd
one can appreciate his technicality and dexterity, but he was rushing and making a lot of mistakes. I know, criticism from someone at a lower skill level can seem invalid, but you can't ignore that the song sounded a little sloppy.
Yeah there were some mistakes here and there but that is to be expected with a piece like this
Mad cuz cant play
