Well, Carbon Motors tried this exact thing with their E7 model. The company shut down in 2013. Part of the issue with it is that the car was expensive and couldnt grab mainstream appeal. The car was not able to be auctioned off after service because it was near impossible to civilianize the car. As nice as it would be, a dedicated police car just wouldn't work because the market simply doesn't see fit something like that.
Not strange in the slightest, it's the same all over the world. A police vehicle fleet needs to accommodate multiple uses - response work, officer transport, prisoner transport, simple transit for non-emergency work, unmarked policing, highway patrol, surveillance work, detectives. Can you find one model of car that does all that? Also, if there's a product recall and you use that one vehicle for your whole fleet, you're in trouble. You do not want that for an emergency service (replacement ermergency vehicles are not as easy as just hiring a bunch, they're all fitted and specialised). Mixed fleets are more responsible.
The best offer by a company is used. That determines the newest model brands. They also determine what vehicles they get as well. Other vehicles can also determine protection, equipment carrying, and prisoner transport size.
no need for it, its simply a car. of course they may seem like normal vehicles but they are pretty different to the civilian ones, owning one i would know lol

@@Bill-bj9fn Yea those Carbon Motors vehicles looked really promising too.
The 2nd one that dome the U turn was not messing around
Fr 😂😂😂😂😂😂
yeah they look so fit and healthy to serve and protect everyone .....
what part of NYC was this? I know I've seen those double decker level train tracks somewhere.
0:13 i have never seen an american fiat police car
Nypd has everything you can think of.
i think its used as parking enforcement
Smart Car you mean. It’s ridiculous but that’s what they’re into nowadays. :3
Is there a reason why NYPD seems to only use the manual siren? When I'm responding somewhere I just set it and forget it.
and they still have rotating light bars, very old fashioned…
Makes you wonder why their budget is billions per year 🤔
@@waterpotter2952 the design is old fashioned but those are new light bars
because people live here and if every cop did that it would be sirens 24/7 especially for those who live near police stations
It’s to prevent responding units from hitting into each other believe it or not , due to all the buildings you can’t hear where sirens are coming from and has lead to collisions from responding units
Didn’t know some of the explorers came with five cylinders 😆
Bro, they were lost in the sauce lol.😂
Holy moly what a catch what ended up happening ??
Officer was stabbed in a Starbucks, the panic button was pressed but he is hospitalized and OK!
@@FirstRespondersNY wow so the officer has the panic button on them?
Wow 🙏🏽
Yes they have a button built in their vest that beeps through all PCT Radio Communications, help call when he’s far away from a police area
@@FirstRespondersNY I hope that officer is recovering well! Prayers and Blessings from the Fiji Islands ❤🇫🇯💖
When seconds count the police are only minutes away. Be your own first responder
Yes, police are second responders.
The light must have gone on at Krispy Kream.
They just heard Dunkin Donuts is having a BOGO special. 😋
0:29 that launch was sick
Who gets the smart car?
That would be me. LOLOLOL
"Attention six zero precinct, the new Krispy Kreme is now open"
Wonder if they would rush this fast for a donut call.
in law enforcement this is known as an oh shit moment
I drove over 100 mph to get to my colleague who was wrestling with a subject...in a 45mph zone...only to finally get there just as the situation came under control. I tried.
Oh, and you don't want to cry wolf on these situations, either by pressing it accidentally or by pressing it when you're not in dire need.
over 100 in a 45 yikes dude thats not something to boast about
@@kamishorts999 gotta get there
So what does the entire shift just hang out at their station till they get a call? Unions...
That first explorer is tapping out
