i tie alot of catskill style dry flies since i was a kid..i i personally never use a single feather for the wing..i think always 2 feathers is better for numerous reasons..mostly is when you use a single feather and cut a V in the feather you have all different fiber length that shows when the wings are split and posted especially and more so on that large hook your using..

scrap the rib and use rust/tan dubbing mixture and use reg med brown hackle,, a bit thicker as well .. works really good
Thanks for the observations. Tried to stick close to the traditional pattern. But have no doubt some adjustments would be very effective.
