Has the CAA Lost CONFIDENCE?

- Опубліковано 11 лют 2025
- Hey everyone! Join Sean, Graham Degg and Matt Williams for our final show in this series of shows focusing on the issues surrounding the CAA regulation of drones and the lower airspace. As well as bringing yet more revelations, we will be making a call to action for viewers to send letters to your local MP, requesting action that will result in a Parliamantary Inquiry. We will also explain how to raise your own complaint to the CAA. Template letters to assist will be made available during the show.

I have given up trying to follow the CAA updates. They change everything so quickly and have virtually nothing to support small businesses and hobbyists. I have tried to get hold of them many times to acquire information and just get sent a general email that always amounts to nothing.
I did not renew GVC or pay for registration after the last year ran out. Keep up the good work. ❤
Thanks Sean. This is very interesting and disturbing. Nice to see you Matt -thank you for teaching and prepping me for my GVC
Tied up last night, so watched this when i went to bed, excellent work as always email being sent!
@Geeksvana You should get the Private eye involved. This kinda of scandal should be out there more.
Good show Shaun
Done, look out for my BCC, thanks for Standing up for us. Ashanti dutch
Sadly, from my experience the CAA are very capable of finding dozens of ways of punishing those that complain, that you can't easily take legal action against. I am starting my second complaint through the ICA, after my first complaint went through a full PHSO review. I am convinced I am being deliberately punished by the CAA for challenging them on behalf of my own company and the rest of the commercial community.
ABIT off the topic but what caddx walksnail prebuilt 5" drones would be your choices
So to cut a story short, is this going to affect the current rules and regulations for drone flyers under 250grams?
The incompetence of the CAA and their ongoing refusal to offer fair and proportionate regulations impacts every single drone user.
@@Geeksvana I was just curious if it was a major rule change that was affecting us as users. But i've sent in a letter all the same.
@uavmisadventures1 amazing. Thank you for supporting your fellow drone users.
Chinese proverb: The nail that stands highest gets hit the hardest!
Might be worth considering in some of these matters.
100%, the CAA are happy to take your money but have no interest in doing anything about rogue pilots etc...
Done
If and when you have time could you point mé in the right direction I have 2 DJI mini's, but nów am seriously interested in fpv preferably 5", yóurs sincerely mark
Sorry not DJI but probably caddx walksnail
Interesting video. But, and I don't wish to be a damper on all this, I do need to be honest. I don't feel I'm on the same page as you guys at all.
I'm not a pilot, aviator or whatever you want to call it. I don't run a business involving drones in some way, I'm a simple hobbyist who flies small - sometimes up to 210g, more commonly 25 to 60g - FPV quads for fun. I keep well out of peoples way, keep low, always well under tree level, and stop if anyone comes near. As far as I can see, I put no-one and nothing at significant risk, certainly less than a golfer, footballer or cricketer does - they are all using the airspace much as I do, and I hit golf balls much further and faster than I fly. If I collide with a 737 or F35, I think I'd be justified in asking what exactly it's doing down where I am.
Yet here I am, lumped together with the great body of aviation which includes everything up to Airbuses and Typhoons, and that is simply because the organisation that manages professional manned aviation has been told it can also control what I do in the air in my back garden.
I can see why larger manned aviation needs serious regulation - just look at Washington. I can even see why businesses operating camera drones in crowded workspaces, or close to airports, or amateur drone flyers at significant height or making long range flights need it. But me? No, I don't, any more than a footballer or golfer does.
But here I am, lumped in with the rest of aviation, controlled by a body that thinks it can scale down professional aviation rules to my level. Well, it doesn't work, and it never will, because the concept is flawed. All that is needed at my level is to keep within this space envelope, and within this weight limit, and be sensible. That's it, and it's probably why I identify best with xjet, because - I think - that's pretty much what he feels.
So, I'm afraid, I think all the talking in the world with the CAA, or complaining about the CAA, is a waste of time from my perspective, we just start in totally different places, and sadly, they have all the power. To me, it's just an innocuous hobby, and like most hobbies one weighs the aggravation and enjoyment. When the former gets too big, one moves on to something different. And, it's close now. Still there's always indoors, they don't regulate that. Yet.
That's why we are not talking to the CAA. That isn't the plan. If you don't have any desire to defend on a hobby or commercial basis, that's OK. Nobody said you had to make a complaint 😁
@Geeksvana I just think it will have no noticeable effect. The rules are so far out of kilter it's unfixable. However, go ahead. Why not.
@Nkkdxn45j this isn't about the rules. It is the conduct of the regulator. Two very different debates.
@@Geeksvana not to me, closely intertwined, it shows a cavalier don't care attitude to the community, reflected in the regulatory actions they take. But look, if you feel my comment - which is honestly what I feel - will put others off, feel free to take it down, it's your channel.
Conduct of the regulator for sure, but they are supported by our government...scary they might "operate" in the same fashion.Im here in Brazil atm, sunning myself and flying an fpv drone; everyone public wise don't care about "privacy" and THEIR "rights" in fact they clap me,or come up to me and ask about my gear....which pleases and enlighten me simultaneously.
Refreshing after flying in England.
Drones, whatever that means......are really positively looked at here for the work,or fun they can deliver (rather than expensive to hire and of course dangerous(aka crashing on your head!) helicopters/crop spraying aircraft,Many people ask me if my 5" fpv machine is good for agricultural surveying, spotting vacas(cows).. sadly I say no,(não).. you'll need a DJI camera drone.
Then...they're VERY confused understandably....bless 'em.🤭🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
