i'm just obssesed with finding the meaning of all the books that appear on the movies i watch.
Aftersun is a 2022 drama film written and directed by Charlotte Wells, starring Paul Mescal, Frankie Corio and Celia Rowlson-Hall. It was released in the United States on 21 October 2022 by A24 and in the United Kingdom on 18 November 2022 by Mubi.
Aftersun is a period film set in the late 1990s and follows Sophie, an 11-year-old Scottish girl, on vacation with her father at a Turkish resort on the eve of his 31st birthday.
The film received universal acclaim from critics, who praised Wells' direction and screenplay, and the performances of Mescal and Corio. It was also named one of the best films of 2022 by the National Board of Review and was awarded top place by Sight and Sound on its poll for the best films of the year.

Great video! One more thing about the books, though. Margaret Tait's book being there also feels like a foreshadowing of sorts, as some of her stories deal with the growth of a child with an absent parent.
I think this shows that Callum was concerned for Sophie's future and wanted to raise her as much as he could in his last few days. This is why the last few scenes before the final dance have Callum learning about Sophie's kiss (an indication that she has almost grown up into an adolescent). Also, apparently the movie itself was based on one of Margaret Tait's stories.

Thank you so much for your insightful video on the book symbolism used. I probably didn't notice it because I was too busy sobbing for most of the film. Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio had excellent chemistry with each other, and I liked the theme of how we never really know our parents when we're children.

omg i've missed your comments so much! yt gave me so much trouble with the content i was doing so i been trying to change it a little bit, i'm so happy to see you're still here! i'm really into book symbolism now otherwise i wouldn't have notice it either because this movie is so emotional! it also gave me a lot of nostalgia of my childhood holidays
