I firmly believe that Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are why people keep giving new 3d Sonic games a chance regardless of how bad the previous one was, especially after 06. They're hoping that we can get another game like Sonic Adventure.
I agree. I'm hoping the success of the films gives new purpose to the game devs to sit down and make frontiers or the next game great. While adventures 1 and 2 can sometimes be technical nightmares, the worldbuilding and extra elements that brought those two glory is really lacking in the new releases
One of my favourite little touches in this game is that during the Super Sonic story all the characters show up, including Gamma, as the little bird following Amy. It’s such a nice little touch that you probably wouldn’t notice, but I love it.
I honestly think that SEGA was onto something with these new-style 3D Sonic games. I was 10 when I played SA2:Battle and it made me a hardcore fan. Sonic Heroes was also a home run for me. I’m 30 now, but I still enjoy playing SA2 on Steam. Good times.
Loved watching this. After growing up a Sega and Sonic fanboy, I found Adventure to be the culmination of multiple generations - it was our Mario 64. I look back on it fondly and it looks great with mods in this video. Glad you enjoyed it!
The Sonic Adventure for PC is not Sonic Adventure, it's Sonic Adventure DX:Director's Cut, that abomination is not what Sonic Adventure is, with the dreamcast restoration now it is the real Sonic Adventure.
@Sonic My only complaint against Adventure is the lack of a good remaster or port. I prefer Sonic 1 for the GBA than watching SA1 murdered so badly by the DX abomination.
This game holds and immensely special place in my heart as it was the first game I ever played. Way back on the Dreamcast, I guess part of the magic was that every Dreamcast game somehow felt massive and connected to every other Dreamcast game in some way. And some of them did kinda tie in at points but it's the reason the Dreamcast is my favorite console of all time, such a great classic piece of hardware that gives me inexplicable feelings that give me an emotional high unlike anything I've ever experienced. I never understood the hate for SA1, it was very ambitious and you can tell they cared about making something they thought was good. I fucking love this game with every fiber of my being
I love Sonic Adventure 1, but, and this might seem really minor, my favorite thing in the whole game is the flawless ludonarrative of the hint ball being the spirit of Tikal At the beginning of Knuckles's story, after the master emerald shatters, you see not only Chaos, but the floating ball we'd previously understood as the hint ball in Sonic and Tails's stories next to him as well, and as we find out later it was Tikal who sealed herself inside the master emerald She's the one giving you hints and advice because she wants you to succeed, so she can quell Chaos's anger again. She's the one showing you visions of her past so you can understand what's not only what's at stake but why it's happening, what Chaos is and what he can be. It's just something you don't see in later Sonic games, hell, in most games in general, the hint box actually being a full character, or if it is, it's made clear from the get-go (like Chip in Sonic Unleashed) and isn't a final story twist. (There was at least sort of a "twist" with Chip at least I guess?) SA2 would have *shudder* Omochao, but it was funny beating him up and causing him to glitch and get amnesia Heroes and Shadow would have the characters themselves comment, which is better than 06's disembodied voice (which COULD have been the Duke of Soleanna in a similar fashion to Tikal but they dropped the ball there), but still not as satisfying as the Tikal Ball.
I love that people are finally coming around and appreciating these types of games. This, SA2B, FFXIII Trilogy (1st is my favorite story of all time but Ive always said that it isnt a *great* game to play perse.) etc.
Hey, man I'm glad you enjoyed it but I will defend Unleashed and boost games in general except for Forces. Yes, they are linear but they're so engaging man. Especially Unleashed and Generations. The games make the best use of Sonic's moveset being the lightspeed dash, quickstep, stomp, slide, homing attack, drift, and of course the boost. Reaching alternate paths, and the best paths to get the best time. Colors is more on the automation side but it's still more engaging than Forces and the moveset was simplified a little bit due to controls on the Wii so it was a bit more restricted and that's not the game's fault. There were also the wisps and even though they're controversial now they complimented the gameplay so well in Colors.
9/9/99 that day, "Open Your Heart" kicks in during the opening. That set the bar. Amazing levels, lots of characters to play. But that soundtrack is so good. The levels and story progression was fun to see. Quite different from modern entries. Adventure was experimental. I dug those concepts as well Definitely a fun journey
I remember when I first played this game when it launched. I remember as a 9 year old kid I was having a euphoric experience. I loved sonic on the genesis and the jump to the Dreamcast was just mentally incomprehensible. To this day I’ve never felt such a high playing a game lol. This is still the best sonic game and a damn shame sega refuses to remaster it.
I'm with u buddy I was about 8 or 9 when this game came out got my Dreamcast on Xmas 1999 and it blew my little mind! The music, the graphics, opening cutscene, the deeper story, hearing them all talk and interact... Incredible. Completed this many times and holds so much close to my heart and memories. It was like playing the most epic movie ever
I was 14 when Dreamcast dropped and I felt the same way. Although at the same time I even knew back then that the game was awkward, unpolished, and rushed. I was honestly super disappointed while at the same time what my eye balls were seeing was next level shit. I guess I was just spoiled by how polished Mario 64 and OOT were

Love this matty. This game was my childhood. 25 years later I still play it on my dreamcast and gamecube all the time. Definitely one of my favorite sonic games
Gamma's story was amazing. Definitely play Sonic Adventure 2. I still pop it in my GameCube sometimes to run through a level and visit my chaos. Adventure 2's story is not even close to the first
I was always so dissatisfied they simplified the story or rather the scope. It obviously is more cohesive in 2, but man I just wonder if they advanced the Adventure aspect and own fields how it would progress…though I guess Sonic 06 told us “wasn’t a great idea”
What I loved about Amy's story was that she actually got to explore Hot Shelter in its entirety. That is one of the best stages in the game. It's got one of the best bgm in the game, and it's so wild and fun. Characters like Sonic and Tails wouldn't have done well in it since it's a more slow paced stage, and plus they had Sky Deck as a stage for the Egg Carrier.
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are my favorite Sonic games. I wish SonicTeam would take Sonic back to his modern Sonic roots. Quite honestly, Sonic 06 and and the games before that are the only Sonic games I genuinely like (I do like Unleashed and Generations). But the adventure series and the Genesis games are undoubtedly the ones I pick back up the most
I commend you for going back to it. This game honestly was for the generation that grew up with Sonic in the 90s. It probably would stand to have a good remaster, but thus was the turning point for Sonic. Honestly it’s pinnacle for being on top, having a new release and being a benchmark for a platform. It could use a return to this, but it also is a relic of its time. It is a Mario 64 in a time where everyone wanted their own 64, which worked so well fir Mario because they built that around Mario. Sonic may forever work better as a 2D platform, but this game did allow for a level of ambition that was not available then or since for the genre or series.
Some aspects of the game haven’t aged well and Big’s fishing can be a bit annoying, but Sonic Adventure is still such a fun game. Also the soundtrack is still top tier one of my favourites in the series.
I absolutely love this game, I have always been a fan of Sonic since I first played 1 & 2 on iOS before the Christian Whitehead remasters, and to me SA1 is absolutely my favourite Sonic game of all time, although Unleashed (which I first played a few days ago) is rivalling it for no.1, and Generations is up there too after Adventure & Unleashed. I own SA1 both on PC & Dreamcast and I love both versions to the point where I’ve fully beaten it on both platforms, the PC version with a ton of mods to make it basically a perfect HD remaster of the Dreamcast version is definitive to me and absolutely beautiful. I think this gameplay style is the best in the series, and has the best story, although the voice acting and dated presentation has aged awfully but I kinda like that, it’s comedy gold if you go in with the right mindset and I love it for now stupid it is. I also think the Dreamcast graphics aged amazingly and I love the style and wish future games went for it. The more open design of the stages than modern Sonic, although still linear, feels really unique for the series and I love how you can skip tons of the levels with well timed jumps, and it’s full of shortcuts, both intentional and otherwise, and the best part is THE DEVELOPERS KNEW, and rather than try to fix it they ran with the idea and kept it, and even encourage it. For example, all the stages have a time trial mission you can do to get an emblem, and Emerald Coast has a surprisingly tough time limit for the first stage, and it’s basically required that you use a well timed spindash jump to skip a section, and the game basically shows you where to do it as well as on your first run you get thrown up in the air on a ramp that lets you make the same jump if you move right. Playing through all the stages and finding all the shortcuts just feels incredible. I admit, it’s far from a perfect game. I love Sonic, Knuckles, Gamma, and kinda Tails’s gameplay styles, and I actually quite enjoy Big’s. It’s short and simple, actually quite fun contrary to most people’s opinions, and the music is usually great. Amy’s is not great but it’s not horrible, and luckily it’s very short like the others. I would love to see the game get a proper rerelease with the Dreamcast art returned and higher quality audio and stuff like that, and an improved camera and some nice control fixes, and maybe even an option to skip big. (because as much as I enjoy his stages, EVERYONE hates them and the remake would bomb no matter what changed if big was still required.) It would be amazing! I’m glad you enjoyed the game even if you didn’t love it to the same degree as me.
As a quick recommendation if you _do_ end up playing Adventure 2, this might sound like kind of weeb thing but trust me, it's not lol: you _might_ want to play it with the original voice track and a mod called "Sonic Adventure 2 Retranslated", which changes the subtitle track. The reason is because SA2 is _very_ story driven, even moreso than the original Adventure is, and some parts of the story in the official English translation are notoriously sloppy or mishandled, to the point where it actually ends up detracting from the story and making it make _less_ sense. There's also just the fact that the dialogue isn't properly lip-synced to the English audio, whereas the Japanese vocal track _is_ properly lip synced to the character animations. I myself have a lot of nostalgia for the english audio track, and I'm not the type of person who thinks Japanese is better simply because it's Japanese, I just figured I would put it out there that the story, which is a large focus of the game, will likely be improved on a first playthrough for you if you invest that tiny bit of extra time to tweak its presentation to more closely mirror its original intention.
People say Sonic had a rough transition to 3D, but Sonic's controls peaked with Adventure 1. Sega just said "let's ruin what we perfected!" for every game afterwards.

The Sonic Adventure are very important to me as Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast was the first video game I ever played and Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the first video games that had a story that really had me gripped and the ending had me crying. I wish modern Sonic games would try to be more like a modern version of the Adventure games but sadly SEGA seem to have an identity problem with Sonic since all the games (aside from Mania) is just SEGA throwing ideas and stuff on the wall to see what sticks but it all ends up resulting in a mess. And it is disappointing that Sonic Adventure Remakes got cancelled because if you Remake the Adventure games with updated graphics and fixed all the problems and glitches people had complaints with, you could have two amazing games and then SEGA could even take that style of gameplay and make more Sonic games with that style of game and then maybe SEGA could start having good Modern Sonic games again instead of incomplete messes like Sonic Boom, Sonic Forces and Sonic Colours Ultimate.
When I was a kid in the late 90s, my dad used to take me to the Palisades Mall, so he could browse around CompUSA for computer parts. I would always B-line it directly to the Dreamcast display, and play Sonic Adventure as long as I possibly could. When I got my own Dreamcast for Christmas, it truly was a "dream" come true. I'm convinced that a combination of Sonic Adventure, Pokemon R/B, and watching my parents play through Myst & the Zork games during my formative years is what brought me to my lifelong obsession with open world adventure/exploration games.

I love the insight it's fair for the title and some people would try to give the game flack for not being 1080 when it didnt exist but for what this game was it was definitely one of the more memorable sonic games is it better than adventure 2 no but it was a excellent entry
One thing I wish they added to DX: So in SA2, if you do some random key combination, Big the Cat will make cameos in every cutscene, and also in the levels. He presumably gets hit by the truck in City Escape, he's in the background in the temple levels, etc. SA1's story purposefully puts all these characters in situations where they meet, but don't necessarily interact. There might be some small dialogue, but it's usually just exposition. What they should have done with Big was, like in SA2, put him as a cameo in every level, and maybe in the background of a few cutscenes. Then at the end of the game you unlock Big's story. It shows exactly how he got to each of his improbable cameo locations.
I think the first sonic adventure is better than the second. The first feels more like a sonic game and has a better concept and a better tone. I replayed the second one recently and outside the sonic stages got bored fairly quickly.
I have beaten the game countless times since its release (95 baby) and i have played with the turbo mod and that is literally how modern day boost should have been implemented to adventure
I still am a Sega fanboy, however I'm the Sega Master System/Genesis/Saturn fanboy. I owned a Dreamcast- it it was a GREAT SYSTEM. the issue is once Sonic Heroes hit the shelves - 3D sonic never felt the same since then. The exception is Generations and some areas of Sonic Unleashed. I really hope Sonic Rangers or whatever Sega calls it turns out well. Open world would be a good start- I really just hope Sega gives you more control over your gameplay.
This game is peak comfort. Its cozy, its cute its funny (intentionally or not) its just got so much charm. I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Adventure 1. Youd have to be heartless to hate something so pure.

I got Sonic Adventure DX for GameCube for my 9th birthday and loved the hell out of it. I beat it the following summer of 05 and picked up Adventure 2 Battle shortly after. To this very day, Big the Cat has always been one of my favorite Sonic characters. Loved him in Sonic X before I got the games and was so stoked I could play as him
I bought sonic adventure on my series x and yeah game play wise it is kind of dated. But it for sure brings back memories, supposedly they're making an open world sonic game next year.

As a kid this was my favourite game ever on the gamecube, but I never completed it cos I was so young. But I never knew you could play as super sonic! Makes me wanna go back and play it again to be able to play as him!
The unleashed disrespect hurts man, also u not seeing anything in 2d with sonic games is the point, Sonic has always been trail n error which is my favorite part because I have s ranked most levels in the game and every s rank i got was rewarding as hell because it felt like I was really learning the level.
This video raises a very interesting question: if you play a game that is modded well beyond what the original developers designed, does it make sense to give it an updated review? For most people, they simply are not going to go through the effort to do this. It’s an interning approach to playing retro games but it almost seems, I don’t know, like cheating? Like take Wii/GC games. Often they get dinged for not looking great on modern TVs. But if you throw those bad boys into Dolphin and crank up the settings, they can start to look like modern releases. But is that really playing games as intended? I have doubts Nintendo ever thought Chibi Robo was gonna get uprezed to 1080p or beyond when they had Skip release that game. I don’t know, it kinda feels like revisiting a movie after you’ve made your own edits.
I've always thought that Big the Cat attack was pretty brutal. Looks like a simple tap with a rod but the idea of a person whipping a rod with a lure at the tip is rough.
I am sick and tired of this... Big the Cat cannot and should not be removed from the story. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! Big the Cat is misunderstood and doesn't need a character development. He teaches the meaning of slowing down and not every Sonic Game has to be about speed. And there's one thing he has in common with Knuckles... They're not used to stepping outside of their comfort zones. For Knuckles it was to search for the pieces of the Master Emerald. And for Big it was to find Froggy. Another good teaching idea for big's story in sa1 is sonic games were sometimes not always "gotta go fast" because going fast too much of the time can eventually get kinda boring. Plus, he had the courage to face Chaos 6 and he set up the Final Story. So, without Big's Story there's no context
I encourage you to find a way to play fps boosted Unleashed. I still have a lot of Sonic games I haven’t played, but so far Unleashed is my favorite with Generations coming at an extremely close second.
I’ll admit that I place this game on a pedestal, as it was one of my favorites as a kid. But it still holds up. Maybe not top 5 material like I see it, but really good nonetheless.
The main reason big the cat was in the game was because at the time of dream cast, fishing games was a really big thing. Will admit hated it as a kid as froggy would never latch on. Levels would take about 30min, then play as an adult realise if I hold the left stick down latched anything that was near by spread run his levels under 1 minute then 😂 will always love sonic adventure games if they remastered this game I'd actually preorder it and I never do that now.

I got to play for the first time a couple years back and finally finished now when i turned 21 and i gotta say ive loved the game's world, gameplay, characters and story. Everything just felt so lively and charming and imo i feel like the dreamcast version holds up p good and tbh looks pretty in alot of ways lol.
Played Sonic Adventure in 2002 because loved SA2 so much I bought a Dreamcast to play SA and Jet Grind Radio. Loved SA and like your self preferred it to 2 at the time
also buddy the gameplay you showed is half the speed at which you can go in this game with decent skills ( ofcourse this was your initial gameplay and I was 1/10th the average speed first time soo), You can spin dash jump to literally anywhere, and use the crazy level designs to skip like 80% the stage
I recommend using the original japanese stories of the sonic games and not english ones i understand you maybe dont know japanese and that is why you dont use them but windii has translated lot of the japanese cutscenes. (unfortunately most of her videos were deleted but there are some repost i have made a playlist of most of the reposts on my channel.) but other than that good video. There are also a few retranslated mods you can use. And the voice acting is just way better.

Gamma's story was amazing. Definitely play Sonic Adventure 2. I still pop it in my GameCube sometimes to run through a level and visit my chaos. Adventure 2's story is not even close to the first
I was always so dissatisfied they simplified the story or rather the scope. It obviously is more cohesive in 2, but man I just wonder if they advanced the Adventure aspect and own fields how it would progress…though I guess Sonic 06 told us “wasn’t a great idea”

What I loved about Amy's story was that she actually got to explore Hot Shelter in its entirety. That is one of the best stages in the game. It's got one of the best bgm in the game, and it's so wild and fun. Characters like Sonic and Tails wouldn't have done well in it since it's a more slow paced stage, and plus they had Sky Deck as a stage for the Egg Carrier.
Sonic Adventure was awesome back in the Dreamcast days. You should check out Hydro Thunder.
Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are my favorite Sonic games. I wish SonicTeam would take Sonic back to his modern Sonic roots.
Quite honestly, Sonic 06 and and the games before that are the only Sonic games I genuinely like (I do like Unleashed and Generations). But the adventure series and the Genesis games are undoubtedly the ones I pick back up the most

I commend you for going back to it. This game honestly was for the generation that grew up with Sonic in the 90s. It probably would stand to have a good remaster, but thus was the turning point for Sonic. Honestly it’s pinnacle for being on top, having a new release and being a benchmark for a platform. It could use a return to this, but it also is a relic of its time. It is a Mario 64 in a time where everyone wanted their own 64, which worked so well fir Mario because they built that around Mario. Sonic may forever work better as a 2D platform, but this game did allow for a level of ambition that was not available then or since for the genre or series.

Some aspects of the game haven’t aged well and Big’s fishing can be a bit annoying, but Sonic Adventure is still such a fun game. Also the soundtrack is still top tier one of my favourites in the series.
This, Toy Commander, Shenmue, NFL and NBA 2K, and House of The Dead (with light guns!). Man, I loved my Dreamcast back in the day.

I absolutely love this game, I have always been a fan of Sonic since I first played 1 & 2 on iOS before the Christian Whitehead remasters, and to me SA1 is absolutely my favourite Sonic game of all time, although Unleashed (which I first played a few days ago) is rivalling it for no.1, and Generations is up there too after Adventure & Unleashed. I own SA1 both on PC & Dreamcast and I love both versions to the point where I’ve fully beaten it on both platforms, the PC version with a ton of mods to make it basically a perfect HD remaster of the Dreamcast version is definitive to me and absolutely beautiful.
I think this gameplay style is the best in the series, and has the best story, although the voice acting and dated presentation has aged awfully but I kinda like that, it’s comedy gold if you go in with the right mindset and I love it for now stupid it is. I also think the Dreamcast graphics aged amazingly and I love the style and wish future games went for it. The more open design of the stages than modern Sonic, although still linear, feels really unique for the series and I love how you can skip tons of the levels with well timed jumps, and it’s full of shortcuts, both intentional and otherwise, and the best part is THE DEVELOPERS KNEW, and rather than try to fix it they ran with the idea and kept it, and even encourage it. For example, all the stages have a time trial mission you can do to get an emblem, and Emerald Coast has a surprisingly tough time limit for the first stage, and it’s basically required that you use a well timed spindash jump to skip a section, and the game basically shows you where to do it as well as on your first run you get thrown up in the air on a ramp that lets you make the same jump if you move right. Playing through all the stages and finding all the shortcuts just feels incredible. I admit, it’s far from a perfect game. I love Sonic, Knuckles, Gamma, and kinda Tails’s gameplay styles, and I actually quite enjoy Big’s. It’s short and simple, actually quite fun contrary to most people’s opinions, and the music is usually great. Amy’s is not great but it’s not horrible, and luckily it’s very short like the others.
I would love to see the game get a proper rerelease with the Dreamcast art returned and higher quality audio and stuff like that, and an improved camera and some nice control fixes, and maybe even an option to skip big. (because as much as I enjoy his stages, EVERYONE hates them and the remake would bomb no matter what changed if big was still required.) It would be amazing! I’m glad you enjoyed the game even if you didn’t love it to the same degree as me.
Big has 1 upside and it’s his absolute hilarious “FROGGY” I played this game when I was a small kid and him saying froggy has never left my brain
As a quick recommendation if you _do_ end up playing Adventure 2, this might sound like kind of weeb thing but trust me, it's not lol: you _might_ want to play it with the original voice track and a mod called "Sonic Adventure 2 Retranslated", which changes the subtitle track. The reason is because SA2 is _very_ story driven, even moreso than the original Adventure is, and some parts of the story in the official English translation are notoriously sloppy or mishandled, to the point where it actually ends up detracting from the story and making it make _less_ sense. There's also just the fact that the dialogue isn't properly lip-synced to the English audio, whereas the Japanese vocal track _is_ properly lip synced to the character animations. I myself have a lot of nostalgia for the english audio track, and I'm not the type of person who thinks Japanese is better simply because it's Japanese, I just figured I would put it out there that the story, which is a large focus of the game, will likely be improved on a first playthrough for you if you invest that tiny bit of extra time to tweak its presentation to more closely mirror its original intention.

The Sonic Adventure are very important to me as Sonic Adventure 1 on the Dreamcast was the first video game I ever played and Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the first video games that had a story that really had me gripped and the ending had me crying.
I wish modern Sonic games would try to be more like a modern version of the Adventure games but sadly SEGA seem to have an identity problem with Sonic since all the games (aside from Mania) is just SEGA throwing ideas and stuff on the wall to see what sticks but it all ends up resulting in a mess.
And it is disappointing that Sonic Adventure Remakes got cancelled because if you Remake the Adventure games with updated graphics and fixed all the problems and glitches people had complaints with, you could have two amazing games and then SEGA could even take that style of gameplay and make more Sonic games with that style of game and then maybe SEGA could start having good Modern Sonic games again instead of incomplete messes like Sonic Boom, Sonic Forces and Sonic Colours Ultimate.
When I was a kid in the late 90s, my dad used to take me to the Palisades Mall, so he could browse around CompUSA for computer parts. I would always B-line it directly to the Dreamcast display, and play Sonic Adventure as long as I possibly could. When I got my own Dreamcast for Christmas, it truly was a "dream" come true. I'm convinced that a combination of Sonic Adventure, Pokemon R/B, and watching my parents play through Myst & the Zork games during my formative years is what brought me to my lifelong obsession with open world adventure/exploration games.

I loved the original on Sega Genesis. You could add the Knuckles cartridge and get to places you couldn't with Sonic.

I used to be obsessed about the chao garden in sonic adventure battle 1&2.
The gameplay is so much fun in both of these games. The cutscenes do show their age, but also have charm.
One thing I wish they added to DX:
So in SA2, if you do some random key combination, Big the Cat will make cameos in every cutscene, and also in the levels. He presumably gets hit by the truck in City Escape, he's in the background in the temple levels, etc.
SA1's story purposefully puts all these characters in situations where they meet, but don't necessarily interact. There might be some small dialogue, but it's usually just exposition. What they should have done with Big was, like in SA2, put him as a cameo in every level, and maybe in the background of a few cutscenes.
Then at the end of the game you unlock Big's story. It shows exactly how he got to each of his improbable cameo locations.
I'm eternally convinced that Big the Cat's campaign was an advertisement attempt to get kids into Sega Bass Fishing.
I think the first sonic adventure is better than the second. The first feels more like a sonic game and has a better concept and a better tone. I replayed the second one recently and outside the sonic stages got bored fairly quickly.

I have beaten the game countless times since its release (95 baby) and i have played with the turbo mod and that is literally how modern day boost should have been implemented to adventure
I still am a Sega fanboy, however I'm the Sega Master System/Genesis/Saturn fanboy. I owned a Dreamcast- it it was a GREAT SYSTEM. the issue is once Sonic Heroes hit the shelves - 3D sonic never felt the same since then. The exception is Generations and some areas of Sonic Unleashed. I really hope Sonic Rangers or whatever Sega calls it turns out well. Open world would be a good start- I really just hope Sega gives you more control over your gameplay.
This game is peak comfort. Its cozy, its cute its funny (intentionally or not) its just got so much charm. I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Adventure 1. Youd have to be heartless to hate something so pure.

I got Sonic Adventure DX for GameCube for my 9th birthday and loved the hell out of it. I beat it the following summer of 05 and picked up Adventure 2 Battle shortly after. To this very day, Big the Cat has always been one of my favorite Sonic characters. Loved him in Sonic X before I got the games and was so stoked I could play as him

As a kid this was my favourite game ever on the gamecube, but I never completed it cos I was so young. But I never knew you could play as super sonic! Makes me wanna go back and play it again to be able to play as him!
The unleashed disrespect hurts man, also u not seeing anything in 2d with sonic games is the point, Sonic has always been trail n error which is my favorite part because I have s ranked most levels in the game and every s rank i got was rewarding as hell because it felt like I was really learning the level.

This video raises a very interesting question: if you play a game that is modded well beyond what the original developers designed, does it make sense to give it an updated review? For most people, they simply are not going to go through the effort to do this. It’s an interning approach to playing retro games but it almost seems, I don’t know, like cheating? Like take Wii/GC games. Often they get dinged for not looking great on modern TVs. But if you throw those bad boys into Dolphin and crank up the settings, they can start to look like modern releases. But is that really playing games as intended? I have doubts Nintendo ever thought Chibi Robo was gonna get uprezed to 1080p or beyond when they had Skip release that game.

I've always thought that Big the Cat attack was pretty brutal. Looks like a simple tap with a rod but the idea of a person whipping a rod with a lure at the tip is rough.
This console was released prior to the PS2 & Xbox, and back when the N64 & PSX had block polygon characters… truly ahead of its time

Big the Cat cannot and should not be removed from the story. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!! Big the Cat is misunderstood and doesn't need a character development. He teaches the meaning of slowing down and not every Sonic Game has to be about speed. And there's one thing he has in common with Knuckles... They're not used to stepping outside of their comfort zones. For Knuckles it was to search for the pieces of the Master Emerald. And for Big it was to find Froggy. Another good teaching idea for big's story in sa1 is sonic games were sometimes not always "gotta go fast" because going fast too much of the time can eventually get kinda boring. Plus, he had the courage to face Chaos 6 and he set up the Final Story. So, without Big's Story there's no context

I encourage you to find a way to play fps boosted Unleashed. I still have a lot of Sonic games I haven’t played, but so far Unleashed is my favorite with Generations coming at an extremely close second.

I’ll admit that I place this game on a pedestal, as it was one of my favorites as a kid. But it still holds up. Maybe not top 5 material like I see it, but really good nonetheless.
The main reason big the cat was in the game was because at the time of dream cast, fishing games was a really big thing. Will admit hated it as a kid as froggy would never latch on. Levels would take about 30min, then play as an adult realise if I hold the left stick down latched anything that was near by spread run his levels under 1 minute then 😂 will always love sonic adventure games if they remastered this game I'd actually preorder it and I never do that now.

I love Sonic Unleashed
I got to play for the first time a couple years back and finally finished now when i turned 21 and i gotta say ive loved the game's world, gameplay, characters and story. Everything just felt so lively and charming and imo i feel like the dreamcast version holds up p good and tbh looks pretty in alot of ways lol.
Played Sonic Adventure in 2002 because loved SA2 so much I bought a Dreamcast to play SA and Jet Grind Radio. Loved SA and like your self preferred it to 2 at the time

Yo sonic adventure 2 is amazing, it’s got that old game appeal. You should definitely give it a run-through
also buddy the gameplay you showed is half the speed at which you can go in this game with decent skills ( ofcourse this was your initial gameplay and I was 1/10th the average speed first time soo), You can spin dash jump to literally anywhere, and use the crazy level designs to skip like 80% the stage

I recommend using the original japanese stories of the sonic games and not english ones i understand you maybe dont know japanese and that is why you dont use them but windii has translated lot of the japanese cutscenes. (unfortunately most of her videos were deleted but there are some repost i have made a playlist of most of the reposts on my channel.) but other than that good video. There are also a few retranslated mods you can use. And the voice acting is just way better.
