Why?
This is a great innovation, I remember growing up and having science class ask us to make homemade stuff similar, though not nearly as complex. I hope this next generation is learning how to think on their feet so to speak! I also hope if SGDH, everyone has a drill, a hot glue gun, an exacto knife or similar, a heat gun, and electricity so they can have spiral pieces of potato! 😂😂 still love the video, well done.

Technically, you only need a knife, a can, something to sharpen with and something to impale a potato with. That plastic bottom is not necessary anyway.

That snow plow with the tank is an old converted Vanderbilt tender from steam days. Union Pacific converted a number of these old tenders for snow plows, weed dusters and other MOW cars. The passenger cars in that odd consist are RDC’s (Rail Diesel Car). These were built by Budd back in the late forty’s early fifty’s. An impressive line up of antique railroad equipment. Thanks for sharing.

Only if the cost of tools to make this weren’t more expensive than the thing itself.
You could do all of this with a dremel tool, power drill and a hand file which anyone remotely into DIY would have. That’s the point of projects like these.

Awesome! Instead of going out to buy one, all I really needed was a can, a box cutter to cut the paper off, a drill with appropriate bit to drill holes in the bottom, a ruler to measure where I'll cut it with a grinder, a screw driver to bend slightly, a metal file to sharpen, a plastic bottle, again with the box cutter, some scissors, a heat gun, a thin metal rod, cut with grinder used earlier, sharpened to a point, bent with the end of a crescent wrench, the bottle cap drilled into with two separate drill bits, some screws, precision cutting into the plastic with a razor, hot glue gun along with glue for said gun, and there you have it! How convenient! Good thing I didn't waste all my time and effort just buying a cheap one from the store!
Exactly. The amount of time, effort and money that has gone into making this, when you can simply buy one for a few dollars at a discount store while you're already out and about.

While people are right about the contamination of the exposed cut metal, bacteria is killed at 165°F. Spiral potatoes are baked at 400° or deep fried at 375°. No one is eating potatoes raw :-)
I used to deliver to some high end restaurants in Melbourne CBD. Going in the back where customers never see. I’d NEVER eat at some of them! Those were popular expensive restaurants. One of the office girls were saying how much they loved eating at this one place. I told her I’d never eat there ever if it was free. She asked why? I asked you ever been in the back of the restaurant? I told her I’d never eat in almost any of the restaurants we delivered to, and the food inspectors must get bribes of some sort. Granted 2/3 are ok, but the 1/3 I wouldn’t let my dog eat there.

@@djdoc06 I'll agree about the plastic for sure, I personally rarely buy soft drinks and I'd be lucky to have a single tin can of use within a couple of months unless it's beer cans and even those are rare. We are in a mess regarding the plastics industry, I share a house with someone who constantly puts steel and aluminium tins into the bin for landfill and it's painful he won't change his habits no matter what I keep saying. Some food outlets are using recyclable paper bags and card yet we still have a huge selection of plastic wrapped foods unless we have shops that paper bag items. I have had to make conscious changes and I still have a way to go yet.

you could use a hacksaw and a file.. or if you'really cheap, bend the rod back and forth till it snaps then rub it on the concrete till it's filed down.

@@platinumpepe8626 well i dont have that type of drill bit, nor the heat gun or the spinning blade/sander. However I do have a screwdriver, an exacto knife, a glue gun, a plastic bottle, a can and a potato. And I would still need to find a a rod of some sort to bend as well.

You don't cook them. They are just for decoration, kind of like flowers.
Tornado potatoes (Korean: 회오리 감자; hoeori gamja), also called twist potatoes or tornado fries, are a popular street food in South Korea. You may search for more information and pictures. My wife ussually deep fry or bake it in the oven. Wish you have a nice day!
Yes, you can cook them. But you need much oil! For one or two potatoes it may not be worth.
However if you have an Oven then try baking, however you need to suspend the coil.
