  • Orange tendersweet watermelon with its yellow flesh and sweet and rich flavor and the Ananas D'Amerique cantaloupe with white flesh instead of orange.
Ananas D'Amerique originates from France and has a short shelf life so it is not commercially available. An heirloom variety said to be one of the originals that the common cantaloupe came from. Noted as one of the most flavorful melons and a rare treat. I cannot disagree with that statement.

I tasted a seedless one for the first time. Even if the inside was cracked. It was so great and had a hint of honey. I want to grow them now but seeded

Can I ask what fertilizer did you use ? I’m trying to grow watermelon this year for the second time I failed last year 🙈

I struggled with watermelon too but then a friend told me to fertalize with a high nitrogen fertalizer when the plants start to grow, get their true leaves and start spreading but to stop high nitrogen when they start flowering and use a high phosphorus and potassium based fertilizer. For High nitrogen, I use blood meal, for after flowering I used garden tone but it still has more nitrogen in it than ideal so I'm looking for others to try this year.
