The finish is provided by carnauba wax.

I think what I enjoy the most is that it isn't geometrically perfect. I enjoy making a piece where you can 'feel' the wood. Smooth but not like plastic. Your pieces show that it can look perfect and not have to be perfectly put together. It is something that was made with love and enjoyment. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder , do you lie awake at night developing an idea that has come to you ? Or do you go into your workshop , cut , glue, pour in some colour and see what happens ? Inspiration is the engine of any artist, it can't really be controlled.. I think you have to know how to grasp ideas when they pass.. and then after you have to interpret them and finally realize them.. if possible.. .

@@bawbreizhartwood If I may make a further comment, I would say that the lid was superfluous. To me, the piece's beauty lay in its simplicity and 'unclutteredness': it had the organic feel of the purer end of the Art Nouveau period: arching iris leaves against the clean shape of the wood. No addition needed.

This is stunning!! The idea is so creative and turned out beautifully, and everything from the colors and the shape is chosen perfectly to make the coolest possible result! Something about the shape of the lid is so satisfying to look at, and I love how the sparkling green resin makes it look like tall blades of grass or the tail feathers of a tropical bird. These kinds of videos make me really want to go learn wood turning!

It depends on the way the pieces of wood are arranged as well as the shape given to the piece during the turning.
The hardest part is predicting the pattern.

I liked that. I can’t wait to start. So many influential pieces on this channel. I was wondering if you could have added more leafs to the fan template making more separations? Obviously, this would make a more complex pattern but would it make the peace weaker during turning? I’m new to turning but keen to learn. 👍🏼
We can always do more but I'm not sure it improves the final rendering because you always have to think about the pattern when turning on wood😉

(I have stopped doing that as I was giving myself headaches) Do you ever sit staring at a pile of wood pieces, a Red Bull in each hand, slam them down, and an inspiration, (or perhaps a convulsion) pops into your head? I like the lids because they protect the contents of the container.. here I did not make a rebate on the vase so we can use it without the lid 😉
