All these years, I’ve only heard Dark Night of the Soul. We even performed it. Never did I hear it’s continuation: Luminous Night. Now I wish we performed that too. Absolutely beautiful.
It's unbelievable how much space and distance there is in this music, and at the same time one feels that one is immediately close and deep inside this music. Wonderful music and again an amazingly eloquent piano. Thanks
This is truly beautiful and uplifting. Although I can't help imagining Ukraine's peoples in basements huddled together for warmth and safety, hopefully not being bombed by that madman. Oh let's pray somebody stops him soon and those brave journalists also remain safe, and international students get across the borders without more disturbing incidents. Blessings. I have Georgian music to learn to sing for peace, but this would be sooooo much easier and uplifting to learn. The Georgian music is beautiful when sung together, it is just my untrained western ear is not making a lot of sense of the line on it's own. Bless the composer, may he continue to raise our spirits and humanity as well as his own. Fiat lux xoxo 🕊🕊🕊🐝🐝🐝🐨
I've just come from a choir concert where Dark and Luminous Night framed the concert as first and last piece. I did cry a little in the end, and had to listen to it again immediately when I came home. So very beautiful.
Beautiful!!!! I can't find the words to describe this piece.... Im sing in an spanish choir and in a few weaks we are going to sing "Ubi caritas", one of a wonderful songs of you. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I absolutely love the quadruplet chords played by the piano during the last repetition of "ah the sheer grace". I've heard many recordings where the piano is drowned out by the singers, but this one is perfect! Very beautifully written!! Enough to give me chills!
My high school choir performed this at our Christmas concert. This was by far my favorite song I have ever sang as a bass. I just wish we did the 2nd part of it
What an incredibly talented musician and composer you are, Ola! Your music is exquisite and a balm for the soul. I'm an American raised by my Norwegian-born family, and your music makes me very proud of that heritage. Takk og Gud velsigne deg.
It's an acoustic crossover between Howard Shore's LOTR OST, Audiomachine and Christopher Tin, regarding the epicness and harmonies. I do hope seriously that the hint of our choirmasters, mentioning we'd be singing a Gjeilo piece soon, means THIS piece.
This guy has been right up there with whitacre and Forest for years. Why don't we hear his music in schools more often? Also, is this a reimagining of "dark night of the soul"?
Luminous Night sounds like the main theme from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe... anyone else? From 2:38 on in this theme (particulary when it gets to 3:13): ua-cam.com/video/LMyuNG1wyKU/v-deo.html
I still come to this song my bird Loves this … 🖤🙏🏽

Everytime my choir sings this, I always tear up when we say "Dark Night of the Soul" the first time. It's just so beautiful.

Am I the only one who thinks luminous light sounds like the narnia main theme. Both truly sound great tho.

Also, is this a reimagining of "dark night of the soul"?
Hi! Sort of; it's a shortened, combined version of Dark Night and Luminous Night of the Soul :)
@@olagjeilo Oh shoot, I didn't realize I was on *your* channel. Wonderful stuff, as always!
