I didn't really know what I was getting into when I started cake decorating, but now I know my intuition was, in fact, correct. It's all about a creative outlet and a chance to release my inner artist. I don't have the skill set, yet, but it's coming along slowly, but surely. At age 70 I'm getting a late start, but it's just as satisfying to see my creations take form.
Your colour choices are SO good. So refreshing after watching so many other cake artists who throw bucketloads of food colour in & it ends up looking so heavy & childish. Your pastels are perfectly classy.
These cakes are amazing. I love how simple you keep them, allowing the all the smaller details to shine. The floral and fall ones are so pretty. Definitely the most unique looking cakes I have seen on these videos.
I made your oreo cake last week for my husband's birthday and it took me like 4 hours to make but my husband was in awe and everyone thought I ordered it from a bakery so A+. I've never had cake quite that texture. It was moist and creamy and thick. Very hard to describe but very good.

Les Claypool It isn't as easy as you think, its really hard to get good, detailed cakes without messing up. But i guess you're pretty good at it since you think its easy uwu. Not tryna be rood or anything.

LoL In this life, I live in Canada, winter is far too long, I work far too many hours, I do not have time to bake on a regular basis BUT when I do, my "techniques" are already improved by watching your videos... so, it's not a bad life after all! Can we just take a moment to admire the level of CAKE MAKING ability here? I have yet to produce a beautiful level marvel such as I'm seeing here. And do not underestimate the skill needed to get perfectly smooth sides and tops. That's some next-level artistry there, kids.
I think John Kanell is a very talented chef. I am amazed at the imaginative ideas in which he demonstrates. I'd have to practice a lot before I got to his caliber, but one thing that has happened: I don't want your average boring iced cake anymore. Something creative has to happen.

Decorating is not hard it's making the right things you need is difficult. Making the right buttercream, baking a good cake etc.
