Estelle so sorry you lived during a time when people were ignorant to mental health and treated it like a curse. You deserved so much more better. I'm so happy you were given your flower's and the recognition you deserved at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2007 along with Ronnie and Nedra. Rest with the angels Estelle Bennett. 🙏😇 ❤.
The level of sophistication and innocence in the Melodie’s of the verses n hook are second to none. To say it’s under appreciated does not suffice. A song that transcends music with honesty and depth for all time.

Until recently, I thought she left singing alone after The Ronnettes disbanded. I’m glad to know she kept singing. I don’t know why. I just feel for her based on things I’m reading. She at least got to appear onstage with Ronnie and Nedra before she went to Heaven.
Estelle didn’t deserve what happened to her after The Ronettes. Where was her family? Where was the love? What went wrong? It’s sad a person gets love and concern once their gone.
@@cocoaorange1Ronnie and Nedra kept in touch with Estelle until she died that day in 2009. Estelle was not homeless. She had shared an apartment with her family and cousins say that she often slept in the streets by choice of her mental illness.
I never understood why the mentally ill want to live on the street, when it is so dangerous. I heard that Estelle never told Ronnie she had cancer. Very sad.
Cantaba excelente , no me explico cómo pudo Phil Spector impedir que The Ronettes tuvieran más álbumes , pudieron haber sido mejores que The Supremes porque Stelle y Nedra también tenían excelente voz junto a Ronnie
Today is July 22nd. Thinking of dear Estelle on her birthday. Incidentally, another musical Bennett having links with Engelwood, NJ, Tony Bennett, died yesterday - I have just learned.
@@cocoaorange1 No relation at all. Tony's actual surname was Benedetto, which he anglicized to Bennett, as his stage name. Estelle and Ronnie's father was an Irish-American, whose first name, as I remember it, was Louis (I'm open to correction there).
@@yeahimagnethlover4201 It was a long time ago, but, if memory serves, this photo appeared in an article in "Fabulous" magazine (UK) recording the happenings on that tour. I remember the caption to this shot was something like, "Two Ronettes in typical pose - exhausted!" I had a copy of this magazine but my mother went and sold it amongst a lot of other valuable memorabilia from the early 60s. Another photo in the article showed the members of the various acts on this tour push starting Marty Wilde's car (a BMC 1100, I seem to remember).
Cilla's real name in Liverpool was Cilla White and she sang for the Beatles manager Brian Epstein who started her career but her voice was very distinctive this aint her!

I dunno, that's going a little overboard with the praise isn't it?

Sleep well and sweet dreams. We were graced by your presence.
Sweet picture of the two sisters.
Thoughtful song. Well, sung. performed and produced.
I believe I love Estelle the most out of the three of them.

She truly was sweet, kind, good spirit. She just needed help and understanding in life.
I’ve been craving estelle’s post-Ronettes songs😋 so beautiful❤
Yes, this is Estelle singing lead!
Can tell Stella was such a beautiful soul.
Very nice song, executed beautifully
Estelle...you did song so beautiful!! RIP 💖🙌😥
I luv this song. Never heard it before ❤
Thank you so much for sharing. There’s very little information online about this and I may have never found it without your upload!
this is lovely,, i didnt know she did this,,

Back in the mid to late 60's little was known about mental illness. I read she designed thei Ronettes outfits too. Very talented, and nice young lady.
Right Ronnie could have helped her get back in the business like she wanted
Maybe she felt her sister was too disturbed. I am sure she had regrets. She probably had her reasons.

Did you know her Estelle by any chance?

Incidentally, another musical Bennett having links with Engelwood, NJ, Tony Bennett, died yesterday - I have just learned.
I've been trying to find out where in Englewood NJ Estelle lived and died. Would you happen to know???
Was he a cousin or uncle?

Sexiest girl in RR in her day, no man could resist her looks , mannerisms or charming sincerity aside from her vocal ability.
Estelle on lead was great. She sounds like Melanie.
who's melanie ?
@@yeahimagnethlover4201 Melanie is a singer who was fairly popular in the 70's. She was kinda folk-pop-rock I guess.
@@yeahimagnethlover4201 Melanie Safka. Her most well-known songs are "Brand New Key" and "Candles in the Rain".
Melanie died earlier this year.
Each Ronette could hold their own as solo vocalists but Spector focused only on Ronnie…..
Just like when Berry Gordy focused only on Diana Ross when she was with the group.
Agreed ..
I read Florence had the better voice, but we all know why Diana was favored. Estelle was also a talented fashion designer.
@@cocoaorange1 diana ross had the most intriguing voice of the group which is why she was the lead singer
What is the meaning of this song?
Do you happen to where you found the first picture with Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett?
It was published in a NewsPaper for when the Rolling Stones toured with the Ronettes.
It's always cool to see rare pics.

Pretty sure I was chewed out by Ronnie back in 2009 for uploading this, and she claimed it was not Estelle. But I think it is.
What do you mean chewed out? What'd Ronnie say?
Your probably right.
I agree with Ronnie, think it’s a white British girl !
@@SuperBeachbum74 Estelle's daughter already said that Estelle used to sing this song to her so I think that confirms it's Estelle..
@@yeahimagnethlover4201 maybe to her but not on record. Ronnie would know her sisters voice ! If anyone.
