Who here still watches the WRC battles from time to time? It was a golden age when battle rap wasnt pussified yet and freestyling was still the main thing. Im in the process of downloading and archiving all of the WRC battles, or at least the good ones. It would be a shame if that footage was lost forever. Its a piece of history now.
I know this pod might not do similar numbers to the other ATB’s but I’m going to need a part 2 of this pod for my own selfish reasons. Been watching these two since 08, it’s great to hear the stories.
I battled for about 2 years and moved up to get on the same card as The Saurus. I watched him when I was a teenager and it was wild to meet him in person and have him know who I was. I retired soon after, mission accomplished.
Grew up watching Illmac and Saurus during the WRCs/Grindtime, dope to see them still competing at a high level. Salute to Hitch for the fire episode 🤘🏽
This is the best shit ever man!Never heard Illmac or Saurus talk this freely, and you did a an amazing job of third partying and asking good questions.
This is so ill....two of the best battlers...Illmac does put out insssssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane music...so a little more well rounded, but thesaurus is a f'n animal...one of the best to ever do it
Don’t know much about battle rap but I do know and love Eyedea. Grands Sixth Sense is one of the most stylish hip hop records of its time. So MPC and so fuckin RAW. Definitely got some homework to do on these guys. Thanks Hitch!
I wish i could find that clip of Pete playing online poker while freestyling about what hes doing. I saw it once and never could find it again. If anyone can post a link, i would appreciate it.
Even though, I'm not familiar with the battle rap scene. These guys passion and the way they talked about it kept me interested from start to finish! Top tier leading the convo from the 🐐 Hitch!
The best 2on2 team ever, with each participant being legendary and groundbreaking in the sport on their own too. This is about the best battle rap has to offer, in my opinion. GOAT(s) gets thrown around a lot these days, but with these guys it's actually true.
Hitch!the next video with these guys should be a freestyle cypher off the top. Something like that. But this episode is definitely the best and i wanna see you show your freestyle skill to them.
It’s so weird how i originally found battle rap because Cash Nasty was reacting to Conceited vs Charlie Clips on stream back in 2016 and just branched off from there. But to see gaming and battle rap actually overlap like Mike P has tried to bridge the two or now with this podcast makes me feel like im in the twilight zone lmao
@StrawHatPirates56 I've only seen a handful of episodes and really only started watching again when he had the Yard boys on I think. I've been a Sandpeople and Illmaculate fan for over 20 years, so seeing him and The Saurus on here right after them is wild to me.
1:06:32 a month later and Kendrick came out of it on top. Like just common consensus, not opinionated. Drake did amazing, but he got played BADLY. Kendrick played him like a violin, new all the angles he would use and just picked him apart. We got 100s of videos of people singing and dancing to Not Like Us.....a diss that is about drake being a pedophile. Like who would have thought?
IMO Kendrick got played like a violin but no one acknowledges it. Drake laid out the fake daughter thing and the ovo mole thing, discrediting two out of four of Kendrick’s diss tracks. Which begs the question, what else was Kendrick lying about? Then Kendrick came out with a banger and made everyone forget about that shit. Family matters bar for bar is a much better diss track than not like us as well, so many more disses, flows, angles, wordplay, rebuttals. Not like us has two angles, the pedophile shit which was addressed by Drake (and his so called victims) and the Atlanta thing which was fire and Kendrick’s only unique angle of the entire battle. Not to mention nobody including Kendrick himself mentions the domestic abuse allegations which is HUGE. Who would’ve thought that the so called hit maker rapper would’ve made the better diss track and the so called hip hop artist would make the better banger.
🐐🐐
The fact that Illmac and The Saurus don’t host a podcast together is a shame.
Imagine if they did a battle rap history podcast. Bring in ogs to battle rap and have them explain in detail their history with battle rap
Ruin your day usually has illmac on, thesaurus goes on there too on occasion
@@jakes9519 yeah and I definitely enjoy that too but a story format deep dive like this would be great
Just saying, "Two Time Podcast w/ illmac and TheSaurus" sounds incredible lol
The WRP lmao
No way Hitch got two of the GOATS. This is next level. ILLMAC is him.
Who here still watches the WRC battles from time to time?

2 LEGENDS of battle rap
I know this pod might not do similar numbers to the other ATB’s but I’m going to need a part 2 of this pod for my own selfish reasons.
Been watching these two since 08, it’s great to hear the stories.
For sure we need that

dude their 2v2 jumpoff battles are legendary. I cant believe you got these 2.
This is the best shit ever man!Never heard Illmac or Saurus talk this freely, and you did a an amazing job of third partying and asking good questions.
These two guys are so important to battle culture. They're foundational.
Bro can’t believe I never knew you had thesaurus and mac on here. This is so sick
We've needed this interview for literal YEARS. Thank u
Such a dope pod! ILL mentioning Vakill was wild. Haven't heard that name in a hot minute.
Ayo battle rap, we up!
Shoutout Saurus and Illmac!!! Two GOATS of the culture!
Yooooo good thing I went through the video history, who would've known The Saurus n Illmac were gonna be on this podcast. Wudufuuuu, respect!
2 of my favourite battlers, seem like top lads as well.
This is so ill....two of the best battlers...Illmac does put out insssssaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane music...so a little more well rounded, but thesaurus is a f'n animal...one of the best to ever do it
This was the best! I want more of them on podcasts
Don’t know much about battle rap but I do know and love Eyedea. Grands Sixth Sense is one of the most stylish hip hop records of its time. So MPC and so fuckin RAW. Definitely got some homework to do on these guys. Thanks Hitch!
This was so natural and easy to listen to that the time went by and i realized i already 75% of it😅😅 Saurus and illmac legends!🔥
As a longtime fan of battle rap this was such a fire watch! Great chemistry and setting, props on getting both of these legends
one of the best so far!! more of this !!
Great interview, legends!
I wish i could find that clip of Pete playing online poker while freestyling about what hes doing. I saw it once and never could find it again. If anyone can post a link, i would appreciate it.
these guys need a podcast ASAP. both super intelligent - always forget how well spoken Saurus is
Love how they touched on the Freestyle crutch words/phrases.. its the ONE giveaway that can truly prove a flow as freestyle.. all i know is that
dope! this really took me back.
This is incredible
GREAT interview!
Perfect guys to have on for a podcast referencing bars 🔥
These 2 dont get enough respect for adapting through each generation of battlerap and remaining top tier to this day
Man, this was just incredible. The word legend gets used way too much but these two are certified.
Such a great and easy listen. Huge fan of battle rap. Would really like some more battle rap guests.
no fucking way. grew up on sandpeople/illmac and found optic later. this colab is wild. hitch you a goat
Even though, I'm not familiar with the battle rap scene. These guys passion and the way they talked about it kept me interested from start to finish! Top tier leading the convo from the 🐐 Hitch!
Bro we got melee players and battle rap on the same podcast? What a beautiful intersection of taste.
The intelligence of Diz is ridiculous
I remember when illmac came back after winning his first shift came back to Roosevelt what is chain talking about how he's the battle rap champ
The best 2on2 team ever, with each participant being legendary and groundbreaking in the sport on their own too. This is about the best battle rap has to offer, in my opinion. GOAT(s) gets thrown around a lot these days, but with these guys it's actually true.
Great interview 😂😂👍🏽
I could have listened to two more hours of this
Shout-out Eyedea. R Eye P
Sheesh what a crazy moment for hitch 😮
When esem is on he’s nice asf
They even talked in bars and rhythm. Insane 🤯
You have to try to get Harry Mack on one of these!
I'll just say that battle rap, as a format and a genre isn't the same as a rap beef where the diss track is the main format.
how tf did i miss this one??? Dope af
illmac and the saurus hell yeah
Wild I remember being at Scribble when Illmac beat Swann
Killers of the Mic!!
I LOVE THIS!! YES, ALL CAPS.
I still wanna see a Mac n diz three rounder nowadays
Hitch!the next video with these guys should be a freestyle cypher off the top. Something like that. But this episode is definitely the best and i wanna see you show your freestyle skill to them.
Wonder how illmac chooses what fingers to put his rings on each day
I’m 10 minutes in. This is the best episode by far!🔥🔥🔥🔥

Goats
Mac's canibus verse was fire lol
Need that lush episode lol
Gregory Poe, and Rod used to hang out at my house, and drug me to sandpeople shows.
Drake might get battle rap, but can't get a diss track. While Kendrick knows how to make a diss track.
Canabis has a crazy verse with Lost Boyz
Beasts from the East woooooooo
Gordon Ramsay?
Gore and frenzy
Bruh I legit thought this was they podcast
Goats 🐐🐐🐐
I see you drinking straight OJ hitch 👀🤣
This is dope as fuck
The lack of respect for Canibus is sad. Theyll give people credit for contribution to pushing the art forward and then shit on Canibus.
Okay my bad toward the end they showed some love 😂. People are missing out if they havent heard FWTBT
Damn I seen somebody comment Carter deems cooked Illmac I totally forgot about that battle that’s wild
lol i usually hate when ill loses i cant handle it lmao bt carter deems one was absolutely hilarious
@@RedResevoir that shit was a gem for the ages lol glad I was around then
Thesaurus' mother
DRAKE STILL LOST
This is fucking awesome lmao
Lol I think this is before euphoria dropped
'None of them want smoke with Drake'... boy that quote aged terribly.
This is a crossover I didn't expect and that idk how I missed? Wtf
you didnt expect this? the host is a huge fan of battle rap, you should check out his interview with mike p👍
