In November 2019 the Rokon cost between $6975 to $8575 depending on the model. Why SO EXPENSIVE?
    Scout... $6975
    Trail Breaker... $7775
    Trail-Breaker Hunter edition... $8075
    Mototractor... $8395
    Ranger... $8575
    Trail-Breaker Prepper edition... $8575
The Kohler engine is a Honda design that is manufacture in China since 2007. Its not American made. The Harbor freight Predator engine is the same thing and cost $100
Very cool bike, but way too much $$$

Yup, they are stupidly over-priced. Zero comfort, they don't even attempt to be upscale............except in price, which is 100% unjustified. They'd sell a million times more if they were realistically priced.

I was visiting the sperm bank six times a day, and giving blood as much as the law allows and sold myself to science trying to get enough money together to buy one of those. But wouldn't you know it, raccoons decided to chew through the gas tank on my house and it burnt to the ground! Seven years of hard physical savings gone in an instant. I had to buy a newer van (1991) to live in. Now because of the horrible wrist fatigue, the rokon is only a dream :( Rokon, please make a bike the common man can afford!!

@Thystaff Thywill That's no kidding! I have two olderRokon's. A 1966, and a 1972. Neat concept. Its fun to get the old ones running. Worth the price they were charging for them BACK THEN. It was still a piece of change. The price on the new ones are absolutely ridiculous. A two wheel drive design like Rokon offers now should be in the $3800 to $4000 range TOPS! For that price you should get a fully loaded, all the bells and whistles version. As a matter of fact, There should only be one model with one price. It doesn't even have a real motorcycle engine. A reverse would be handy too. The front suspension fork system is a fruity looking design and not worth the $575.

I was really excited to see that Rokon has a new STREET LEGAL version of the 2WD cycle. They are calling it the Ranger, and as long as you don't live in the People's Repubik of Kalifornsky, you can license it on the street, yet it's still a 2WD Rokon with hollow aluminum wheels.

In BC, canada, it's law to have my quad registered, plates, insured(if you want any protection), and wear a helmet and have a valid driver's licence, and that's just to be legal to ride it offroad. It's 100% illegal to ride on streets. Yet, people can zip around on all the city streets on their scooters, uninsured, no plates or anything safety, no driver's licence, and often the riders are all medicated. And they follow NO rules of the road, riding on sidewalks, in traffic, cutting across traffic anywhere, and that's all legal. Complete government idiocy.

@@zzz7zzz9 I live in a small town in the Rockies, in lots of little towns here in the Intermountain West (Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming) it's legal to drive the 4 wheel UTVs (Polaris Ranger and RZR, Yamaha Viking and Wolverine, Honda Talon, Can-Am Maverick and other brands like Mahinda, Bighorn, Massimo, and Tracker on the streets around town, the only restriction is that if an Interstate Highway goes through town you're not allowed to enter, and if a major highway is near you can cross as long as it's clear, but you can't drive a UTV down a highway with a speedlimit above 65.

I'm a hiker and want to get involved with Rokons or even build my own version of it. As a hiker I have a mindset of moving from point A to point B efficiently, in absence of roads ofcourse.
But these guys are different - just as 4x4 offroaders they like spot challenges. So I wonder, are Rokons just a subspecies of your regular 4x4, or is it more a friend to a traveler who wants to use Rokon to cover more distance on bike rather then just on foot.

Grew up in the foothills of Denver. Before owning my own Hodaka Ace a guy loaded up a few vans with 12hp Tote-goats. He made you sign a form and rented them out at $5.00 an hour. That's where my allowances went! If you would shag guys who ran out of gas you would get an hour free. I'm 61 years young, 6'4" 250 lbs. and I'm sure the Rokon would handle that and more. I've known about this two wheel drive some 40+ years! If this is a regular event, I could schedule a visit to some old friends near by.

      HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE ROKON™
Here it is from the horses mouth. The following letter was posted to the Rokon World Message Board Forum by Orla Larsen, the founder of Rokon™.
Orla 5:35 PM Friday January 22, 1999 To my buddy SYCO:
"When starting the new company to build the TBs I wanted to get a catchy name like Radar or similar, spelled the same front or back. I had been a professional skier in Canada and had the opportunity to come to the US and start a new ski area in Vermont, We called it Mt. Snow (actually it was named after the owner of the land-Reuben Snow) after getting the ski area going, (I was the general manager and also ski school director) and it became VERY successful, I built a lodge to cater to the winter and summer business. During the excavation for the main building, the gentleman that we bought the land from came by to have a look at what we were doing. There were piles of rocks heaped all over the place from the excavation, and the original land owner said (man this place is really on the rocks) so that is what we named our lodge. When I was looking for a name for the new TB company I bastardized On The Rocks to ROCKON, but it did not look good in print, so I changed it to ROKON and that is how it all got started. Sorry about temporally impaired people that pronounce it ROWKON, but then the good lord told us to be tolerant!! "

cut the retail price in half new 2016 desings no major changes a better seat whoopee and a mount for your smart phone whoopee. No offense to anyone in the vids but It looks like a bunch of overweight tall men riding these things. I for one am 51 years old male olnly 5 foot 3 inches tall, how the heck am I going to ride one using the feet pedal thingy. I Love the idea and will probably get one learn to ride it my SHORT way. MESSAGE TO ROKON cut the price in half and sell sell sell. I believe they worth it but only at 1/2 msrp.

Cutting the price in half would probably mean cutting down on quality.

These bikes are insanely over-priced. They should be $1000, tops.

@Don Olypopper they are over-priced for what little they offer. They are simple and basic, no suspension, uncomfortable, no luxuries, yet a price that gets you all that and more in machines that are vastly more capable.

@Don Olypopper you defend them like you own shares. Why on earth do people prefer to over-pay for things.

@Don Olypopper no, i own bikes, and this thing is ridiculously over-priced. It's a cool machine, OTHER than it's inflated price. Yes, you are correct, lots of china-made stuff is cheap crap. This isn't, it's clearly well-built. But, i do hate things that are over-priced to maximize a greedy profit, and this is. And, isn't it's motor "non-american"? There's lots of things out there that are 'assembled' in america and then advertised as being american, but they are made in china. Some things that i always viewed as 'cheap chinese crap' has actually very much surprised and impressed me.

Aussie Chip No they are what you buy when you want all around traction. Still operates the same as riding a dirt bike. Except the Rokon is 2WD.
