漫画とか小説を読んでいて終わりに近づくと、
「ああ、終わってしまわないで」「まだこの人たちの人生を見ていたい」って
すごく名残惜しくて心がざわざわするんだけど、
この4分35秒っていう短い1曲でもそんな感覚がずっとあって、
すごくドキドキした。フルで聴けて良かった。
めっちゃ分かります。読み終わってしまった時に、さっきまで登場人物たちと一緒にいたようなふわふわした感覚が残るかんじ…。
私はタイ人で、彼の曲はすべて聴くのが好きです。これからも仕事を出していきたいと思っています。

このMVの中でのメイド姿の彼は、彼自身の憧憬だったんだろう。
窓の外の街の灯りをただ眺めるところから始まって、
0:56の1つ目のサビで、まず彼は憧れの君と向き合う。
この時の彼はどうにも浮かない顔をしていて、見つめるその目もあまり肯定的には思えない。
それでも「君がここにいたならきっと何もないんだと笑ってしまうんだろう」って歌詞からは、
そんな軽く笑って済ましている憧れの君を羨んでいるように思える。
奥に見える黄色信号は、憧れの君を前に、抑えていた欲望が少し制御できなくなってることを告げている。
中盤は序盤に比べて窓の外に少し彩りが見える。
「君の歌は止まった」そして「あまりにも脆くて、壊れそうだ」
少しずつ彼の中で何かが変わっているのがわかる。
2:18の2つ目のサビで、彼はついに手を引かれてしまった。
エスカレーターを上がって明るみへと導く憧れの君。
彼はもう憧れの君に夢中になっている。制御できなくなっていってる。
最後のサビ前には、ただただ彷徨う彼らの姿。
いつの日か窓の外にあった眩むような街の灯りも、今は目の前にある。
それでもこの時間は永遠ではなくて、憧れの君はもう「行かなくちゃ」いけない。
彼は彼自身で歩いて行かないといけない、「傷を負ってまでも」。
3:27でラストのサビに入る。彼はやっと憧れの君を受け入れた。
横並びになって、抱き合って、踊っている。
憧れの君が見せていた笑顔で、彼も笑えている。
3:59で彼にやっと朝が訪れる。彼自身が進むことができたから。
悲しみからも痛みからも解放されたわけじゃないけれど、
それすらも受け入れて歩いていくことを彼は決めた。
別の方のコメントで、金木製の花言葉には「真実」「陶酔」「初恋」があるとあったけれど、
「初恋(のような憧れの君)」に「陶酔」しきっていた彼が、
綺麗ごとだけじゃないこの世界の「真実」と向き合う。
そして大きな一歩を踏み出すその瞬間に立ち会えたように感じた。
彼の笑顔の後ろに広がる金木犀色の朝焼けが、なんだかすごく輝かしく見えました。
金木犀の香りを嗅ぐたびに、私は彼とこの曲を思い出すんだろうと思いました。

This song could be about an obsession with loving someone so deeply that you ignore everything else including that person's flaws.
-3:53 We see that there are a lot of objects in the orange water which could represent him throwing away his life for this person.
-3:09 "Wander and get lost" could mean that if you hang around with this person for long enough, you'll end up falling into their labyrinth.
-3:21 There's a line before this that says "Even if it's painful I have to go." If we connect it with "Towards the voice" and the picture in the background of him holding hands with the other person, we can assume the voice is that other person, and that person is leading them to his doom.
To me, this seems like a story where one person, who had a painful life, found someone who was kind to them during their darkest times and became obsessive.
BUT this first theory is probably wrong because of the line at 0:52 "If you were here I would smile as if nothing happened."
It could also just be self-acceptance.
-1:00 He said at 2 AM. 2:18 He said 2 AM again. but 3:27 he said at 2 PM. This along with the fact that the person in the maid outfit guided him towards light (which I'm assuming is the real world) could mean that he had finally accepted himself and can portray it to the world without care.
-3:50 There are various objects in the background that could represent the man in pjs' life outside of the dreamworld (since he constantly says it's painful and messes = up a messed up life), so this indicates that he is close to leaving the dreamworld and into the real world. Since he is hugging the person in the maid outfit here, this could be where he has finally learned to accept himself for who he is.
- 4:09 The background is just the man in pjs and that's where the song ends. I'm guessing the reason why the person in the maid outfit didn't appear was that they combined.
This song is so amazing that it captured my attention to write two whole theories about it lol
I love reading theories! I have a theory too- briefly, that this person is someone who represents "the person the main character of the mv wants to be". I'll just call him 'mc / main character ' and the other person as 'maid' for convenience.
basically 'maid' is confident, happy, and someone who can help out mc during his darkest times- but also, 'maid' is more of an ideal who isn't real than a person. In the first stanza of the song, the lyrics go "sirens outside and the (echo of) your song" which means "maid" was present to be there for mc. But in the second stanza, 'maid' wasn't there and their song wasn't either along with the sirens- and 'mc' slowly broke down.
I see it as mc's journey of seeing 'maid' as someone who he could derive strength from- only to start breaking down when they grew older (? or perhaps just time passed) and mc struggled with dealing with the fact that 'maid' was just an ideal. In the end, 'mc' embraced the fact that he'd much rather have 'maid' than all the mundane things that _are_ real, because reality didn't give him happiness. The things strewn about at 3:53, to me, symbolize a mundane, boring reality. 'maid' was mc's escape and coping mechanism for those things, and when he's with 'maid' the boring real stuff drowns in orange goop because it couldn't matter less.
3:09 this exact line translates as: (Sagashite, samayotte kowaretemo // Kamawanai to ieru hodo ni) _Even if I break after searching and wandering (for your shadow) I still wouldn't stop_ which seems to suggest that he's essentially grabbing for air, but mc won't stop because there's nothing he wants to do more than chase his ideal.
0:52 This translation is actually vague on pronouns: it can actually read "If you were here, _you_ would probably smile and say 'it's nothing'"
Which could tie into 'maid' being someone who wasn't easily hurt and smiling a lot, hence giving strength to the mc who was weaker emotionally and making mc latch onto 'maid' for support.
3:27 your theory for this bit is cool, but this was a typo- it's 2 AM (2時) throughout).
If you like what this song represents, I recommend you read the webnovel called 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint'! This song captures the abstract essence of that story's two main characters so so perfectly, and I'm literally in love with the story it might be the best thing I've read and ever will read

What would the sirens represent though? They are typically portrayed as a bad sign but it seems like the sirens combined with the maid's song relaxes/saves him. Could the sirens be the confidence the maid has that inflicts onto him whenever they're around?
The one thing that I could not figure out is at 1:02 - 1:11 . "Your word makes my heart upset" could represent the helpful words that maid told the mc but I'm not sure

I can clear up the 1:02 - 1:11 bit real quick: this part's a mistranslation. The lyrics go ( _Anata no kotoba ni kokoro ga yuraide / Your words sway my heart_ ) which means that mc is heavily influenced by the words of 'maid'- which can be taken both positively and negatively ig
This next part's gonna get a bit long (oops), but to clarify the thing about sirens- in Japan, the western idea of sirens / siren songs hasn't caught on that much. 'Siren' is a borrowed english word, that actually indicates "sirens" or "the cacophony of sirens" (because Japanese doesn't always need to use plurals). Hearing 'the distant siren(s)' is symbolic of hearing proof that the world is an unsafe and unkind place where crimes happen. The song of 'maid' accompanying the sirens (like in the first stanza) shows how 'maid' helps ease the pain of having to live in a world like that.
In the second stanza where 'maid's song' has stopped, mc goes on to say that his ears are ringing non-stop, he's about to break down, and how things wouldn't have become this way if they were together. This makes me think that 'song' isn't really "the sound of someone singing" but rather song=presence. Usually when you see [insert japanese character's name]'s song, or '[x character] no uta', it's a song of identity.
btw, so happy to meet a fellow orv reader!! the story's only going to get better and better, and I've never seen a story that goes from great to greater with re-reading more than this one : )

After rewatching the mv a few times, I've noticed at 1:57-2:02 when the mc says "The sirens in the distance and your song have stopped" the senery outside overfills with orange and bursts open the window. I've been thinking what it means since the perspective is that we/mc is inside of a house looking outside.
At 2:55 when maid is pulling mc to another location, maid, and the hand that's holding the mc's, is the only one covered in orange light.
A few seconds later, we see that the buildings' windows are all orange.
If the "sirens" in the lyrics relate to how terrible the mc's life is outside, why is the maid covered in orange light and so is the outside?
I've also noticed that the traffic lights were all stopped at yellow, but I'm not sure if that means anything other than the color yellow/orange is important.
I might just be overthinking this but I really hope it made sense!

@@flyobyetrungonna butt into the convo for just a second and pitch my theory about the yellow lights/ orange colors; in traffic light terms, you’d usually depict it as a signal to begin to start moving. But if following the theories you’ve already laid out, it can also go the other way; it could be a signal to slow down. This double meaning kinda leads me to thinking that at the beginning of the mv the mc is either feeling complacent in his situation, or his heart is stuck between a the two options of either going back to the maid or going to the outside world. That’s why everything seems coated in yellows. Then as the mv progresses more oranges are introduced. twilight/sunset is sort of a time of its own- people usually like to use it as a metaphor for the ‘end’ of something. All of the objects towards 3:50 are drowning in orange. This could signify that mc is letting go of the real world and is metaphorically ‘ending’ his connection with it. Since the whole thing is happening within the hour of 2am(?) (seems pretty dark to me), I’m just taking some creative liberties.

Notori has an ethereal voice and it seems like they really delved into that deeper range a little more in this to contrast against the highs in the chorus, like two selves having to coexist. @@Lianzu__ Yes that's something I also really love about these songs 😭 Plus sometimes they can have such distinct meanings behind them (like especially his recent song fool's table, the concept is so incredibly unique and specific touching a certain social issue). Always so interesting to go deeper into them and overall just knowing the story.
