After learning Neon on this channel, Who Says on this channel, Stop this train, Why Georgia, my most used fingerstyle percussion pattern from this channel, I can safely say, this is the most underrated UA-cam channel in 2021.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. More Mayer coming soon!
@UC05zX_k72BeiMCV-iUwyV4Q Thanks for your interest. It depends on your prior experience I suppose. If your fingerpicking needs work you may want to do the beginner/intermediate courses first. Having said that it's not a strict prerequisite at all and if you really want to arrange then you can jump straight into that course. Let me know if I can help you any further. Thanks again
@@SixStringFingerpicking Thanks a lot! I accidentally deleted the previous comment. I'll go for the 6th course straight and see from there! Thanks a lot for everything you do for us guitarists on UA-cam!
@@whitewalker608 Thanks a lot, I really appreciate all of your support.
Harry Nilsson is one of my all time favourite artists, and this song brings me such a deep joy in my heart. Thank you for your positive contribution to the world with this channel. I originally stumbled across your video when learning Embryonic Journey (I'm half way through thanks to you), and upon scrolling the comments I saw somebody request this song, and lo and behold here it is. Thank you for your kindness.
Thanks a lot Lewis, really pleased you’ve found my channel
Thanks Chris great lesson, it’s freaky you always manage to upload tutorials a day or so after I listen to one I’d like to learn - please keep up that sixth sense!
You're welcome. Haha, my guitary senses are tingling.
Excellent tutorial. Only accurate one on UA-cam. Thanks very much for taking the time to make it. 👍👍👍
Thanks Craig, glad you liked it
Yeah! It is a tough one, isn't it, I've loved the song for years but had to look up videos for a clue where to start, this is awesome, thanks
Love the new lesson, man you've been on fire lately ... it's very enjoyable learning from you, thanks!
Thanks a lot John, glad you like it!
Cheers Chris, awesome tutorial as always mate 👍
Thanks Murray
Parabéns pela bela aula desse grande sucesso! Um grande abraço aqui do Brasil.
Great walkthrough I was always mesmorised by the guitar picking the capo makes it with key change..thank you..
Really good enjoyable lesson, furthers my fingerpicking ability, particularly developing my finger flexibility moving from C7 to C6/G (aka Am/G). Thanks for this one, and I am looking forward to more.
Another great lesson. Thanks. Love you're style and technique.
Thanks a lot Larry, appreciate it
Thank you very much wonderful Instructions to learn this song
Great lesson on this song Chris! Really great fun to play when you get it down 👍
Cheers Charlie, it's pretty tricky at first but as you say it becomes really fun after a while.
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you, you're very welcome
I think this is easier to play with capo at 2 and start on a D chord. Sequence feel more like what would have been done on the record. This is really good though, thanks.
Thanks for the tutorial cheers
The only accurate tutorial on YT thank you.
Glad it helped!
Chorus is at 7:10
Thank you for making this video!!
Very welcome
I think there are two guitars on the recording (both played by Al Casey) and trying to play the lick on one guitar you'll never get it exactly right. On the intro I can clearly hear one guitar slightly right and the other slightly left. The one slightly right (using note names as if we were in C, not E) seems to be playing C-E-G, G-E-G, (starting on the 5th string) the rhythm being eighth-eighth-quarter, eighth-eighth-quarter, while the one slightly left is handling the upper notes of the lick, the C-E-C-B-B stuff. If the G sounding on the 2nd beat (being played on the guitar slightly right) were being played on the same guitar as the one playing the first B, that you've got on beat 2+ on the 3rd string, then the G (also on the 3rd string) would be cut off, and it isnt. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, it's a great record, and a great lick. (There's also supposed to be a banjo in there somewhere, just to confuse matters further. Haha.)
Top stuff, mate. Very helpful
Cheers, you're welcome
I’m walkin here! I’m walkin!
thank you sir well done
You're very welcome
you deserve a yes
Amazing as always! Can you do Swing Life Away or Everchanging by Rise against?
Hey bro thanks for the awesome vids. Don't know if you do requests but John mayer did a live acoustic version of slow dancing in a burning room, earlier this year(a jam in place concert) it would be a cool vid if you could work that out.
You're very welcome. I'm sure at some point I'll do that song, I've had a lot of requests for it.
@@SixStringFingerpicking that would be awesome. Your lesson for neon is awesome. Helped me alot.
Hello Chris Great lesson as always. One small question re. "Everybody's Talkin'". At the beginning where you switch to a Cmag7, holding down g 4th fret, why not play b open and hammer-on as and where appropriate? I hardly dare ask this question of a maestro, just a thought ...
Hi Philip, you can try it like that if you want to. I think this way is good because the B note can sustain through the Cmaj7 chord. Hope that makes sense
Thanks 😘🇸🇪❤️
Thank you! The picking sounds just like the song. My poor fingers spaz out if I try to go faster than they can manage :-). They are in fingerpicking bootcamp!
Does this song have to be played using fingerpicking? That certainly
leaves out quite a few guitar players. A LOT !! The chord progression
is tricky as it is. Unfortunately, Harry made it so most players can't
play it on guitar. It's an excellent tune too.
Permanent fan
You’ve invested in a Martin OM..?
Very nice.
The intro reminds me of “Gentle on my mind”
A sinker..? That’s a new one on me.
Gentle On My Mind is a great song. Yes a 000 Sinker, plays like butter.
Easier tuning the B string in A
FALTOU VOCE TOCAR A MUSICA TODA
This doesn’t sound quite right to me it’s close but not right also it’s faster
Your going too fast and confusing What could otherwise be a great lesson if you were slow down and explain clearly the fingering and the picking pattern
Sorry you feel that way, I try my best. Your too fast is somebody else's too slow.
Actually found it very clear myself. Is a very tricky little song Bill. Certainly not a standard alternate thumb pattern. Been fingerpicking for over 25 years and this one once I get it will be a whole new level. Thanks very much for the lesson, very accurate and conveys the push feel of the song really well. Three thumbs up.
Hm, you copied Yulo's Music tutorial almost verbatim. At least use different wording to explain ideas next time.
