I am an old Sox fan an last season was very enjoyable with the young players.i think a good front line pitcher an a few good closer type is what they need an think they cab compete with any team.
They don't need Soto. They could sign Hernandez. And if they miss out on both, they could get Haniger and Garver from the M's for peanuts at the most, because the M's just want to rid themselves of those contracts. Those are a couple guys who could benefit from the Monster. They could get Suarez (another guy who would benefit from the Monster) from Arizona to play third and move Devers to DH. They could get Castillo and Montgomery for the rotation. And they would not have to trade any of their top 4 prospects to do these deals.
blah, blah, blah. Full throttle my arse. They will offer Soto just enough that they know he will turn it down. And they can say we were "in on him" They will settle on some B level FA's because that's all they can get now. If they want front line talent they need to overpay. It's their own fault Boston is not a destination anymore.

There’s a good chance cause him and his family are very close with David Ortiz.
Ortiz says there is a great chance he signs with Boston
@@alesitercrimson24I agree

His father is a Yankees fan and hates the Red Sox I don't think he would sign with them and upset his father.
Ortiz is his great friend and mentor. So I dont think a fathers favorite team matters
They won't land Soto
