Been making my way through my first dungeon...and at first I thought the game was too easy. As I kept going from 1 section to the next with very little resistance. The couple of fights I had with vermin and minions were nothing.
Then I ran into my first boss...It really wasn't too bad...but my party did take several hits.
Then I had to start back tracking through the dungeon to seek out an open path...and man! I was running into wondering monsters all over the place...including 1 boss and 1 weird monster! lol...my dwarf was down to 1 life...my barbarian down to 2 and my wizard and cleric were both knocked around a bit too. Thank goodness for my cleric's heal ability...but now I'm just down to 1 and who knows when I'll finally get to the final boss...and lord knows with my luck, it's going to be one heck of a battled to slog my way back out of the dungeon!
My cleric and wizard have gained a level though, my wizard has some lightning bolts (2 damage to a boss) at the ready, my dwarf is decked out in all sorts of jewels he can't wait to sell...and...well darn! I'm greatly enjoying this!! lol
So...Medusa happened.

3 of my 4 party members got turned to stone before the fight even began! How lucky is it that the 1 character not turned to stone...was my cleric with all 3 blessings at the ready?
He also had a scroll of sleep though. So I used my first turn attempting to put the Medusa to sleep. Miss! Dodged Medusa's first attack, and took 1 damage from her second.
So I tried to cast blessing on my wizard as my wizard had a couple of lightning bolts and could possibly deal 2 damage per attack to the Medusa.
Miss!
Grrr...take 2 damage from Medusa. My cleric is down to 1 life. No heals left. No potions.
Cast my second blessing on my wizard.
MISS! Omg >:(
Medusa's next 2 attacks miss me! /phew!
Cast my final blessing...
SUCCESS!! My wizard is back in the thick of things!
...Medusa then kills off my cleric and hits my wizard for 1 damage. My wizard is at 1 life.
Next couple of turns I'm able to take down Medusa, dodging off all her attacks.
...but now my wizard is at 1 life, no spells, no potions...and I have to backtrack through 6 sections to make my escape and live to tell my tale!
...2 rooms in, and I run into 8 wandering goblin hoodlums.
Even if I was able to attack first...I'd be rolling at -2 attack (I was holding the lanturn and had no weapons! >.
@@twitchster77 THREE FULL YEARS after you wrote this… I’m reading it & shall pass on all the details of your Party’s desperate battle against the odds, which ended with their sad demise… 🥺😢 Rest assured, I shall relate your well told tale to our local Tavern Bard… A worthy fellow with a fine voice, whose nimble fingers have travelled many a league up & down the neck of his melodious Lute… He shall set your tale to music & regale the Tavern’s appreciative patrons with it. ‘Tis a Tragic Tale, to be sure - & one that’s worthy of a Song….. I shall even suggest to him, a fitting title for that Song: “FOUR AGAINST DARKNESS.” 😔

Just finished my first dungeon! Thank you for these videos, they really helped me with more than a few of the rules!
My party fared pretty well throughout, although I missed the rule about 'once you have opened all doors in the dungeon, the next room is the final boss room' and I trailed my party back and forth, fighting the wandering monsters for far too long, eventually deciding to nominate a chosen room as a 'final boss room' - entirely my bad for not reading the book!!
One thing I'm not sure about is how many spells a wizard may cast in an adventure.

I believe the curse thing it's only once because if it would be a beneficial effect you could just re-enter the same room over and over to get multiple blessings for example.
I'm looking forward to seeing you cover some of the supplements and adventure modules for this game - you've got a great style and I'm really enjoying watching you play.

You shouldn't have the two bosses count as being subdued in a non-violent manner. The quest specifically states that you need to tie them up with rope (which you don't have) after you Sleep them. The reason that Bosses are defeated upon being Sleeped, is because it's assumed you deliver the Coup De Grace after they are asleep, killing them. That's what the rope is for...subduing them after they are asleep, instead of the assumed killing blow.
The rogue started the game with rope, it's part of his standard starting gear. I should have stated the use of the rope in my video, I apologize for the oversight on my part. Thank you for pointing this out.

I do not own the game but wil be getting it. My question is, isn't the first "Room" with a Cursed Altar actually a Corridor so there would be no Altar, right?
Dude, corridors don't restrict how many creatures you can kill in one shot. Andrea has confirmed this.
The cursed altar should act like the fountain, only the first encountered has any effect, all others have no effect positive or negative.
Do the morale checks only occur once per enemy group? I thought for sure that lone goblin was gonna high-tail it....
30:00 it's more efficient to just draw a 1 for each damage on hero, so you don't have to erase so much.
Good suggestion, but I like the act of erasing the health, makes me feel like it's going away and it makes me want to try harder to avoid damage :-)
Have you redone the videos with newer production? If not I love these games have you similar solo rpg vids
Has this been answered in previous videos? When drawing a room that doesn't fit, can you not make it a sunken room, that actually ramps down under the above room/corridor? I ordered this adventure (and volume 2 & 3), which have not arrived yet, but it is something I have been thinking about. Also, given the limited space, are you limited to the dimensions or couldn't you extend the map to include a room that goes off the grid?
Great questions! There is nothing in the rules that "allows" for sunken rooms but the game is also very flexible and easily open to "house rules." As long as you are consistent with you dungeon building, I would give the sunken rooms a go. Let me know how they work out for you. Also, the grid size is a suggestion for keeping the gameplay to under an hour, but you can make your dungeon as large as you like :-)
I put the 4AD game on my wishlist, found the shipping from lulu (the netherlands) reasonable enough, but decided I need to play ODD first.
Unarmed combat is at -2. :)

I'm not sure if I am keeping up with levels. Are you spreading out EXP Level rolls evenly?
You should spread them out evenly but I believe I made an error during this first series of FAD.

Fighting with your hands/feet is a -2 penalty

Were these Orcs wandering monsters? If so wandering monsters do not have treasure.
