The thing is crafting and placing torches wastes time, so he has his brightness to max to still be able to see the blocks as a tradeoff for more mining ability.
The I win is by building a house of furnaces nobody can get inside
Jordan incase you didn't know, the damage indicators mod is an unapproved mod for the tournament and can disqualify your whole team so I would remove the mod if I were you.

in bridges for mineplex, when the island that you are in has water you wont die from it and if you right click with your pickaxe that is made of ores like a gold one, iron one, or a diamond one you get free diamonds
