  • (Grace is Gone)The Lillywhite Sessions (LWS) is a collection of songs recorded by Dave Matthews Band in 1999 and 2000 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. The songs, recorded by the band as a follow-up to their 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets, were ultimately scrapped by the band. This is frequently attributed to pressure from RCA executives to wrap up the sessions and release an overdue (per contract), upbeat album (the LWS were considered on the darker side by RCA).[by whom?] Upon abandoning the album-in-progress, Dave Matthews was assigned to work with producer Glen Ballard who, in association with Matthews, wrote the album Everyday in just ten days. This contrasted with the band's prior style of writing, which included significant collaboration between the band members in the studio. The recordings later emerged on the internet shortly after the release of Everyday, and created controversy among fans as well as the music industry, which was early in its campaign to curb illegal file downloads. The Lillywhite Sessions were never released.

I like the drums more in the lillywhite one. also i find the BS one kinda has a country twang to it with the violins that I'm not as much a fan of. This one's a littler darker

@13skinsfan69 Wow, four months ago. I don't care, though, I'm going to reply anyway :)
I used to listen to this album (and this track in particular) over and over. Literally, constantly. There's something about this tune that just hits me, and I don't even drink.
Regular clients would get in the car (I drove a cab) and they'd say, "You're listening to this AGAIN?" Hell, I never stopped :D

becoming one of my many DMB favs. I have recently started digging around for more of his music that I haven't heard and I am wondering which other previously unreleased songs do you all like? The more I hear the more I like :)
