@@pavle988 Well I must admit this video was a bit hard to understand at times. I really appreciate the effort these videos. But if your english is not flawless as a videomaker, I think it's better to take a little more time. I rewinded the first part 5 times and I still don't know what meter he means. Edit: This is by no means a burn, this video was awesome as are the others
Can I just say, I reeeeally appreciate you going straight into the tips. No long winded intro, no asking for likes right off the bat. My first video of yours and that right there earned a subscription. Cheers !
A good way to preview kicks in context of the track (or any samples like hats etc) is just put them all in a drum rack with a looped 4/4 pattern in the midi clip and use the up/down cursor keys to pitch up/down the notes s so you can audition the entire sample pack all to find one that fits..... I did this today using your smooth kick pack. Man that saved me so much time. I must have spent about 4 hours trying to tune a rumble kick made from a bad kick and I just couldn't get it right, neither the kick or the rumble were responding to the tuner at all. Was absolutely doing my head in. Now it sounds better than ever! Thanks a lot dude. Love your videos!
Definitely! Putting them into a drum rack and changing midi works as well. And thank you for purchasing the smooth kick pack and hope it helps you with your productions. Al the best Jack! 😊❤
I record takes, put them privately on SoundCloud and listen to them a day later on my computer, phone, any device that can play it, really. The fact you're hearing a track away from the DAW interface helps to hear what is wrong or identify quickly what needs changing.
I would like to add one beginner mistake (it was for me at least). Doing sound design in the middle of writing a track and then getting lost in it. Now i always try to make sounddesign a separate process. So that when i make a new track i have lots of my own stuff to use. But i tend to treat it the same way as presets and not get to precious about my own sounds.
Your content is just great! So much value in such a short video ! You really fill a gap for ppl who are already making music and know the basics. Thank you for showing such nice techniques🙏 I hope you can keep up with this and wish this will be rewarded , you deserve it 🙏
Thank you John! I really try to understand how I can edit / pick topic/ improve quality so that it is entertaining and educating enough and you guys enjoy watching it. Really really happy to see it is working. 💖
The best mistake of that list is that I didn't find your channel earlier lol. Stuck on intermediate level for a while now, thanks to you, I'm stepping up my game. Tysm for the effort and for being selfless sharing all that knowledge with us. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
you give great tutorials man, thx a million, i sem to learn more from you than any other producer on youtube and I spend alot of time on youtube...so BIGGZ UP you're a godsend
I wanted to put a thumbs up on this more than once. Def guilty of equing instruments in 'solo' and then wondering why they couldn't be heard in the final track.
Your channel is a goldmine! Even though my music isn't electronic at it's core, I find these tips super useful nonetheless! I love the fact that you tie every tip to the art and the storytelling of the song. They are not just technical tricks but expressive tools. Thank you! Great work!
Thank you for all the videos. I've just started playing around and learned so much from your vids. I don't think I would have progressed so quickly if it weren't for you.
Super cool! It's really normal for orchestral composers to use two reverbs, one digital, one an impulse response, to get the same effect to put all the instruments in the same space. Didn't realize it happens in electronic music too.
@@Alice-Efe My true pleasure my man! I aiming to reach out to you next year with some samples and tunes. I really dig what you are creating broski! All the Best from Brooklyn!
Great video, thanks for the tips! I do have a question about the last one though. Do you also side chain sustained reverbs? For example the reverb in which the instruments sit? And maybe the longer drum reverb? Or is it only the sustained instruments themselves? I’d love to see more videos on the topic of creating cohesive spaces as well by the way.
Amazing channel🤩 Just came across it, and this is pure gold. I also appreciate how much attention you pay to details, really professional and enjoyable! Thank you!
No wonder my mixes sound so bad...lol Seriously though, great tips and especially the reverb! I definitely need to spend more time learning to use it more effectively. I swear some day I'm gonna be able to make a decent track! lol
I am sure you will! Probably much sooner than you expected and maybe you are already doing it and you are a bit harsh on yourself :) Keep grinding mate! Cheers
You are a monster!! Would you happen to know how to bypass all the insert effects on ableton? Still can't figure it out, and I see that you do it all the time...
As for nr 12 or for frequency peaks in general try the spectrum grab mode in Pro Q 3 if you haven't. Just hover your mouse in the lower part of the EQ. But you're right always listen over looking when it comes to mixing. Assuming you're not ear fatigued after listen to the mix for too long (it'll numb you to harsh frequencies) always go for first impression mixing decisions. Take breaks. Also thanks Yalcin good tips much love 🤟❤️
Hi, love your videos, best on youtube by a mile. But, one question/request: can you make a video about your reverb sends ? I have Valhalla reverbs and i am guessing we all here have, but you can make a sends with Valhalla reverbs and with ableton reverbs :). I think i speak for alot of us here, we could sell a kidney for that video =)
Your almost a little late, would have loved to have your channel 5 years ago or so :D Never the less there is always a little something new for me in your vids. Thanks for your work. Really appreciated. I think youre really the best channel regarding electronic music.
Yalcin you not just spread cool tips, you do an amazing job.. I fell in luv with your track 'Veil'. 6:15 ... DAT SOUND AHHHHHHH. I need a tut on designing pads like this! :D Please let us know if this track is out!!
Question: While I do recognize all of this stuff is important, it just feels so overwhelming to learn to do all this stuff. Where do I start and how do I approach this so that over time it will become second nature to tick off all these boxes? Thanks for the vid Yalcin, very good food for thought as always!
So you're looking for another kind of video, e.g. Production process. This video is more about best practices to be considered always on each process. Something to integrate in your mindset more than step by step job.
Honestly, just keep going and keep practicing. Eventually lots of stuff starts to become second nature, and incorporating new stuff is less overwhelming. You learn some stuff just from your own experimentation.
you work at it everyday and dont finish tracks until all of the boxes are checked off. Save videos like this one and refer back to them on every track and eventually it will become second nature.
The way to learn the fastest is to focus on quantity when you are just learning rather than quality songs. Eventually you will get used to the process.
@@ponternal So mixing a lot of songs instead of trying to perfect one, got it! I'm trying to finish my first album right now so maybe that will give me some mixing practice 💪🏽
Might be a silly question but why is there attack on the sidechain compression? I feel like every tutorial I watched so far says to make this instant but when I listen to your examples there is a certain feel. Appreciate your time and videos
