I have done the timing on cx-7 couple of times with no problem ,. Now I am doing it again and wherever I do I can't get it wright. All the timing tools were installed correctly, the pin down by the crank shaft and the locking tool for the cams. It will always pop the p0012. New chain and tensioner , new gear , oil control valve and all that .Head been to machine shop too. Now the good stuff...... The small filter in the cam cap was checked and it's clean , the cam cap was leaking pressure so the machineshop guys resurfaced for me + they apply some aluminium to aluminium compound for extra seal - still no luck. I even used a different timing tool that fit rely tight , because I learn not to trust these Chinese tools where you can get a lack between the tool and the cams, so after all that p0012 is still breading down my neck. Engine will fire wright up but I can feel slow response on the idle when hit the gas paddle also has lack of power like is off timing. Sooo.... it has been a lot fun working on this vehicle , if someone can come up with any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I'm having the exact same problem. I have done all the stuff you have. I even replaced ALL of the timing parts, cam gears, vvt, chain, guides, tensioner, even the ocv, and cam position sensor. Still p0012. If you have anymore info I would love it. I have been fighting this for 3 months now
Hey, not sure if i missed it in the video or not, but friction washers should be replaced everytime the are decompressed. Also, anytime your applying pressure to the crank to loosen or tighten bolts with the chain on be very careful, the cam at the end with the plate in it can snap other wise good video!!
Hey can you make a video on where all the plugs go on the top of the engine ,car was sent in for repairs and the guy never finished the job if been looking on your videos got most of them plugged in but there is still some not plugged in the car is running but the revs are hanging at 2000 rpm and if you know the colour of the wires on the heat gauge
Let me be more precise 4 cylinder number 1 lobes on my cams the exhaust would be at I'd say 7 p.m. and the intake was around 5 p.m. clockwise if you will I'm not sure if that would be the correct positions or not when I got the vehicle it did run in drive but it has a slight rough idle to it
Thanks for your videos, very helpful. Refreshing to see guide videos made by people that AREN'T trying to be YT 'Stars', just good honest advice, well presented, well explained. One question on this one; The Crank Position Sensor has slotted mounting holes, how is it positioned correctly in relation to the Pulley (Harmonic Balancer)?
I skipped using the 2.3 timing componets and went with the 2.5 instead the fewl ao much tougher!!!! Specially for a turbo aplication .... this was engineered for disaster !!!!
One thing I've noticed and I've got a question for you if you don't mind. The lobes on the cam are completely opposite position as to the lobes on my Cam's when they're TDC so that's probably my biggest concern as his vehicle I just bought two how to fix and sell it but I do the work myself so I kind of concerned me if the lobes are incorrect on my cams
Mine has a stuck variator...but.thanks Ford for getting rid of those pesky key ways...too many decades of quality and ease of replacement... apparently
Yeah huh I stopped wearing them because I always broke the glass the second time I forgot to take it off then I just stopped wearing them all together.
Very Uneducated... these vehicles do not have lifters... these are Cam Buckets that are shimmed. The noise you hear is more than likely the Intake Cam Phaser. Also keep in mind these vehicles are Direct injected which you failed to mention. The fuel rail and injectors are pressurized up to 2000 psi. Did you check to see the if the injector seals. This motor is a mess and I’m sure you may mean well but educate yourself. And if you notice the oil leak more than likely is from the timing cover seeping closer to the alternator not the crank seal. Your video is very misleading for anyone searching UA-cam for help on this motor.

Hello, do you fixed the problem?
Hey, not sure if i missed it in the video or not, but friction washers should be replaced everytime the are decompressed. Same for bolts
Excellent, your show is one of my favourites
Thanks and keep up the Good Work Guys.
i just got a 07 cx7 im glad to see so many videos about it thx!
Does the oil pump need to be timed ? As mine has had a full re build just wanted to make sure it has or hasn't have to be set thank you.
No
much appreciated!
Thanks for this video
Nice....very helpful and clear.
who makes the best timming kit?
Hello! Is it the same procedure on Mazda 6 2.2d 2009 (Euro modell - Left steering) ??
Hey can you make a video on where all the plugs go on the top of the engine ,car was sent in for repairs and the guy never finished the job if been looking on your videos got most of them plugged in but there is still some not plugged in the car is running but the revs are hanging at 2000 rpm and if you know the colour of the wires on the heat gauge
One important step you did not change the friction washers which MUST BECHANGED when the bolt is removed ( also the bolt must be replaced also)
Where you get the purple bold?
Thanks for the video 👍
Does the oil pump chain need to be replaced in order to change the timing chain?
Let me be more precise 4 cylinder number 1 lobes on my cams the exhaust would be at I'd say 7 p.m. and the intake was around 5 p.m. clockwise if you will I'm not sure if that would be the correct positions or not when I got the vehicle it did run in drive but it has a slight rough idle to it

One question on this one;
The Crank Position Sensor has slotted mounting holes, how is it positioned correctly in relation to the Pulley (Harmonic Balancer)?
But this information is Absolutely WRONG !!
Where are the friction washers ? Under the crank and cam bolts ?
88 inch lbs for everything except the timing gears oil pump sprocket and the 13mm bolts on the timing cover :D
Wrong.
i need to know the length of the timing peg, the one you put on the hole where there is a blind plug at the back of the engine block, thank u
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I skipped using the 2.3 timing componets and went with the 2.5 instead the fewl ao much tougher!!!! Specially for a turbo aplication .... this was engineered for disaster !!!!
question I changed the timing chain of a 2.3 mazda and the engine does not start what would be the problem
Check for spark gas and air if it doesn't work then check your timing marks you should probably check that first
Bro fcar f7s-g best tool?
Or not good tell me

How to start replaced engine in Mazda cx7 turbo
I have the same car. But it has got a rough idle. I'm from Zambia
Mine has a stuck variator...but.thanks Ford for getting rid of those pesky key ways...too many decades of quality and ease of replacement... apparently
Bro I remove the pully with out the tools now the car is not starting .what can I do
Check your timing your out of time
But you probably bent valves so your motor is probably shot check it and set it anyway maybe you will get lucky but ......
HOW MANY KM DID THAT CAR COVER?
I already see BIG PROBLEM BOTH TIMING MARKS ARE not aligned most LIKLEY THE VVT actuator HAS SLIPPED and needs replacement !
Its the worst chain they could ever put in a turbo engine ..... the 2.5 looks right!!!
😢your kit did not have pinions...
Why those mechanics wear watches during working on cars, scratches or show off have money to buy watches.
Yeah huh I stopped wearing them because I always broke the glass the second time I forgot to take it off then I just stopped wearing them all together.
This engine was poorly maintained ( the oil is varnished ) which greatly effects Variable vale timing which cause poor performance on the engine
Where are the timing marks on the camshafts
There are none lol. Lobes dictate
W/o nic on Tuesday cars Mechakin
G6 12valve
Crank mark

'Lifters' is a generic term for any type of Cam Followers, whether that's Bucket-and-Shim. or Rocker Arms.
He knows more than you do, all you do is post videos of nothing.
Nice..very helpful and clear.
